The Vikings had lived in peace on Greenland for five hundred years. They worshipped their gods reverently, but their gods were not to be trusted. Greenland, unknown to the Vikings, possessed a gateway to Yggdrasil, the world tree that held up all of the realms, and was therefore a bridge for the gods to Midgard, or their beloved Earth. Even though they were worshipped by the Vikings, they wanted more – they wanted to rule humanity. Odin, the ruler of the Gods, had set his sight on ruling all of Yggdrasil. The only thing standing in their way was Loki, the Goddess of Mischief who not only enjoyed putting a wedge in Odin’s plans, but believer wholly that a flawed being such as Odin was not meant to rule. Loki continued to interfere until Odin cast Loki down Yggdrasil and had her chained by the roots, forever to have a snake’s poison dripped on her. Sigyn, Loki’s best friend, followed her down with a bowl to always catch the snake’s poison for her. Unfortunately, Sigyn would have to dump the venom every so often and the toxin would drip onto Loki’s body, causing her to writhe in agony and tremors to startle the peace of Greenland.

In 1406, two of the Vikings had stumbled across Yggdrasil and had successfully traveled to the bottom, riding on Ratatoskr’s back – Ratatoskr, a gossiping rat, was the fastest being on Yggdrasil and could travel the length of Yggdrasil in three days while it would take a human to climb many years. When they arrived to the bottom, they were met with Loki’s chained body. Sigyn was not present as she had left to pour the bowl of venom away from the roots of Yggdrasil lest the tree be poisoned. Jerking with agony, Loki barely managed to tell them the Gods’ plan and offered her solution to protect humanity.

The two Vikings were to take a cup of the serpent’s venom and pour it onto the roots of Yggdrasil. The Great Tree would die and, since they gather their energy from the tree, all of the Gods would fall into a deep slumber to never wake again. However, Loki warned them, the sacrifice of a human will arouse Yggdrasil and so will the Gods. The only way to prevent this, the Vikings gathered their people and left Greenland, never to return.

Now, you, the players, will be playing as Nikita’s excavation team who are searching for their lost leader. You must band together with the unleashed Loki in order to defeat Odin and persuade the other Gods from taking over humanity. Many of you will be archaeologists, but it is not mandatory. You can be whatever can fit into the team – maybe a local historian, maybe a super kickass worker: it is up to you.

1. As the GM, I have complete say in what is what. Don’t forget that.
2. Quality over quantity; no one-liners
3. Please do not get into arguments, and if it is concerned with the RP, bring it to my attention
4. Romance - I love it – however, very often I see players put another player in an awkward position in order to achieve romance and, under the circumstances, the other player often says yes in order to not seem like an utter douche. If you wish to have a romance with another player, ask over PM before you even hint at it in the RP. Another thing, do not make your character all about the romance…it’s annoying.
5. You do not need to be an expert in Norse mythology, I certainly am not, and much of the mythology is going to be tweaked so as to be…different. However, it would be nice if you had a general overview of Norse mythology. (Warning: the Avengers is not an accurate area to gather your knowledge from; they, too, tweaked it)
6. No God-modding or any of that other general stuff everyone hates
7. Post at least once a week – I’m not picky about time, I know that life is hectic, this is all I ask
8. If you need to take a very long leave of absence, holler at me or whatever the kids say these days

At the top of your post, please put the place and the time that your character is currently at. If they are traveling from one place to another, just put a dash with the second place following the first. The time will not be specific, but will instead be as following:
Morning
Noon
Afternoon
Evening
Night
Midnight

I'm interested, even more so with Loki being a girl intead of a guy (was confused at first XD)

Is this modern? I assume so- there weren't really archeologists in the times of axe-swinging and public beheadings.
