So I put in a request for the name of this topic to be changed a while back, and nobody has done it. *sigh* I want editing privileges back.
As soon as they rounded the corner Vera grabbed Jaii’s wrist, leading the way further down a hallway. Eventually she turned to him, looking at the man like it was him who had driven her there and was causing all the trouble. “Look, why don’t you drop the heroic act. You’re the alpha’s son, right? I know how your family works and I don’t need anything else to make this situation more complicated!” Vera hissed, looking him up and down. It was just attraction…very strong, desperate attraction. Yeah.

“Rick is- and then you come in here and- and what is all this, huh?” she asked in a harsh whisper, gesturing with her hands between him and her, hands moving quickly. Without any warning she suddenly pressed her hands firmly against his chest, stood on her tiptoes, and impulsively placed her lips against Jaii’s in a longing kiss that just felt right. It angered her, frustrated the woman that she could want something so urgently, but maybe this would make it go away. It had to go away…

Pulling away Vera sighed, pressing her lips together in a guilty fashion. “Please tell me you’re just really hot and you feel nothing here,” she groaned, finally showing a bit of worry. “At least with Rick what you see is what you get. You, I don’t know…I’m supposed to mate with…” Please say something, Talon…
“I just- I feel like it’ll be a waste. I only know Lyn, and even then I only hang out with her in class. What if I don’t like it?” Harper Taylor muttered, sitting beside her uncle on the back porch of their gorgeous home. Her aunt was out shopping with their daughter, her cousin, Samantha.

“Harper, I feel like ever since you got here you’ve been doing your best to be the opposite of what you were when you were little. What happened to the little book worm that made me listen to her read the just about the entire Nancy Drew books?” the older man chuckled, getting a small smirk from his niece.

“I want to be somebody worth remembering, that’s all,” she said honestly. Her uncle was glad they were finally getting to the heart of it all after sitting outside for almost an hour. “I don’t see why Renae had to punish me! I’m an adult, aren’t I?”

Rob chuckled, standing up and brushing his jeans off. “You’re getting there. I know you think she’s being hard on you, but it’s not so bad. A quiet summer might be nice. Learn to enjoy the silence for once, Harper. Besides, you’re going on that big trip, aren’t you? That’s hardly being grounded, I think you’ll be surprised how much fun you have.”

At that moment Harper’s phone went off. She nodded, giving Rob one more smile before looking down at the device. “Yeah, yeah. It’s better than being stuck in my room.” He left, leaving her to herself. Hm, the text was from Lyn. She really was an upbeat, happy person. Harper wouldn’t mind being around her at all, and hopefully the others going with them were the same way. Pleasant, that is. She texted back with a small smile, trying to go over in her head what supplies she might need. The girl hadn’t been camping since her parents died.

Thanks, this weekend sounds great.
I’ll bring any outdoorsy stuff I think I might need ;) Let me know if you need any help getting ready.
but, I mean if you're going to kill the shifter, and just use it as something for everyone to "wonder what happened to him" about later, then I guess it could work. Sort of like to set up something else...? I don't know.
Yeah, Kilo of course I want you involved, and I do love the idea, but since we're all leaving the Claymore pack it might just make things insane right now. Sorry :( :( It's just you would create a cool plot, but with a pack that we won't be focusing on anymore, and basically will be the 'bad guys' We'll essentially be running away from your problem that you've created for the pack, since I expect everyone to follow Jaii and leave Claymore.
well it's beautiful ^.^
Hm..I've tried to think on it, and I personally don't see anything right now. That's why I said you can go for it, but warned that it might be difficult if you're not a shifter. I hope you think of something! :) :)
As soon as his eyes met hers she felt a nagging in the back of her mind. An instant bond with him, something that made her hang onto every word he said. She could feel him there, and knew even if she left the room he would still be with her in a way that was indescribable. He seemed…genuine, and not to mention sexy. Her inner wolf was growling in approval and curiosity. She should have gotten a better look when he showed Rick the bruise on his side.

“…My name is Jaii Talon, and if I may be so bold; why is a beautiful creature like yourself wandering around with this pisshead? You can do so much better..."

Wow. What a speech…the only problem was his last name. Another Talon. Despite her want to find out more about this Jaii, she knew his family and was concerned with this sudden attraction. It…was just attraction, right? Please let it be just that… “Vera,” she answered quietly, but before the shifter could say anything else Rick interrupted.

“What the hell do you think you’re doing!” he screamed, slapping the boy across the back of the head and getting up, crumbs falling from his mouth. “I’m Beta if you remember right, and she can’t do any better. What’s gotten into you?”

