Loud, reckless and proud. This man will always raise his bottle of sake in the air and speak loudly about his conquers as if everyone desired to hear his stories and war-cries. Even though he's an experienced, matured man with over fifty years of fighting in his back, he appears dumb the large majority of time. Not only that, he's a pervert; all you need to have his complete and undying attention is a pair of large breasts, or a very, very interesting battle story that's better than the ones he tells. However, Gozan is not only about being a lewd old man and a bragging veteran, in fact, he's not as dumb as everyone thinks. He's a wise man, a sage in fact. He has lived through six decades and fought for five out of those six. His amazing insight in everything is due to the brutal experience he has survived through in the past, he has traveled through every country and been to every village, he met every kind of shinobi and every kind of person.
In his more deeper complexity, the man thinks that in the end of his life, he still hasn't done much for the shinobi world. Of course, it has reached peace, but with the upcoming talks about warring Konohagakure due to it's retreat from the Shinobi Republic has bought a new purpose on the old lifeless powerful shell. His very soul desires that he gets an opportunity to do something historic, that his name: Like the names of those who fought for peace in the past, will go through the ages and that he will be remembered as a honorable shinobi. For this, he's ready to fight until death for the purpose of peace and to live his life to it's fullest as much as he's able to.
"If for peace, there must be war; then I shall war until I'm granted peace."
Background:
Early childhood.
Each day of his early childhood was an unberable torture, and by the end of the day, he'd find himself look at his own reflection in the water and wishing that he could simply sink in it and disappear forever. You see, was it by lack of luck or by the wrath of the gods upon his soul but Gozan found himself in a class filled with naturally talented children, members of powerful, renowed clans and prodigies. Now he, himself, had no particular talent with anything other than being terribly embarassed whenever he was close to a girl, especially Uzumaki Yukito; a beautiful red-haired girl, with quite the arrogant attitude even though she was originally a foreigner here. No matter, Gozan had a perpetual crush on her but he'd never let her know, he was already mocked enough by his classmates. Perhaps it had to do with the fact that most children would return to their househood and be asked; "How was your day, dear? Did you learn something new?" And some were even trained by their parents, especially those from the renowed clans who needed to learn the clan's hidden techniques. Now Gozan? Well, returning home was never a pleasurable experience. Usually he'd hear his drunk father calling his son utter distrace and putting all the fault on his mother for giving birth to a failure.
What else could expect from a man who was also a failure, however... The boy usually never gave this a lot of care, instead, he'd walk away to the nearest lake and simply stare at it until it was too late to be outside. But it wasn't just because he enjoyed the climate; Yukito usually stood at the opposite side of the small like and Gozan always admired her from afar. He even brought with him a small sketch pad and a pen, there were countless drawings of the red-haired girl which were pretty precise, there were also small romantic poetic fragments in some pages, something he enjoyed doing as well; and hey, even had a talent for that. Of course, his parents didn't recognize it if it didn't bring them money or status.
When everyone else started to graduate from the academy, Gozan didn't. His chakra-control was so absurdly out of everyone's league that he was reproved thrice, it was even considered that he had some sort of problem, like a sickness or disease which didn't allow him to mold his chakra appropriately. This wasn't the case, Gozan just never put effort into whatever he did. He lacked motivation and couldn't care much for what everyone else say; he was already known as an imbecile, an idiot, an 'as low as low can be' type of shinobi. The fourth time though, he had practiced for no reason the night before and with utter easy, passed the test. He was put in a team with two stronger genin for balance, since he himself was a weakling. His teammates? Uzumaki Yukito and Yoroshi Setsudan. You may hear that last name somewhere else, soon, remember about it. Yukito was always aggresive and had a talent for offending Gozan and making him feel bad about himself, while Yoroshi... That boy had a talent with his words and was so nice and sweet that Gozan thought that being in the same team as him, was heaven.
