can someone please explain why so many anime characters shout out their attacks? it makes no sense, by doing that they give away what their plan of attack is and gives their opponent an idea of what's to come. strategically it is very not smart.

Depends on the anime you are talking about. In most cases, it is a manga tradition so readers can understand what attack they are using. It is also something similar to when chess player call out their moves. You mostly see this in ki/energy based combat and card games. In a manga like...Claymore, I don't think they call out their attacks.

In an anime context, certain moves are used as indicators so the shout out is for dramatic effect. Also...try to find a 20 year old person that has never heard of a Kamehameha wave. Hell, they may even act it out XD

Goku in Saiyan Saga did sacrifice himself for the good of everyone else with Raditz. Didn't die fighting Nappa or Vegeta. Cell Saga you have there, but he was making up for his son's mistake in not killing Cell sooner. Only failed once.

Then I added in the Freiza Saga with the Saiyan Saga. I was referencing when he blew up Namek. In the Cell Saga, I felt it was more to motivate his son. Either way, he still failed to kill Cell while he was alive.

But he does still embody this idea even in the Saiyam saga. He didn't really "die" but was rendered paralyzed for the last part of the fight due to his spirit bomb. He couldn't do it himself thus had to give it to Krillian. After which, he was able to coordinate the final moments of the Saiyan saga telepathically. He didn't sacrifice himself that time, but his role as the "sole savior" if you will. He probably could have pushed himself, as it would be within his character, but he chose not to.

too bad, the characters would look way better and not so disproportionate lol! comic book art rules!nothing can beat this style of art

For the love of god, who cares? Comic books have cons of their own. Badly drawn comic books have characters that are just as disproportionate as bad manga. So drop this inferiority complex on behalf of comics and stop trying to pick fights with manga.

It is getting more and more irritating to see this pointless discussion drone on. American comics create symbols independent of whatever comic they are featured in. Superman especially. The reason he is basically unbeatable is because that was how he was created to be. His entire personality was BASED around the fact that he was a symbol. He wasn't and still isn't a CHARACTER. He is an idea, the All-American superhero that fights for justice for everyone. For the longest time, he had no other motivation or goal except to protect the planet as a World Superpower (which many believed that was America's role in worldly affairs when he first came around).

You can't really compare any American superhero with any manga character. They are created very differently. For the most part, most super strong manga characters are not MEANT to be unbeatable. Goku (the character people always pit against Superman) will always lose. That is what his adult character is meant to do though. He embodies strength through sacrifice. Goku is "cool" but think of his most iconic moments during the DBZ franchise. Most remember the Saiyan Saga and the Cell Saga. In both, Goku dies via sacrificing himself for the good of everyone else. And ultimately fails in both cases. In all of my years of reading both manga and comic books, I couldn't tell you much about Superman. But I can spend hours talking about Deadpool, Spider-Man, and a slew of manga characters.

Yes, Superman is nigh unbeatable, but there was a reason he needed to be repackaged from a character standpoint. Like all American Comic Book heroes, they were blank slates when they first came out. Boring as hell. In recent times, they've been getting emotions and motivations independent of their creators. I cannot think of a single manga character that needed a character repackage to make them actually have a personality.

There.

Does anyone want their characters drawn? Perhaps in a certain pose?

I'd love to see one of mine :D
*wouldn't mind a Futa Yakoul*
The Hornet Queen gave a regal nod to the young man before she focused on Shukaku. The massive roots that restrained him would help greatly as the girl on her back readied a jutsu. The Queen braced herself and charged up two attacks while Remi charged one up herself. "Fire Release: Great Dragon Fire Technique!" The girl called as she unleashed the attack. She aimed it at the sky, which caused the sky to grey immediately. The queen's spines were struck by the resulting lightning. At that moment the queen unleashed her own attacks, "Ancient Plasma Dragon Technique!" both heads called. The two massive, electric blue, supercharged plasma dragons circled around each other as they headed for Shukaku. "Water Dragon Bullet Technique!" Remi called out. Her technique raced between the two plasma dragons and all three merged together as they shot right at Shukaku.
Remi grunted as she took the venom laced blood and slicked it along her left arm in a strange pattern. The blood began to boil as her kekkei genkai kicked in and her eyes became the Fallen's Eyes.

She felt Shijima before she smelled him, for only he could manipulate the earth and send the strange resonance pattern. He was one of the kinder members of the Empress' troops toward her, and she felt a small sense of camaraderie with him. Long sentences, complex thoughts, they were not needed with him. A few words and an unspoken understanding was the most he gave her. And she was more than grateful for it.

"Yes." she answered quietly. She looked up at the looming figure of Shukaku. She didn't need to ask how he knew of the Queen, it was easy to assume that there was one. She knew though, that she needed to be careful; her mother was incredibly old and powerful, and was next in the familial line for the title of Hornet Sage. If she called for Neferti, it could easily be her last battle should her mother decide that. Granted, she doubt her mother would let this be that last battle, she still insisted that if she had enough energy to deal with the newest brood, she could still serve as Queen rather than a boring, stuffy Sage. That brought a quirk to her lips, for as strong as Neferti was...Sekmet was stronger. Sekmet wasn't a name, it was the identity that every Hornet Queen took on. Their name before that no longer mattered. She'd met Sekmet once, and couldn't remember being so intimidated before in her life. It was at that time that she was allowed to call Neferti Mother, for Sekmet had given her a name meant for Hornet Nobility: Aten.

She laid her hand on the ground, "Mother Neferti, hear me. Aten begs favor to protect that which Sekmet demanded. Please, help your brood child..." Nothing happened for a few seconds before the ground began to heat rapidly beneath her hand. Soon, a pattern of blinding plasma spread from her hand until it became a pool. The girl grit her teeth as she poured chakra into the summoning. The plasma kept forming as it began to take shape. The summon was almost as large as Shukaku, until the plasma exploded violently. In its place, the two headed, monstrous Neferti took its place.

"Your mother has heard your pleas, Aten. Calm now." came a quad-toned voice of the Queen. Neferti's wings snapped open, and released a gust of wind that could have ripped the trees from the ground had she not been merely shifting them. The spines along her back and her dual stringers glowed brightly with the plasma of the Mitarashi. "Take a military ration, Aten." the girl did as directed. "This will not end quickly." She shifted, making the ground shake but she was careful of Shijima.
