Furnace nodded and handed the man the golden sheets.
He wondered who hell was, but he or she didn't interrupt him when he gave the gold.
The ritual seemed complete as Furnace accepted the net in return and held it aloft in wonder.
What magics could this staff hold?
"Now we do the same with.. bread.. right?"
Furnace tried to imagine what bread was. The words sounded like broad. So he expected it to be flat and heavy, like a broadsword.
Based on the reactions of the merchant and the recloacked man Furnace guessed he had messed something up.
He looked with large sad eyes at Vis, then at the merchant, then at Vis again.
"Now what?"

Agility Bitches!

I could share a room with Alula... (please let one of the tents be broken so we have to share.

Such fortune, I see 4 burning tents and one exploding tent in your immediate future! Is this what you wanted?
To Furnace's surprise there was a hidden element to the ritual.
The recloacked man corrected him but he didn't know why. The man behind the table seemed to have no problem with the way he was chanting.
He suggested an incantation returning a riddle.
Perhaps this was an advanced form of magic. A ritual using less materials didn't seem like logical step up.
Then again, some materials needed to smelt longer at lower temperatures. Maybe this was similar.
In the same way, only slightly more confused, Furnace shouted his incantation at the shopkeep.
"How low are you willing to go?"
Succes! The first stage of the ritual was going without a hitch.
Furnace pulled out the fat sack of coins and reach in to count and take 10 coins exactly.
He checked again to be absolutely sure he had the right amount, then placed the coins on the counter and waited in exited anticipation to see if it would work.

Muhahahaha.

So.... tent pairings. I think Kelvin and Furnace are a gpod pair... (he is space efficient and can heat a space...)

"You want me to heat up the tents? Okay"

*Fwoosh*

1 head or other limb, and half of an average-sized body

Furnace fit's in the net!
Furnace wanted to try this wonder thing.
He chose a random stand and walked up to it.
He could't see what was on the table but as he looked up he saw the strangest thing hanging from the tarp hanging over the stand.
It was a long wooden staff ending in a circle. In the circle a weave made of tightly spun rope was attached.
It made him think of the spider's webbing. The handle and shape suggested the staff was a tool for some job or function.
Furnace was dying to know what it was. He stepped back so he could meet the shop keepers gaze.
He pointed up at the butterfly net as he stood there in shabby rags and bare feet. His appearance suggested he couldn't buy anything here,
but Furnace didn't know that. With utmost concentration Furnace looked at the shop keep and shouted "How Much!"
How many people can 1 tent hold?

How many people can 1 butterfly net hold?

I truly am the master bargainer!

You could try seducing the register girl, she seems awfully interested in Separ's evening plans.
A strange sense of familiarity came over Furnace as he watched Rose.
The way she moved with confident certainty, talked clearly and boasted extensive knowledge on food creation.
Using many arcane terms Furnace wasn't familiar with. Though strangely she specifically called the iron giant 'a man of the cloth'.
All of her was completely alien to Furnace. And yet something resonated with him and he couldn't figure out what it was.

"Perhaps you could take this one? It seems he could use an education in the wonders of commerce."

Education

The steel-clad friend had proposed Furnace forged a bond with the uncloaked man like the one with the voice.
This idea made Furnace see Vis in a different light. Could he and the voice be alike? Furnace was sceptical, but intrigued.

The food conjurer wished to join Vis, she probably also wanted an education in 'the wonders of commerce'
If they were indeed alike, perhaps the idea made sense. Furnace now wished to follow as well.
They would learn these wonders, and then maybe she would demonstrate her food conjuring.
Furnace followed the two trough the market.

The uncloaked man moved swiftly and with calculated step. He knew where he was going.
Furnace chose to walk next to the food conjurer. He felt compelled to find out more about her.
"Uhm. It is a pleasure to meet a woman of stews and roasted meats."

Furnace stood next to her and struggled to divide attention to her and the uncloaked man who suddenly took a turn to approach one of the tables with crafting materials. Presumably so he could demonstrate the first lesson.

The first wonder was a small ritual riddle.

The instigator chooses a fabric and speaks the incantation "How much"
The man at the table gives a number, the instigator must meet that number in golden sheets.

A simple test if you know the ritual. Why the sheets were golden or what the purpose of this ritual was was unclear to Furnace.