The first few days of team training went on and Gozan's chakra control proved to be otherwise good. In fact, he managed to learn how to precisely put it on his chakra to keep himself from sinking in the water before his teammates; and moments later, could literally sprint and jump while standing on the lake, shouting things like; "Woo, look at me, look at what I can do hahahaha!" While both Yoroshi and Yukito frowned in disappointed with his lack of maturity. That was all for the day though, and Gozan returned home all excited to tell his parents about this only to find his mother crying in the living room while his father was nowhere to be seen. It should be mentioned that his father was a trader, and while not the greatest father, he certainly wasn't all that bad. He left. Forever, probably; but he decided to leave a good amount of money for Gozan's mother so that they wouldn't have any economical problem for a while.
How Gozan felt? He didn't feel utterly crushed. He diddn't cry. He sat by his mother side and tried his best to comfort her, like any son would. He wasn't proud of his father, no, there was no reason to feel proud about a man like that, a man who could leave his family for apparently no reason without the intent of coming back. And this brought certain motivation to Gozan, he looked his mother in her eyes and with as much determinance as he could muster, he spoke; "I will bring our family's name glory." And that was the last words he said to her... before sleeping. The day had been pretty tiring with all that chakra use and training, the boy certainly needed the rest for the next day, it was going to be their first mission!
A Rank C mission. Very nice. Still a mission nonetheless, and there was the trio of genin together with their sensei stalking a huge boar with two infinitely dangerous tusks, skin made of leather which was resistant enough to resist anything, eyes with burning hatred- that was just what was going through Gozan's mind while he watched in terror the creature they'd take on. Yukito seemed excited about it, Yoroshi seemed... to not care. He was a nice boy, but Gozan had to say; damn, he was someone who seemed always distracted, as if the world could fall apart and there would Yoroshi be, sipping his tea while nodding his head; 'Uhum, hmm, hm, nice, nice'. In fact he had imagined this scene a thousand times already.
It didn't take long until the signal was given and the trio leaped, at the same time, towards the huge creature, forming a triangle around him. "Don't kill him, but don't hesitate either; it's a tough creature which just needs to be moved out of our village's roads, it's causing problems for our traders and merchants". With that in mind, they made their move; Yoroshi clapped his hands together in the snake seal as tendrils of earth surged from the ground, trying to wrap around the creature. Yukito did a serie of seals before pointing both of her palms towards the boar, two streams of water surging and washing away the creature, trying to take his stability off so Yoroshi's jutsu would lock him down. Gozan? Well... He was just kind of there, staring, while his teammates handed the boar by themselves.
He regreted the promise he had made his mother. But he was thankful that neither his teammates neither his sensei said nothing about his lack of courage from that last mission (which was a success). However, at night when he sat down by the take, the boy felt a soft hand being placed on his shoulder and when he looked back, his cheeks became as red as the beautiful girl's hair. Uzumaki Yukito was just behind him, smiling softly before she sat down by his side. He wasn't sure of why he was getting all these feelings at once, but absolute love was rushing through him. He nearly failed to hide the sketch pad he carried about. There was... a conversation, brief one.
"Didn't know you had a thing for drawing."
"Ah, it's just... a hobbie, something I do when I'm bored."
"You've been bored every night for a while, haven't you?"
"... E-Eheheh, never thought you noticed me here."
"It's hard to miss."
And then the two talked about the stars, about their dreams, ambitions. And they got closer. And then they talked about that last mission. And she jokingly scolded him after a long conversation that Gozan would never in his life forget. She went back to her house and so did he: He slept smiling widely that day. And when he woke up, he hurried towards the training fields. Today's training was special!
Reaching there, his sensei had his arms crossed over his chest, speaking in his monotone voice with as much excitement as a wall. "Well well... Finally got yourself here, Gozan-kun, this training is practically for you only. You see, we will learn about nature transformations today, the principle of elemental ninjutsu. You've probably learned what the five elements are and what element is stronger against what element in the academy, so we will skip all this and go directly to the chakra paper." Taking a square paper from his pocket, the man walks up to Gozan and hands him it. "It reacts according to your nature, the reason I said this is a specific training for you is because your teammates already know their nature. Yoroshi possesses Doton, Yukito possesses Suiton. The chakra paper will react when you apply your chakra on it. If it wrinkles, it means your element is Raiton. If it burns away, it's Katon. If it becomes wet, Suiton. If it crumbles away, Doton. And lastly, splitting in two means Futon". Gozan couldn't be more excited; he hurriedly took the paper and applied his chakra to it... Just as quick as he did it, the paper burned away. Fire Release shall it be.
