@Akayaofthemoon Yeah, that sums up Chromite trying to be complementary. I think a scene like that could be pretty hilarious if there was someone else to overhear what they were saying and point out that their small talk was the most awkward thing ever.

@Akayaofthemoon Wow, that's a really painful, complicated situation. It really doesn't sound like you or your husband are in the wrong at all, and the problem sounds entirely like an issue with communication. I really hope it all cools down and you get a chance to talk to her, it sounds like that would mostly fix it. I'm really sorry your grandmother said such awful stuff to you though, I know it isn't my place to say this but it really sounds like she should apologize.
@Loony Yeah, it's pretty much the same with me. I paid little attention in math as a kid because I found it boring and easy, only to suddenly crash and burn as soon as I started doing real math. I feel pretty bad about it now, but come on, what sort of middle schooler is legitimately interested in math?
