[IC] Overgrown (A Green Apocalypse)

[Swarley]

Noe and Natalie were about to say something when they were distracted by all the commotion that had just erupted. "Listen, we were just scavenging for food, and this dumbass really needed cigarettes so we came in here to look for those things." Natalie said as Noe put his bat on the ground.
"We're not trying to harm anyone, so if we could all just chill out and talk this over I think it would be beneficiary of all involved..." Noe said, a hint of fear in his voice. "Also, if you have any cigarettes it would be greatly appreciated."

Ib safely made it to the trees and she hid behind one, peeking out at the large amount of people. Mary was hiding her face against her sisters shirt and Ib held her tighter, running a soothing hand over her hair. Ib then began backing away from the people, trying to be as quiet as possible.

[Jack]

Azrael lowered his gun as the two people left the store. He wasn't taking the safety off any time soon though. He quickly and silently moved to the front of the store, hiding behind a shelf just around the corner from the entrance. He peered round as people began talking. 'Where the hell have all these people come from... I haven't seen a soul in months and now there's all these...' He thought. As the conversation drew on and took a turn as another person showed up with an arrow pointed at someone's head he raised his gun again, ready to aim and fire if needs be.

Azrael took a deep breath and decided. Hiding behind a shelf won't get him any further. He needed to find out who was friend and who was foe. He wasn't sure what was going to happen but he was sure he at least had some decent firepower in his hands to drop a few people if things got ugly. He pushed himself off the shelf he was hiding against and walked towards the entrance slowly but steadily. He kept his ACR raised slightly although he wasn't aiming just yet. "One simple question for everyone, including those hiding. Friend or foe?"

Dione, of course, wasn't going to answer and give away her location. She turned her head to watch yet another stranger through the gently-swaying leaves. Behind her mask, she pursed her lips and turned pale. It seemed that, judging by the weapons some of the people carried, she was horribly outmatched. Her darts could kill small animals--and she usually needed to slit their throats to make sure they were dead. What would they do to a human? Leave a deep, nasty wound that might get infected, but they wouldn't win a battle. Still, if she stayed hidden, maybe she would have a chance.

Arryn sighed. Lowering her arrow but not yet putting away her bow. "I wasn't actually going to shoot you, silly." She had to look up at the man considering she was only 5'2". "Shooting you without proper cause would be stupid. Plus I'd miss out on finally having human interaction again" She looked towards the other man and woman. "As for cigarettes... I can't help you there. But if it's alcohol you're looking for..." She raised an eyebrow, smiling slyly. It was obvious the little woman had a fairly easy going personality by her smile, but even Arryn could get ugly if the time called for it. You couldn't be all sweet and innocent in a world like this. "She roved her eyes over the 3 people here. Her head whipping around when a new voice emerged. Asking them a simple question "Friend or Foe." That was a silly question to answer when he hadn't even answered it himself. For the time being she kept her mouth shut.

[Geoffrey Silt]

Sam shook his head. "Thank God for that." He said hearing he wouldn't be shot dead. "Now onto the other problems. There was a click in the shop, a rustle in the bushes, and some footsteps in the road. Any word on that?" He said putting a hand on his holster. Then he heard the question Friend, or foe? hearing it from the shop he slowly turned his head to find a man with the looks of an assault rifle pointed at them. "I'll take Friend for five hundred?" He said joking about one of the old shows he used to watch. It took some of the edge off and gave him a slight bit of a better feel. He had dodged one arrow, a baseball bat to the head, and was trying to dodge a bullet.

Ib continued to back away but froze when a twig snapped under her weight. She held her breath, not daring to move as her eyes darted around to see if the people on the road heard. She waited a few minutes before she started moving again, Mary clasped close to her.

Noe smiled at the small woman who had appeared. "I haven't had any alcohol in over a year, I thought it was all gone. I think we're going to get along." He says with a small laugh as Natalie just rolls her eyes dismissively.

Then they heard the words, Friend or foe? Natalie turned quickly to face the voice, her eyes widened as she saw the heavy fire power he happened to have, he must have raided an army surplus store or something, she thought to herself. "We're friends, we're not going to hurt anyone just don't do anything rash." She said, panic seemed to enter her voice, she hadn't seen people in months and now this. All she hopes is that this guy was also a friend because she did not want anything to happen like the last time she met someone carrying assault weapons.

While hiding, Jeff heard the words Friend or foe? Seeing that he had a gun, and knowing that he could out power him in a fight, Jeff comes out says "Friend", though he is tightly gripping his crowbar just in case.

Mary suddenly gasps and starts wiggling. "M-Mimzy! I l-lost Mimzy!" The little girl said, tears building in her eyes. Ib gently set her sister on the ground and looked at her. After a few moments she sighed and tucked the child in a hollowed out tree. "Stay there and do not come out for anything until I tell you to, ok?" She said, Mary nodding.