"Great, great! Katon is an offensive jutsu, combined with the defensive properties of Doton and the utility of both defensiveness and ofensiveness of Suiton, we've got a pretty good combination in our hands." The man chuckled before making the tiger seal and exhaling a large ball of flames towards Gozan, with such casualness that the boy nearly didn't dodge it. "Now, to teach you your first technique... The Great Fireball Technique. This technique hauled from a legendary clan of Konoagakure, the Uchiha. It's simple. First, you must build chakra inside of your chest, mold it with the tiger seal and then turn it into fire before exhaling towards a foe. Theres the fireball and the flamethrower variation. Let's practice it." And with that said, they did so, practiced. Yukito and Yoroshi were both trying to learn a new technique, while Gozan attempted to learn his first. The whole day of training went by and Gozan didn't stop, he was already producing a decently sized fireball, but that wasn't enough. He was told to stop, but didn't. And that day, he impressed his sensei with his pretty... huge chakra resources, something which was unknown to everyone. After all, he never had the opportunity to use too much chakra for anything.
After this day, there were some missions. Many, in fact; they had completed a serie of D and C ranked missions and had gained a lot of experience. Gozan and Yoroshi's friendship had become powerful, the trio had learned how to work together pretty nicely and all of them had learned something with one another. For example, Yoroshi learned how to draw perfectly shaped stickman while Gozan learned how to watch the girls bath without being caught. Yukito learned how to punch their faces when she caught them spying on her. And one day, she learned that Gozan had such care for her that he'd be willing to risk his own life to save her own; that day was one of the most traumatic, for all of them.
A B ranked mission. Rogue shibobi from Kumogakure had been seen in Iwagakure, and the Raikage asked for Iwagakure's aid to stop them, as they were too far from his territory. The Tsuchikage of the time sent Gozan's team , as it had been said that these rogue shinobi weren't exactly the strongest shinobi of Kumogakure. They were hiding on an abandoned house on the forest and as the group approached, they were ambushed. "Cursed Seal: Barrier of souls!" Was the first thing they heard before being separated. That wasn't by a seal, though, it was Genjutsu. Powerful Genjutsu, which locked each of them in a different dimension where they couldn't make difference of who was teammate and who was foe. Their sensei quickly brought the illusion away, but he couldn't warn the trio that they were in it, neither he could stop them from attacking each other as the two rogue shinobi decided to take the most dangerous shinobi out first.
"Hehehe, you bought kids with you, that's pretty odd. Is Iwagakure lacking true shinobi?"
"Kai!"
Yukito broke free from the Genjutsu as well, her kunai passing such small distance away from one of the rogue shinobi's head that the man even yelped before going on an outrage. Quickly, the Uzumaki ran backwards and sent a surge of chakra through Gozan, dispelling the illusion. She told him to do the same with Yoroshi and so Gozan did; their orders were simple, their sensei and Yoroshi would stop one of them, while Gozan and Yukito should hold themselves against the other.
They divided and decided to combine attacks without allowing an opportunity for counter attack. They didn't expect their opponent to be so strong however, his taijutsu was at a completely different level than theirs, his speed was greater and he was stronger than both Yukito and Gozan combined. Using kunai, water and fire ninjutsu and whatever else was at their disposal, they managed to hold themselves, but then the man roared, pointing his arm down as he held his wrist with his hand, electricity gathered in his palm before a stream of lightning was sent forward, aimed at the girl who had her leg crippled by a kick moments ago. The attack closed distance fast and it was likely going to be fatal, but suddenly... A known figure appeared in front of her, his growl of pain heard, some blood ran down from his arm... it's droplets falling over her dress.
"E-Eh.. s-sorry, didn't mean to get... y-your dress dirty, heh." He passed out.
He woke up in his village's hospital and as soon as he was consious, he felt warm, comforting hands holding his own. He glanced at the side and there was Yukito, with teary eyes and all. Woah, did he screwed himself that badly? He tried to sit up, but she forced him down pretty swiftly. "Don't you dare try to move, idiot." And followed by that, a muffled laughter was heard. Gozan glanced to the site and Yoroshi was there, leaning against the wall like a cool kid. "Got yourself hurt pretty badly there, Gozan. Playing the knight sure hurts." He teased, laughing quietly to himself again.
