Well I was thinking it only affected your senses. I mean, when you change your settings in an online game it doesn't affect anyone else.

Yup, that stuff is supposed to be client-side only...

Does this mean you could change the world, die, then use epic points to revive? Or do you infinitely die? Or does it not work?

Epic points are not a power of the Gamer Ability, there more of a Roleplaying thing. That is why they do not show up in your Status window.
