I'm really muddy on whether I should try to do anything as Spinel or Chromite.

Spinel was pretty dumbfounded, dealing with the sobbing gem's emotions was well out of her area of expertise. She put a hand on Sodalite's shoulder, wanting to show her that she wasn't alone. What was she going to say? Spinel felt pretty much exactly how Sodalite did, she could have done something to help prevent this, but she didn't. Didn't she care about Howlite? ...Of coure I did, why else would losing her have been so painful?
"Sodalite, it's very clear to me that if you could have done something for her, you would have. That you're this distraught is clear evidence for how much you cared. We've all been blaming ourselves for what happened to some extent. I think, maybe, that's natural. If you care deeply about someone, of course you'll want to protect them, and it only stands to reason that you would count any instance of them being harmed as a failure on your part. It wasn't, you would never have deliberately allowed harm to come to Howlite. I think, just this once, it would be perfectly fine for you to do like me and put your feelings away."

@Loony Oh cool, I'm glad he'll have something to do.
@Loony Ugh I don't know, I know you don't want to leave Gilles out but if he wouldn't leave Emerald maybe he should stay there for the time being. Someone is going to come looking for Emerald eventually, not least of all because they need his vote, so you could have Gilles wait for the action to come to him.