Luckily enough, Gozan wasn't struck on a vital spot; he got struck in his left arm, close to his shoulder. The lightning pierced him pretty badly, but before anything else could be done, Yoroshi and his sensei saved him. Both the rogue shinobi were eliminated and Gozan was taken back to his village for medical treatment, his mother had been told about her son getting hurt and visited him moments after his teammates left. He needed to rest for four days before getting back into action.
Worst time of his life, he wanted to go train and get some action with his team and waiting in an hospital bed was horrible. Three days later though, and he was already feeling much better... Advanced medical ninjutsu helped, a lot. He even managed to get some intense physical training on his own, even though it was his sensei which helped him with what he should do; every day, for three hours, he'd train intensively to increase his body's strength. Carrying weights twice his own, running for extended periods of time with weights on his wrists and feet; this was how he learned his first fuinjutsu, the Four Limbs Weighning Seal, so he could apply them to himself for future training purposes. This preparation had reason, the chuunin exam. His sensei wasn't going easy, while Gozan's physique turned into the one of a true warrior, his teammates weren't getting any lazier; they practiced just as heavily as him, but for their especializations. Yoroshi was taught offensive ninjutsu and was starting to develop a second chakra nature, Yukito's amazing chakra control resulted in a technique which involved chakra control and only that: Rasengan. A powerful rank A ninjutsu with high destructive power, but just as high mastery difficult.
A month after and the chuunin exam was announced. The village of choice was Sunagakure and every shinobi traveled to the Sand Village, many genin easily intimidated Gozan, but his teammates made sure to comfort the boy saying that he had improved far too much in the last month and that it was highly unlikely that he'd have any problem going through this. The boy waited until his name was announced, watching each battle, his amazed eyes widen at the display of skill other genin showed... And then, finally it was his round.

At the start of the battle, Gozan had an advantage on his opponent. He had prepared his taijutsu a bit too well and was handling every attempt of attack from his opponent with ease. However, things started to get a little bit harder when the boy decided to start abusing of his clan's hidden technique, which made him turn completely into water. Every attack Gozan attempted was dodged as the boy's body just turned into a gelatinous liquid, but Gozan was already formulating a plan on his mind. Keeping his attacks steady, a misplaced punch ended up with his hand being stuck inside of Rekki's chest, who used the Hydration Technique. Rekki smirked, and so did Gozan before exploding into a mass of mud, mixing himself with the boy. It was a surprise to everyone but Gozan's sensei: He had developed a second chakra element already. Anyway; Gozan's quick thinking worded, the mud stopped his opponent's Hydration Technique and left room for him to use another technique, this time from afar; the Great Dragon Fire Technique. There wasn't much Rekki could do before the large dragon of fire exploded against him, all what was left was an odd white liquid and Gozan was declared winner.
The first step of fulfilling the promise he had made his mother. Becoming a chuunin! Gozan now had to watch both of his teammates fight and cheer for them just as they had cheered for him. The results were pretty good, both Yukito and Yoroshi won their first match as well, however things weren't so good at the second round. Yukito barely managed to win after a long fight, her opponent falling out of exhaustion mere seconds before she, herself, passed out as well. Yoroshi lost his after a show of a fight. Gozan's second round didn't came to be; his opponent fled the fight, for some reason. Well, that didn't meant much, however; the chuunin exam ended and a few made it. Between these few was Gozan, Yoroshi and Yukito; the three had showed enough for the superiors to know that they were ready to progress their shinobi career further, and so it was.
With that, the team divided. Gozan and Yoroshi started taking missions together, while Yukito had a team of genin of her own. They never stopped talking, though; whenever the trio had time, they'd be seen together, eating something, drinking, at a bar. Yeah, whatever it was, they'd do it together, they'd have fun together.... It was sure to say that they were quite inseparable. It didn't take too long for things to start changing between them, though. Not particulary towards the bad; but Yoroshi and Yukito involved themselves in a... closer relationship, and Gozan wasn't sure of how to take the fact that the love of his life had his best friend as the love of her life. It was a difficult thought; he distanced himself from them, but tried his best to cover his pain with lies and excuses so they wouldn't notice the actual reason.
