The Improbable Story of Calyx, a Steven Universe rpg

Yeah, she probably would have commanded them at one point, and since Moon sounds like an experienced soldier there's a decent chance she personally knew Rubellite at some point.

Rubellite will probably come off as pretty Jasper-like at first but I did my best to make sure she wouldn't be a total clone. My biggest inspirations for her character were Walhart from Fire Emblem and Lu Bu.

Since I've decided I like revealing parts of the story through character bios and I'm honestly starting to have fun doing this, I'd like to introduce the first and probably only villain who is going to get a bio in this thread.

Warrior, current overseer of gem affairs on Calyx, hopeful future general.

Aptitudes and abilities

Strength and overall physical prowess on par with that of high-tier fusions, only a small percentage of living things in the universe can claim equal or greater strength. Her gem produces a greatsword that was clearly meant to be used with two hands. When she gets angry, she's been known to effectively wield it with only one while holding an improvised weapon in the other.

Background

Rubellite has led a disappointing existence since the invasion of Calyx began. She was sure that her performance in the many battles that took place while the gems were at war with Calyx would convince her superiors of her valor, combat prowess, and overall worthiness of the position of General. She did fight admirably, in a single battle she was known to kill doezens or hundreds of the bees and ants that other gems often had to go one-on-one with. However, she was also notorious for temperamental behavior. Rubellite had no qualms about sending gems under her command into what were essentially suicide missions if she thought doing so would bring her a faster victory and make her look good. She was also disciplined more than once for disregarding her superiors' orders.

When all was said and done, the actual generals left the planet and Rubellite was relegated to the position of overseer, a job which she grudgingly accepted because she had no other choice. She now ruthlessly takes advantage of the conquered people and works to stamp out any attempts at starting a second resistance. She is still convinced that bringing this planet to its knees will win her a higher place in the gem military.

Appearance

Rubellite stands at 7'0'' even and has a powerful build. Think a bulkier, older looking version of this with differently colored skin. Her skin and gem are both blood-red. Her gem is located on her left shoulder.

Alright, I don't have anything else to do right now so I'll get to work on a high-profile character who at least Moon is sure to know.

I'm interested if this is still open, but won't have time to make a profile until Monday at the earliest. I already have drawings for a super strong but docile bug or an eccentric military leader bug if either of those sound interesting.

It is still open and that sounds great. I doubt we'll be up and running by Monday, so you should have enough time. If we somehow get going before then I'll be sure to fill you in on anything you miss.

Hm, you guys' talk of some of the gems potentially knowing each other made me realize that there's a good chance your characters will already know some of the villains. Do you think I should post some of that information here or maybe just PM you guys prior to the introduction of villains your characters should already know?

That's cool, it's a good a picture of what the homeworld is like as any, and it doesn't really matter to me what the invasion was named, if anything. Moon seems like a pretty promising character, I want to see how her strong resolve will play off of Worker's total lack of an ability to care.

Former worker bee, now a homeless bee.

Aptitudes and abilities

Speed, excellent eyesight and flight are all among Worker's abilities. Like all bees she also has a stinger filled with deadly poison, and as with all bees it would kill her to use. Her biggest shortcoming however is her complete lack of motivation.

Background

Originally an ordinary and well-adjusted worker bee, Worker returned home one day from a long trip gathering nectar. At least, she would have returned home if her hive and the surrounding miles of forest hadn't been reduced to cinders long before she got back. One wouldn't think it unreasonable for someone in her position to hate all gems for what they did, but she doesn't, because she can't. Worker had been imbued with Right Thought by her queen shortly after birth, as all bees were, and from that point up until its complete destruction, her every thought and action had revolved around her hive. Worker is now a pitiful being with no direction, feeling nothing and serving nothing but her most basic instinct of survival. She barely even does that. Worker is more or less a complete blank slate, but she could become useful again with the right motivation.