Ib stood and retraced their steps. She peeked out of the bushes and cursed quietly when she spotted the stuffed rabbit laying in the middle of the road; Mary must have dropped it when they raced to the woods. The 15 year-old sighed and cautiously stood up, keeping her eyes trained on the group of people off to the side as she started to inch her way over to the rabbit.

[Geoffrey Silt]

"You know what, cluck you guys. This is gonna turn south any minute now and seriously. The chances of like ten people all m-" His words were stopped as he saw a man with a crowbar jump outta the bushes saying Friend Friend! Turning he started to walk off only to be stopped by another person in the road. "This is just a mess isn't it." He said as he turned looking at the lady with the bow, the man with the assault rifle, crowbar Joe, Noe and Natalie, and now a teenager picking up a toy doll. "Seriously, I think it would have been better if I had just died a year ago or something." He said sighing and rubbing his forehead.

[CLIW]

Dione leaped out of the side of the tree away from all the people, not noticing that in a nearby, hollowed-out tree there was a child. All these people and a child? She stared through the mask at the youthful face, then put a finger to her mask's gaping maw and moved away.

Ib quickly grabbed the bunny and raced back into the trees. She gasped when she saw a person move away from Mary and darted over. She gently pulled her sister from inside the tree and hugged her to her, shooting the person wearing the mask a wary look. The 15 year-old then proceeded to check her sister over for injuries. Satisfied that Mary was unharmed she handed her Mimzy, the little girl giving a quiet squeal of delight and squeezing the stuffed rabbit to her chest.

Ib leaned against the tree, closing her eyes slightly. Between worrying constantly for her sister and having ran all night to escape those men, Ib was exhausted but she couldn't rest until Mary was in a safe place. Although, very few places were safe anymore...

"Listen guys, I heard someone snarl back there and chances are that someone else has some kind of weapon pointed straight at us, so what do you say about getting out of the open and into one of the buildings near us?". Jeff said.

[Jack]

Azrael was sufficiently satisfied with the amount of 'friend' answers and lowered his gun. "Excellent. I do apologize for causing the panic I seem to have done. I'm sure you can appreciate though that you simply can't be too careful." He turned to Jeff. "Very likely that several people are aiming at us right now. I suggest we take cover in the store and decide what to do in there."

Arryn smiled at the man with the bat as he laughed, saying they'd be friends. All around her more and more voices were popping up. She realized there were more people here than she'd originally thought. "Excellent. I do apologize for causing the panic I seem to have done. I'm sure you can appreciate though that you simply can't be too careful." At the sound of the same voice she'd heard asking "friend or foe" Arryn turned around. She was met with a set of eyes coming out of a very attractive male face. She almost could instantly feel her face start to heat but quickly recovered. "Do you normally carry that much firepower around?" She couldn't help her small smile that appeared. "I mean... Sooner or later your going to run out of ammo." She faced the rest of the group around them. This many people was probably attracting quite a lot of unwanted attention.

Noe picked up his baseball bat and tapped it against he feet very much like the way a batter would before he went up to the plate and he put it behind his head, resting it on his neck.
"Listen, I don't think we should hide in the store, if we really want to try to get out of the situation we're in right now where we think every bush in this area going to kill us we all have to leave this general vicinity. If you all promise you aren't lying to us and you're not going to try to kill me and Noe here then maybe we can work out a deal allowing you to stay at our little camp we have set up in Central Park, otherwise you're on your own, but I do think that in any case we should get out of here before discussing those options." Natalie said to the small group that seemed all seemed to come out of nowhere. People seemed to have just been popping out of everywhere.
Noe took out a cigarette and put in his mouth. "I agree with that." He said, though it didn't really need to be said as he was obviously going to be going with Natalie. He looked in his box of cigarettes to see there was only one more actually there, Better save that for a special occasion he thought to himself as he lit the cig and took a long draw.

"That is probably the best idea" Jeff said, while gripping his crowbar with his right hand and walking over to central park. "My name is Jeff, by the way, what are your names everybody?"

[Geoffrey Silt]

"Unimportant, my name no longer matters in this world, quite frankly I think I forgot a few years ago. Hadn't a need for it really. And yes I agree to these terms." Sam said as he began a walk in the street to central park, looking to his left and right as he walked doen the street he noticed a small child next to the older one who had picked up a toy bunny in the street. A slight gasp escaped him as his thoughts exploded. Walking towards the two he asked, "Are you related, are either of you hurt?" He said looking at the somewhat cheerful girl he saw tightly gripping a toy bunny, "D-do either of you have your parents?" He said thinking about how terrible it was for a child to be apart of this. Luckily an older sibling or guardian had been with them.

Ib jolted when she heard a voice speak up behind them. She sprang to her feet, stepping in front of Mary to shield her. She narrowed her eyes at the man, hand tightening around the bat she held in her left hand. The 15 year-old gave the man a wary look as she slightly herded the 7 year-old back slightly. "We're fine." She said warily, wondering what the man was up too. She was tensed, ready to scoop Mary up and make a break for it the second the man showed signs of hostility.