The boy was turning into a man. He was growing, in fact, a fine man. Attractive enough to have an easy time with the ladies. He was just nineteen, but everyday returned home with a different company. Not exactly the life he thought for himself, but his success as a shinobi was quite... doubtful. He wasn't particulary skilled, or extremely powerful; he was average, without something that made him stand out as an individual, due to his individual abilities. The next year, when he was close to twenty... Yukito Uzumaki and Yoroshi Setsudan announced their marriage. Gozan announced his pilgrimage desires. He wanted to travel the world and leave his shinobi duties for later, and so he did. The first step: Leave the village. It was the easiest one.
He had not decided his first objective until he was already walking for fourty minutes. He just wanted to leave and not be there to presence the woman he loved marrying the man he loved... as a friend. When he was already far enough from the village, he started to climb a very tall mountain by himself. Something pretty damn difficult, it took him three hours to finish climbing, it wasn't easy; he also didn't use any equipment. He just kept going, challenging himself to do something that he should've been able to do without much trouble. Though, he reached the top, barely breathing, his entire body covered in sweat and his hands now calloused and bruised. Then, he tilted his head up, something quite odd coming into view. It was an elderly man standing over a perfectly round shaped rock with one leg, holding two large sticks in his hands, with a large straw-hat. He had perfect balance, it looked as if he was a statue.
"H-Hey, excuse me?" As soon as Gozan spoke, the two sticks flew towards him such precision and force that if he didn't manage to avoid being directly hit by them, they could've probably pierced through his body.
"W-Woah, what the-" He didn't manage to complete his sentence. The man was standing right in front of him. That speed, it wasn't something human. This old man wasn't human, really, he was too fast, too strong. Too... amazing. Inspiring. A true shinobi who'd stand out in whatever village he went to, a true honorable shinobi. Gozan stared at his eyes and he wasn't sure if he was seeing straight: The man had pupils exactly like a feline's pupils, slit pupils. There were some marks over his eyes as well, some orange color which looked like... natural make up around his eyes. The man looked calm and in perfect control of himself.
"You have bothered me." His voice was intimidating as it could be. Gozan apologetically bowed his upper body and clapped both of his hands in front of him. "I'm sorry, I didn't meant to."
"This is inexcusable, prepare to face your certain death, youngling." There was a moment of silence between the two. Perhaps the man at least gave Gozan time to think of how much of a failure he was; dying just like that? No, should he at least fight back? And then a loud, disgusting laughter erupted from the straw-hat wearer.
"AHABAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!" Raising a bottle of sake, he drank it before spitting it all in Gozan's face, just like a disgusting, drunk old fool. "You should've seen your face, it was amazing! AHAHAH! C'mere boy ,have some sake. You look sad and crushed, as if the world is falling down on you and you're failing to push it up. Or that and you've been failing, particulary, for everything you've been trying lately."

Fighting Style:
His combat prowess is highly respected amongst all Iwagakure-nin. Gozan has mastered Senjutsu, and thus is capable of going into the Sage Mode; or rather, through the three stages of the sage mode. Not only that, the man's experience through the years gave him amazing flexibility; he's talented, that's a fact. Mastering four different chakra natures isn't something any shinobi is capable of doing, and not only that, his knowledge extends to fuinjutsu and genjutsu, as well as other techniques of B or above rank. His strongest point is the combination of deadly ninjutsu and his powerful taijutsu, the strongest card this man possesses; despite the old age, his natural strength is unlike any old frail man out there, he's probably stronger physically than an average shinobi at their prime age. His speed isn't that great, though, unless he goes into the Sage Mode, which he likely will in a difficult fight.
Sennin Modõ (Sage Mode):
Gozan has been trained by the Sage Tigers of Mount Kyõmi, and thus became a Sage of the Tiger which gives him a boost in his Taijutsu moves and enhances greatly his agility and physical strength. This mode has three stages and each stage enhances his combat ability, though each stage is harder to achieve than the previous stage. The third stage, for example, needs him remain perfectly still otherwise he won't manage to achieve the perfected and strongest form.
