@Zardoric Glad to see interest!

So far I haven't seen anything about so much fighting styles as elements, but I'll definitely look into it.

This is just an interest check for anyone interested in an RP based on Chinese Zodiacs, the history behind it and Tai Sui. Anyone who’s seen the anime “Fruits Basket” will probably get the general idea of the history of the asian zodiac, the whole feud between the Cat and Rat, etc. But it won't be based on the anime, unless there's a large demand for it to be based on that.

I’m looking for the RP to take place in either a boarding school setting, or a small town that can be built by everyone involved (with limits, but I enjoy worldbuilding with people and I wouldn't like to limit others’ creativity too much). I’m hoping for around 12 people, but if that doesn’t happen then if people would be willing to double up that would also work. One character for each zodiac, including the Cat (even though it isn’t an actual zodiac animal). The school setting would allow more close interactions, but the worldbuilding town would be more creative. It's possible that both can be used, but I'd want to see how many people are interested first, so however many people are interested and whichever setting seems to get the most favour will most likely be the setting we go with.

It would be pretty much loose-plotted, and developed as people go along, but I’m also hoping to incorporate some sort of plot based on Tai Sui, the Chinese god of age and time as well as a few other things. But, as I said, it will be mostly loose-plotted and people would be free to roam around as they wish. I'm not looking for any specific post-length as long as it's suited for casual, so over a paragraph or two, but not pages and pages.

Maybe, strong maybe, if this gets enough interest there is a potential to add in abilities based on each zodiac animal. Like control over two elements, and adding a combat magic sort-of-thing into it since it’s believed that each Chinese zodiac has two strong element affinities (fixed and monthly, but that’ll be more in-depth in the OOC). I've wanted to try something around the Chinese Shengxiao for a while, and haven't seen anything else about it, so I thought I'd do a check lmao.
I'm still here too, but I'm the same way, I don't know what to post at all ;;.

EDIT : @Haru Nyan That's a good idea! It might get the ball rolling a little if a timeskip doesn't occur.
I find coloured dialogue is easier to read (but I do have vision issues, so I can't say it applies to everyone) but I guess it comes down to personal preference. I prefer it because of the reason I stated, but I also don't mind if people don't do it.
Athena was frustrated, to say the least.

What was the use of taking magic classes that aren't your strongest affinity? She didn't know. She thought it better to be stronger at one specific thing than weak in multiple. Looking around the room, it was easy to tell the earth affinities from the rest of them, as they were excelling dramatically. She could barely grow a single flower, let alone twisty vines and grass. The girl had originally thought that earth classes would've been held outside, but instead they were indoors, using their desks as a substitute for the ground. Not taking well to her failure, the girl firmly planted her head on the desk.

"Ugghhhhhh, kill me now." She groaned, not really caring who heard. Although usually she wouldn't do such a gesture, all her cares were tossed out of the nearest window. "Stupid earth magic, stupid stupid stupid." She muttered under her breath, balling her fists up and keeping her head firmly planted on her desk, oblivious to the small area of air around her getting colder.

She couldn't wait to get to training after this. She needed a healthy outlet for her frustration, and she'd heard they'd be working on moves they'll need with their dragons; To protect the eggs and then help and protect their dragons. Athena hadn't known about dragons and their rider until she found her egg, but that was a different story for a different time.
@DisguisedDemon The first post seems fine to me! I'll try post something within the hour :3c.
@Zenphilvian It sounds good to me! But things seem to have been really quiet today, I'm hoping it's just temporary mid-week business, but if nobody posts within the next day or so perhaps it would be practical to speed things up and give people a motive to keep posting.

I hope I don't sound like I'm being pushy OTL, but that's just how I'm viewing things.

Looks:

Name: Athena Yang
Age: 19
When they came to the academy: 18
Type of egg they've gotten: A plain, white egg that sometimes can look like a rainbow in certain lighting, somewhat similar to an Opal.
Magic Affinity: Air
Weapon of choice: Shuriken and a dagger, can use a sword but it's not her first choice.

Personality: Athena is quite docile and calm, willing to listen to others and give them unbiased opinions and help. She keeps a level-head and is hard to anger, unless you catch her in one of her moods. She has quite low confidence, and retreats within herself when given compliments. She doesn't take well to failure, and can hold one hell of a grudge. Being quite quiet, she doesn't often engage in conversation and instead nods or hums in response. She will most likely not start a conversation, and will wait for someone else to do it. Like the wind, she can be considered a free spirit, and can go from calm to fierce in merely seconds. She feels most comfortable outside, more specifically under a tree, and gets antsy when she's locked inside for a long time.

Likes: Outdoors, Reading, Trees, Wind, Open Spaces, Running, Hunting, and Dancing.

Dislikes: Heat, Indoors, Closed Spaces, Rude people, TV, Loud noises, and Rain.

