Note that the gamers are all average people (I mean, your chara could have practiced martial arts, but you wouldn't have been a master, just an average person who knew some martial arts, kind of like Rainer was, a chara whose player just disappeared early in the RP. He knew martial arts, but that was it). There is a reason for this as well. For them being mostly average.

Here is the thing though, I wanted my character to be formally trained by a school. I'm thinking I want to set her in her late teens, but the average minimum age for a black belt in many martial arts is 15. Tae kwon do has no standards like this until 3rd dan testing. however, to grt a shot at a promotion chance, you have to prove the 5 tenants and uphold them. So you get a shot based on your character.

Since Capoeria does not have a formal ranking system, I'd believe that the Tae Kwon Do belt ranking would be used. In total it would take about 7 years to reach a belt rank, with 40 hours a month dedicated to training. On average, a new student would actually take 3 years to reach a black belt. Taking into account that Capoeria training would probably start in the first year, I'd say it would take around 4 years for my character to reach black belt. So, keeping the age in mind and adjusting for maturity, my character would have been 14 when she would receive her first black belt. So by the time she is 19, she'd probably be a third degree that is in the early stages of training for her fourth degree black belt. (Typically, rank of black belt=amount of years required before a promotion test can be taken. One year is taken off since the minimum hours per month is only 40. My character would have devoted much more time than 1 hour a day devoted to training. Probably closer to 5 hours per day (About 150 hours per month).

This actually plays out nicely, since to be promoted to 4th Dan, she will HAVE to be 27. That is the first age requirement since 4th Dan black belts can actually test others for their First Degree Black Belts in Tae Kwon Do. As she is now, she can test under the supervision of a Grandmaster (8th Degree), but not for Black Belts.

I want to hash this part out before I finish my character. She essentially, grew up in a private school in a way. Yes, she trained a lot, but she was still being taught in accordance to a normal school system. But of course, she barely knows how to work a cell phone...this will be fun.

For the record: She will not have access to Magic (outside of meditation), nor will she use weaponry aside from things on her hands and throwing projectiles. She never Learned how to use a blade, bow, or hammer.
That works for me.
Okies. So what the plan?

You did leave the possibility open in that you can just up the level. I can just say that my character's been a Gamer for as long as the others, just leveled up independently between training and fighting similarly leveled enemies before her hospitalization?

Pft, wow
Well that was....extremely anticlimactic and unnecessary. Thanks, Piercing...

I don't even know what to do with that. Like, I really don't know how to proceed here. Shukaku just ignores the Giant Fucking Hornet in front if him and the massive fireball coming at him isn't even acknowledged. What did it do? Go "poof" and disappear in midair? Come on, Piercing...it feels like you told all of our characters to fuck off. I get you wanted to seal the One Tail, but don't throw the rest of us under the bus by barely acknowledging the events. Like, you couldn't wait like...three posts as Shukaku with the Empress observing before having her do her sealing?

Honestly I have thought of applying for a second character that is a non-gamer. You could use the same system as the test, except stat and talents are kept strictly ooc and assumed to be the character's natural learning of different abilities. However, natural abilities users won't get random weird skills and cannot learn things through skill books, obviously.

But then, won't we get into problems layer? If we RP as an NPC, certain interactions would be virtually impossible wouldn't it? We could have humans unaware they are in a game, but then it stands to reason that they wouldnt be able to see dangers and whatnot, no?

We could have them be like, a class of Gamer? For example, a Casual Gamer is like a jack of all trades sort of character. Their limited experience with video games has not limited them to certain possibilities. This class is ruled by creativity, but at the cost of being generally weak.

Then you have other classes of Gamers based around the culture of video gaming. Ability Users can be classed as Hardcore Gamers. These Gamers usually specialize in one or two things, and devote their entire existence to buffing these few things. It is extremely difficult to change that, and would require a lot of time to upgrade a skill or stat that doesn't influence their character much. Hardcore Gamers are limited in the scope of possibility, seeing that they believe certain games are beneath their notice. A stronger category of Gamer than the Casual Gamer, but is very weak outside of their build (I.e A Hardcore Gamer Archer would not carry a two-handed sword, not even in the inventory unless to sell. Or an Two-Handed sword wielder would not use magic.
Haha! No problem.

Jin.
Well...what if she is a Gamer too. But, just one that has been at it for a long while. But due to her hospital stay and constant moving, has not managed to level up? In response, Mr. ??? Level allowed the things she learned in her normal life to dictate her character due to her unfortunate "awakening" timing? As such, she is limited (as far as allocating to certain skills) since she doesn't know them. But what she does know, she is proficient in? (Explains just how she is at a high level even though her skill set and stats are so narrowed and focused? Maybe this could even cause some tension in the group she joins, since it IS suspicious that she has the levels but not the experience?)
Haha, that's fine with me.

She can be a cousin to the Ban family. Having her father being a part of that family, or even carrying the Ban name could validate why he felt like he HAD to seek forgiveness to appease his family?