“Rick!” Vera hissed, getting to her feet as well. It was difficult to tear her eyes away from Jaii, but she looked up at her fiancée and tried to wipe any anger off her face. “I have an idea. I’d like to spend some time outside and freshen up, so while you eat why doesn’t Jaii here show me around? Then I promise we’ll meet Luke together and talk about that ceremony.” He thought about this for a moment, looking from his nephew to Vera, chewing slowly. It seemed to take him an eternity to come up with an answer, so she continued to try and help him along. Her and Jaii needed to talk. “Then you can show me your- I mean our room?”

That got a stupid looking, crooked grin out of him. “All right, baby. Don’t be too long. Jaii, stop being a lazy deadbeat and give the girl a tour.” He sat back down, satisfied to finish his lunch in peace.

Vera looked up at Jaii before leaving the room, assuming he would follow her. How dare he put on a face of ‘saving the day’, as if he were some hero. He may be attractive, and her wolf may trust him at first sight, but her human side was smarter than that. At least with Rick she knew what she was getting into.
Claire sighed inwardly, shaking her head when he seemed so confused. Maybe she didn’t know what was and wasn’t socially acceptable anymore. She had been sneaking around, keeping secrets, and speaking bluntly with government men and spies for so long perhaps she’d lost her touch, forgotten what was appropriate. He was right about one thing though, her father was a cautious man, and if he was going to keep her from leaving by herself then life was about to get very difficult for her. As if it weren’t already complicated…

And then dear Mr. Rochford went on to speak of how he acted for the sake of business. The flirting, and charming attitude toward other women. She wanted to ask if he would continue it after they were married, but did it really matter? Perhaps that’s why he saw her as the perfect wife; she has a bad reputation, so she can’t blame him for anything he does in the name of business. At the mention of kneeling for forgiveness she shook her head, giving him a strange look. She would never want that, the entire thing was ridiculous!

Suddenly his hand touched hers and she almost pulled away, yet his words stopped her. “I am not like everyone else. I don’t want to be, because what I do want is to be around you day and night. I want to fall asleep every night, watching your sleeping face, and then wake up the following morning to your embrace. I you require reason why I am doing this, here it is – you.”

It was beautiful. Whether she believed him or not, Claire had to admit he had a way with words. “Why didn’t you say all this last night, Nicholas?” she whispered, exasperated at this point. This wasn’t what she had expected. “When I told you to leave, I assumed you agreed it was best.” For the hundredth time, Claire tried to look at her options. At this point it was either stay with her father, who was beginning to interfere with her work by keeping an eye on her, or marry and live with a man who was probably so busy with work that he would leave her alone at home for hours on end. Perhaps if he wanted to “play house” for reasons unknown to her, she could do the same. If he was going to play nice and pretend he loved her, then perhaps she could use this to her advantage.

Claire put her hand down, immediately covering it with her glove once more. With yet another sigh, something she had a feeling she would be doing a lot of from now on, Claire looked off toward the entrance to the park then back into his eyes. Those eyes that, somehow, held affection and sincerity. “I don’t believe in love at first sight, Nicholas, and a business man like yourself probably doesn’t either. So while I’m not still sure why you’re doing this, you’re probably a better suitor than my father will find.” And he would find her one. “I’ll say ‘yes’ to this as long as you promise I’ll have my space. I enjoy time to myself…that’s all I ask.” She was agreeing to a marriage for the sake of a war. If only others knew…
“Well, if it ain’t young Jaii,” Rick greeted in a mockingly warm voice, looking up from making lunch and grunting in laughter. “I’d ask how your meeting went this morning, but I can guess by that shiner you got goin’ on that it didn’t go well.” He laughed again, as if he’d made some hilarious joke. Vera rolled her eyes in annoyance, her back to the two. “Come on, you can’t take a punch without getting ice? Do I need to call the healer for you, Jaii?”

Jaii, Jaii…was that the son? Jaii Talon, so it had to be. Probably just like his father and uncle…hey, if he was hurt then it might actually brighten her mood to see another member of the family. Vera sat up and turned I her seat, arm thrown over the back of her chair. Hm, she could only see his back. Nice hair…she wondered if it was natural or just done for attention. And he looked buff enough to defend himself, so why did he get hit? What did the other guy look like?

“So, is that a thing around here? Throw a few punches before lunch, somebody ends up in the hospital by dinner?” Vera hissed at the boys. “My Rick, I see why you came to get me. You wouldn’t stand on your feet for two minutes in a fight.” If she was going to be forced here, she would make her company as unpleasant as possible. Wearing a smug grin her brown eyes flickered from Jaii’s back to Rick’s, until he turned around.

“Vera, dear, what was I thinking making my own lunch? That’s your job now, isn’t it? Next time, then,” he muttered, shoving past Jaii as he brought his lunch to sit with her at the table. “Jaii, have you met my mate? A lovely women, as you can tell already.”
