Your world was you know it is about to come to an end. Aliens have seeded Earth with trillions of fast moving, voracious, spider-like creatures that attack, bite, poison, and eat just about any warm blooded animal, particular humans.
They have one weakness though: they will not go on to a hard packed surface such as concrete, blacktop, rock, tile, etc. They might not even travel on ice, but we'll have to see, won't we?
Because of this behavior, the human survivors flee to the cities, in contrast to what you see in most of your science fiction movies and television series where city people are usually fleeing to the countryside.
