She nodded to herself, this one was great, asking questions non stop like a true diviner. "Well the Ceeing room is a room with a source of water inside. Through that source of water you can make a portal to the past, to observe through the reflections and even, if your skilled enough, walk through and observe first person. The chains are vital as they keep the past out of today, separating the two areas past and present. Or at least that's the idea I got when I was explained it." She stopped just short of the door and motioned for her to walk forwards to the door first. This was a test to see if she really was telling the truth as the chains also had another purpose, to destroy and evil monsters or entities trying to get in, it would only open to the sense of a diviners energy trying to get through. She was assuming that this person still had untainted magic and the door would observe but ignore her...

Savannah glanced over at Ingrid almost worriedly as she approached the door. Ingrid was looking back at her almost urging her on, like a parent teaching it's child to ride a bike. Savannah drew a deep breath and studied the door closely. She bent down and observed the chains and locks on the door and wondered why there needed to be so many of them. However, she did feel a strange aura coming from the doors and wondered why she felt so compelled to try and undo the locks. She was a lock picker after all. . . She had always been able to use her earrings to pick the locks on the school doors when she showed up early and didn't want to wait in the cold. Earrings, bobby pins, paperclips, anything would work.
She glanced over at Ingrid again and asked curiously, "What exactly is the lesson you need to finish?" This door was making her even more excited than she had been before about the school she chose.

@Alina13 She breathed a sigh of relief as the chains didnt shoot out and try suffocating her. She was normal after all. "I need to research an ancient magician and as I have access to the Ceeing room I thought Id try to find out about him through this" she explained ready to knock on the door to unlock the chains if she gave up.

Savannah studied the chains again but this time, with her mind trying to figure out how to undo the locks. She was scared to them. After all, this school WAS magic and she had no idea what they could do to her. She looked at Ingrid and asked "Could you teach me how to undo the locks? I'm going to have to get in here at some point right? Might as well learn early.
She felt like a child. Her excitement about these doors was almost a little ridiculous and she hoped she wasn't giving off a childish vibe like she would never take anything seriously. . . She was just elated.

Ingrid nodded, it would be good for her to learn early. "I'll tell you" she said "but you have to make sure you dont come in without permission until your taught by Thoth." She motioned for Savannah to lay her hand on the central lock. "You have to imagine yourself reading a book, a book of time." She says repeating what Thoth had told her 3 weeks ago. "You've reached a certain point in this book and need to read an earlier part again. Imagine yourself turning the pages to the contents, a part not in the book yet a big part of it. You will encounter resistance but you must push through. You can do it!"
She looks at Savannah to see if she manages to open it and how easily. She'd needed a couple of attempts before she had been able to unlock the door. But then again she wasnt a very strong mage and it would be much easier for any stronger than herself.

Savannah was curious as to how quickly she could get this lock open. This would determine how the rest of her schooling would go.
She did as Ingrid asked and imagined herself reading the book of time she described as she gripped the lock with her hands delicately wrapped around the center. She saw old, brown pictures of beautiful women in carriages and dates from hundreds of years ago. She saw years past. She saw people she read about in History class.
She opened her eyes to see if she had made any progress at all and saw that the lock was getting slightly warm. She figured that this was a good sign and closed her eyes again with a new found pride and determination.
She concentrated even harder this time and flipped through the pages of the book in her mind and counting the numbers. As she went further and further into the book, she felt the resistance Ingrid was talking about. It almost felt like there was a very strong wind pushing the pages away from her and they got difficult to turn. As she neared the end of the book, she was beginning to be concerned that nothing was happening. Then suddenly she heard a hissing noise like when you open a bottle of soda. She opened her eyes to find the lock slowly unhinging. She looked at Ingrid with astonishment. She felt better about herself now than she ever had before.

@Alina13 Ingrid opened her eyes wide in surprise. The speed that she opened it (for the first time) was exceptionally good. She'd felt the magic of divination rise into her almost as if the energy had been trying to be used for a long time. No doubt about it (if this is ok with you) this mage was strong and it seemed also gifted with divination energy as well. As the lock unhinged Ingrid covered her eyes as a blinding like came bursting out of the lock. When she uncovered her eyes the door and locks had gone leaving a portal. They could see on on the other side of the portal there was a cauldron like pool of water.

on a bench to the side of the pool there was a boy around their age with a strong nose, brown hair and golden eyes and an old looking man again with bright gold eyes, wrinkles around them and a grey beard and hair. When they looked up at them the boy nodded at Ingrid and they faded into thin air. Ingrid walked to the pool. bringing out some books out of a bag that seemed to appear out of nowhere from her shoulder.