First Stage:
Gozan claps his hands together in front of his chest and starts absorbing natural chakra. This is the easiest and first step of his Sage Mode. Three orange and black marks surges on each side of his face, similar to tiger stripes; his canines also increase in size bringing him a more feral appearance. The complete transformation takes five minutes, if he's constantly moving, or two minutes if he can stand still without interruptions. In this stage, his speed and agility is increased.
Second Stage:
After going through the first stage, Gozan needs to summon Inbõ, a small tiger that attaches to his back just like a backpack. He aids Gozan in the absorption of Senjutsu chakra and is, needless to say, necessary to reach the second state. It takes about six minutes to complete, or three if Gozan can remain still. Gozan's skin starts turning a different shade; orange, and his nails grows into powerful claws. In this stage, he can use the Senpõ: Setsudan (Sage Art: Cutting Fightying Style). In addition to his strength, agiity and speed increasing, he gains Insight of the Tiger, which enhances his reflexes to a nearly unhuman level, granting him precision with his techniques.
Third Stage:
The perfected Sage Mode and the hardest stage. In battle, it's extremely unusal for Gozan to reach this because of two reasons: First, there is usually no shinobi who can withstand the other two stages and two, he needs to remain still and doing that in battle is difficult. In this stage, his body gains a slight fur covering it, the marks in his face shape into two perfect circles with a thin line descending down towards his mouth, linking the two circles. His already immense chakra resources are increased vastly and his movements becomes so fast that even users of the Sharingan might have difficult picking up with it. The strength increase is so great that it strains his muscles after use and if he overdoes it while in this mode, he might need to rest for two or three days. He's capable of jumping seven times his own height and takes no damage from huge falls, this mode unlocks the most powerful of his Senpõ techniques.
Known Jutsu:
Senpõ: Himitsu no Tora-Ryoku (Sage Art: Secret Tiger Art) is a technique that can be used in the First Stage, and a pretty powerful which requires imense chakra. Absorbing Senjutsu chakra together with his own chakra, two tiger heads forms over his hands, the chakra is so condenset that you can see the chakra forming itself and it's powerful enough to create ripples in the wind and the ground beneath Gozan even cracks and breaks. At the same time, Gozan concentrates chakra on his foot and as soon as the tiger's heads are completely formed, he leaps forward with a dash, the chakra swirling around him giving the impression that a tornado surrounded him. If he manages to reach a foe, he attempts to simply bash his hand against them and release the chakra all at once. A single hit can kill any enemy if it hits directly, this technique is stronger than the 'Chakra Enhanced Strength', as it doesn't involves only precise chakra control but chakra control, senjutsu and taijutsu at the same time, making this a S ranked technique.
Senpõ: Setsudan (Sage Art: Cutting Fighting Style) is the main technique of the Tiger Sage. In the second stage of the Sage Mode, Gozan uses his claws to pierce and rip through his foes with unbelievable speed and force, making this a very deadly style of fighting and why his Taijutsu is a force to be reckoned with. This basically means that no other Taijutsu fighter can best him in a hand to hand fight, because his attacks aren't concussions or powerful blows, it's like he's fighting while handing four kunai in each hand. However, shinobi who fight from distance will easily manage to overcome this which makes this an A ranked technique.
Senpõ: Tsume Senbon (Sage Art: Claw Needle Senbon) is Gozan's long-range technique and also requires the second stage of his sage mode. Inbõ utilizes a specific technique that makes his nails grow at a rapid rate while Gozan shapes his claws into thin needles and kneads senjutsu chakra into them to shoot them continuously at an enemy. This is Gozan's main senjutsu long range technique, and the strongest. He can keep shooting while moving and this technique is limitless; it can be interrupted if either Gozan is attacked from behind or distracted, or if Inbõ stops utlizing the technique which increases his claw's growth rate which makes this an A ranked technique.
Senpõ: Tora Shinkirō no Ugoki (Tiger Mirage Movement) is a technique that requires the third stage of the Tiger Sage mode. This mixes senjutsu chakra within his own chakra points and Gozan now produces an exorbitant amount of chakra through all his chakra points, which causes a green-ish coat to surround his body.
