I did have an idea that might fit though, since the bronze age does not seem possible. What if: During the 1300's, the Black Death ravaged Europe. Spreading across the continent, the plague took no prisoners as it slaughtered farmers, artisans and royalty. Finally, after over 10 years of destruction, the plague seems to have finally dissipated. What peasants find however is their nations ruined, the populations decimated, and their rulers either dead or exiled. Through the ashes of destruction, new nations are to be born, ruled by daring men and women. We could do something like this. That way, new nations can emerge, some even based off of old ruling kingdoms, etc. We could even retcon it further, making the plague last even longer and killing even more people then historically. The game would have a slight apocalyptic edge to it and allow player creation.
Hmmm, that is an issue. My main problem is trying to find a way to create something ancient/medieval but allowing others to create their own Empires/Kingdoms. I could make it more early medieval and just allow people to create Empires from that. Tech from early 1200 but no political lines of any sort.
http://i.imgur.com/ksTgr1U.png Game Details: RaF will be a game starting out in ancient history. However, unlike our original timeline, no one has really banded together to create a full nation just yet. Starting out with a small territory and a rich history, you will create a nation from scratch and build an empire. The game will technically start at year 0, and technology will be ancient. Spears, copper blades, etc., will be the norm to start out. Eventually, as years progress, nations will be able to progress forward in their tech and invent weapons, etc. I am looking for 5 nations to start, as I believe that number is perfect for me to role-play with. As the Over-god, I will make sure wars are balanced, growth is fair, etc. I will even RP out some NPC nations people can gang up on. I am merely looking for interest right now. I am currently writing out mechanics which will probably be point based to start. If there are any ideas or comments, please do so. Again, merely looking for interest before I write out something huge on the site.
The year is 2130. The Terminus Research Corporation has sent out an SOS to all available mercenaries in the Sol system. The company, headquartered on Earth, is responsible for many global defense contracts and biological studies. With over 12 different biological stations situated throughout the system, Terminus fields thousands of employees and is well-known throughout human space. Its CEO, Robert Geary, recently inherited the company from his father, the original founder, over 10 years ago. This about the time Terminus turned towards more defense contracts then medical research. You attend the briefing being held in the Terminus Headquarters, where a stout, ex-military commander is giving the address. He is rather large and has several scars pocked across his face, many of them definitely years old. Direct and gruff, the commander eyes the mercenaries as he speaks, and it is completely evident he is not a fan of your kind. “At 0300 this morning, we received a distress call from the Terminus Biological Research Station. Code-named Tiberius, the station is in orbit around Mars, and fields a large amount of biological research. An environmental station, Tiberius was one of the first stations Terminus put into orbit, and as such, it is rather large. We have added capacity to the station for over 20 years. As such, the station is home to a large amount of scientists, their families and a respective company guard.” The commander is interrupted by an aide who passes him papers as she whispers into his ear. He nods quickly, folds the papers, and continues on wards with the discussion. “Like I was saying, Tiberius sent out a distress call this morning. Since then, we have not had the ability to contact Tiberius. Company engineers suspect damage to one of the COMM panels and the distress call was merely the only way Tiberius could reach out to us.” Sighing and rubbing his face in impatience, the commander takes a deep breath. “Normally, this type of mission would be taken care of by company employees, but our manpower here is a little low. Recent discoveries near Saturn have taken a large amount of our resources up. Because of this, we are paying the lot of you to deliver a small contingent of Engineers to the Tiberius. You will go there, fix the COMM situation, and report back immediately. Payment is 250,000 credits to start, and another 250,000 when you return.” ------------------------------ This sci-fi/horror role-play will be done with at least 4 players. I'd like to see at least a post a day from players or at minimum a post every 2. You will play a mercenary of your creation that accepts a lucrative job that seems easy enough. Players are allowed to create history for their characters. The game is set in the future, with spaceflight becoming rather simple and easy enough for people to do. The moon, Mars and several moons of both Jupiter and Saturn have been lightly colonized, and much of humanity in space live in large stations. Weapons have progressed to what are called 'charges', where bullets are super-charged when fired from a rifle. Lasers are incredibly experimental and have not been shrunk to man-made weapons yet. Armor suits are advanced enough as well, with full mechanical suits being available. Earth, as far as space goes, has united as the United Global Initiative. This group of nations takes care of all things space, and even regulates the many companies that operate in orbit over planets. Also, they regulate the various colonies humanity has control of. In addition, no aliens or anything of the sort have been discovered just yet. This game will take on a similar theme of several video games. I have drawn inspiration from several games, such as Dead Space, Metroid, Doom and others. As such, this will be a survival game where your group is tasked with a mission and must complete it. I will not be playing a character, but rather an 'over-god' that plays NPCs and gives your characters choices. This is merely an interest check to see if anyone would like to pursue this game. I think it could be a large amount of fun, and I hope people are interested enough to make characters. If there are any questions at all, please do not hesitate to ask them. Also, lore can be expanded upon, just as long as I okay it and it makes sense.