History: Athena is a Korean-European, and grew up being isolated by others due to her ethnicity. She gave up on trying to make friends, and instead spent her time in nearby forests, hunting birds to sell. She wanted to save up for university, as she wanted to study dance as well as literature. The first time she encountered her magic was when she was about to be hit in the face with a ball, hard. But instead it ended up narrowly missing her, and swerving, landing next to her despite nobody touching it and no wind that day. She was unsure exactly what it was, but had a feeling that it was something.

So she practiced during her hunting, but didn't get very far due to not knowing what exactly was happening. She tried putting herself in dangerous situations to see if that would trigger it, such as running in front of balls knowing she'd get hit if she didn't deflect it. It only happened two other times, but she did it.

When she turned eighteen, she left her home and went in search of somewhere she could train her magical potential, and found her dragon egg whilst searching for the place. After merely a month, she found the academy, and enrolled.
Got a second post up,yay for writing at 3.50am
I'm really interested to see how everything develops from here.
Liisi Avedarci - Chimu no Jiriki

Retracting her hand slowly, Liisi half-forced her smile wider at the greeting she got from the darker-skinned girl. "I apologise, it was rude of me to expect a western greeting." Somewhere along the way, the majority of students had gathered around and introduced themselves. The others... well, poor them.

One of the first to join in was a name she had merely heard in hushed voices in passing. Maybe it was because of his ethnicity, or perhaps he just wasn't too renowned. Regardless, it was nice to finally put a face to the name. The ultimate surgeon. While his appearance may have been lacking, and his manner of speech could be percieved as awkward, the girl came to the conclusion that her first assumption was correct, and that he would be a useful ally to have. He was followed by a pretty young lady who Liisi instantly identified as the ultimate actress, Rose Everfield. Whilst the european generally didn't watch many movies, she had seen articles and reports about the 'natural beauty'. Unfortunately, being an actress in this situation seemed useless, and the girl quickly moved on to assessing the rest of the group.

One was a very angry, loud-mouthed brunette. It took all of Liisi's efforts to not roll her eyes and click her tongue in frustration at their lack of mannerisms and perception. Clearly, at first glance, anyone could tell that there was something off about the situation. Another person not worth her time. Then came a fresh face she hadn't seen or heard of before. 'An ultimate gardener? When was that a thing?' While the girl dubbed as Cynthia seemed rather docile and friendly, the chef doubted her skills could be of any real use.

Some time after a few more introductions, an assassin and an artist, a loud screech resounded throughout the gym. Liisi didn't even need to look for the source, as it was kind of hard to miss the sight of someone sprinting full-speed-ahead out of the gym. 'What's his problem? Ah, well, guess I would've done the same if I was an idiot.' Unfortunately, the screaming interrupted another persons introduction, but said person didn't seem too bothered and was instead worried about the idiot, reaching out as if to try and grab him as he ran. The girl sighed inwardly, what was the point of worrying about the weak? All they'll do is drag you down. The male that spoke was probably the one who said the most thus far, and she made a mental note to try and get along with him. Anyone who can say more than one sentence was instantly good in her book.

Next came a face she recognised. Rio Andersen, the ultimate fashion designer. Oh how much Liisi loved her fashion lines! The intricate, complicated designs that basically radiated confidence, maturity and wealth. Along with the simple designs that lined her wardrobe, giving everything a bit of cute flair. Although the chef wasn't much for shopping, she couldn't deny that she loved a good spree every now and then. This would definitely be a good person in her little gang of misfits.

Liisi didn't pay much attention to the rest of the greetings, there was the cranky un-hygenic guy, a devout, and a very egotistical illusionist. Realising that the intimidating-looking fellow had skedaddled, she paused to think for a moment. 'Perhaps... it was rude of me to not talk to him first? Ah, oh well! He was an idiot anyway, if I apologise later it'll all be fine.' Their circle of students had gotten quite big, the only ones missing were the three that ran out, and one other.

Turning her attention away from Maya, she did a small curtsey to the group, mimicking picking up her skirts as she was simply in jeans. "It's nice to meet you all, I hope we get along well and we don't meet our untimely demise."

Xavier De La Fontaine - 11pm

Xavier remained rooted on the floor of the gym, his behind starting to go numb and his feet falling asleep. All of the students had made their introductions, aside from one or two that he saw leaving. One was... hard to miss. He'd listened in to the chattering, astounded at how so many of them seemed calm and composed in the situation. Once the ultimate devout introduced herself, the male let out a sigh of relief. Perhaps he wasn't the most useless there after all. They all seemed rather friendly, save for the critic and the assassin, and the way the fashion designer carried around a pincoushin bag unnerved him slightly...

Standing up, he made his way over slowly, grimacing when his sneakers squeaked against the hardwood floor. Stopping near the edge of the group of people, he spoke up. "U-Um..." He started, before coughing to clear his throat. "I'm Xavier, and I... C-Collect things." He stammered, pulling the hood on his hoodie up to shadow his face, hoping nobody would see how flushed he was from that simple sentence.