Savannah was overjoyed. She couldn't believe she had just gotten that door open on her FIRST TRY as a new student! She was stunned for a minute before Ingrid looked back at her and motioned for her to follow. She stepped through the portal and approached the pool. It was shiny and beautiful and she was suddenly tempted to touch it but she guessed that wouldn't be a good idea. Something about this water seemed very powerful and she didn't want to be sucked into another dimension or something.
"What are those books?" Savannah asked, still in shock and out of breath from what had just happened. She suddenly felt drained. Apparently using her divining powers sucked a lot of energy from her. Maybe that would fade when she learned to use her powers more. She sat down on the bench to get her breath back as she waited for an answer from Ingrid.

Sensing that Savvanah was out of breath Ingrid motioned to a bench. "Eh these are just my books, I'm using them to write down my information for my project for Thoth." she explained. "Well then" she smiled her purple eyes glowing and pulsating "Now the real magic starts!" she focuses her mind on the bowl as a glowing aura appears around her and Savannah as she includes her in the spell. She feels the power of time close by held at bay by powerful forces, she imagines the book again finding all the pages open for her to skip to she focusses on the 1100s extending her hand touching the surface of the water, suddenly their souls entered the power of time pulling them out like water going down a waterfall into a blinding light away from their bodies. Ingrid not being a very strong mage could barely keep a thin connection to their now frozen bodies. Suddenly the light left and they found themselves standing in medieval Britain. Ingrid smiled. 5th time lucky! she rejoiced in her head. Looking up she saw Savannah beside her a purple ghostly version of who she was.

Savannah looked down at herself and was amazed at what Ingrid had done. She could see right through herself like a piece of plastic wrap. However, she still felt like a normal person. This was the coolest feeling she had ever experienced.
"Where are we? Why are we here? This whole ghost thing is temporary right?" Justine figured she shouldn't ask so many questions. Ingrid was a mage; she knew what she was doing. As she took in the scene around her, she noticed the atmosphere was more sophisticated than any place she had ever been in. This was definitely not America. The atmosphere in America was pathetic and Savannah couldn't stand it. Yes she had lived there her whole life but that doesn't mean she enjoyed living there or being called an "American." Frankly, if she had a choice, she would have left America a long time ago.
She wondered what Ingrid was doing here anyway. Was she looking for someone? Could people see them?

Ingrid opened her mouth to answer the question but then collapsed to the floor her ghostly form half sinking into the ground the purple fading slightly as she almost lost grip to their bodies but managed to catch it in time the purple burning brightly again and her rising onto the surface of the ground. The magic she had conjured was powerful and potent stuff. Along with her being relatively weak it had drained her. Uttering croaked words she said ".....g..o. ill be all right.... explore while i.... recover.... you can phase through inanimate objects....... be warned if you touch the living you will.... sort of possess them (they wont remember afterwards. Its so the explorers can examine firsthand the objects with real senses)." Her head then flipped back on the floor as she started recovering her energy.

Savannah was a little freaked out but excited at the same time. She had always wondered how possession worked but she had never learned as much about it as she would have liked to. But now she could actually Do it! She didn't want to wander too far because she had a habit of getting lost. She was never good with direction in new places and it usually took her a while to adjust. And besides that, what if Ingrid needed her? She didn't want to be the cause of something bad happening.
She decided to only wander the park square they were in right now and always keep Ingrid in her sight. She floated off in an eastwardly direction and marveled at the sights around her. She had never traveled almost anywhere in her life so she was greatly amused to be somewhere she had never been.

Around her were primitive houses, men wearing leather, a blacksmiths at the end of the square and behind it all a manor dwarfing any other structures around.@Alina13

As Savannah wandered around the small square, she didn't notice much that was worth investigating. She looked back over her shoulder at Ingrid every once in a while to make sure she was okay, or at least alive, or wasn't leaving without her. She decided to possess someone just to see what would happen. She targeted a man wearing a black trench coat and stopped in front of him. He walked right through her but then stopped. She was now in control. Time was frozen for this man. She moved his feet in a forward direction and began walking around looking at signs and inspecting the objects in building windows. She wondered if she could make the man speak. . .
She spoke and noticed that her words came out of the man's mouth in his voice. This is cool. Now that I know I can do this, I could accomplish a lot when I visit this place. Savannah thought.
With her new,found skill mastered, she phased out of the man and watched him continue walking in the way he had started as if nothing had happened. She walked back to Ingrid and stood next to her wondering why she was having such a hard time. Savannah had made it here just fine. . .
