Assuming a perfectly rational France, you wouldn't want either Austria nor Prussia strengthened. A balance of power Austria threatened by DOWing me.

I think we all know the war was coming eventually. France siding with Austria here is the logical choice, especially if Austria has no German ambitions of its own.

>Defeat Prussia.
>Put a buffer state in the Rhineland.
>Put a buffer state in Belgium.

Logically, France would want to surround itself with states that can't do anything to it. A unified German state would be the last thing France wants, and as long as Austria is interested in maintaining the status quo, i.e. no Germany, it's a logical alliance.
The Qing is a Manchu dynasty. You'd think they'd want Outer Manchuria back much more than some uninhabited parts of Tibet that Britain could just as easily give them anyway.

Also, China has given no indication that it's joining Britain and France as much as it's becoming a co-belligerent the same way that the United States and France simultaneously fought Britain in 1812.

Chinese participation in The War of the Alliance With a Silly Name isn't as grand as you seem to be making it. China isn't selling its soul to Britain or France.
So Boerd said I feel OOC weighed much more than IC in this call.

From the standpoint of somebody who is playing China and just looking at the states he was given, it's a sensible decision. This is the perfect opportunity for him to seize back any territory that Russia has taken from him and to expel him from China. With Russia busy in Europe and the Caucasus and partially blockaded, it's the best opportunity China is going to get to win a war against him. On top of that, Russian infrastructure is severely lacking, and actually getting armies all the way to the other side of the continent will prove even more difficult than China marching its armies northward.

This is opportunism more than anything, I think. China is risking a lot, yeah, but it also has a lot to gain. If it wins, the Emperor would probably win some major support for his reforms at home and get a lot of public support from successfully beating back a European power.

Yeah, Kho is the devil. How dare he.

It's possible to both tolerate something and express concerns about it simultaneously.

I think what you do is somewhat more than "expressing concerns" about something.
I don't complain about alliances in this game for the same reason I don't complain about how they work in Victoria 2. I don't really care about being super accurate, and it's fairly logical for people to align with people who they have similar interests regardless of whether or not there's bad history between the two states that they may or may not know about.

This is somewhat unrealistic, sure but not nuclear weapons unrealistic. Plus, Outcast knew about this alliance in advance, as long as he gives the okay, I don't care. I'm just in it to play a game.

Someone goes in head first out of a sense of bravado or a "let's just get this over with" attitude, rest follow along and we take it from there. We just have to decide who that someone should be.

Not it!

If an alien invasion occured at this point in history, our only hope is a War of the Worlds effect. That said I read a great Mass Effect fanfiction that had the Quarian's uplifting humanity during WWII. They sided with the Nazis.

Name and link pls.
Hopefully you're just going on vacation or something, in which case, have fun!

We'll try to make sure you still have a Russia to come back to, jk, jk.
Yeah, having somewhat of a hard time thinking of a post.

If nobody made mention of decisions that go off the rails of reality, the eastern seaboard would be swarming with ships flying the Union Jack. I don't like having to complain, but it is absolutely necessary for to mention the infeasibility of some of the actions taken by particular players.

Outcast is the only one who can determine what should and should not happen in this game, so I'm not sure why you're complaining so much. Presumably, he approved of the blockade, the revolt against the queen, the Sino-Japanese alliance, and, most recently, China's intervention in the war. If you don't like it, I imagine you could just bring it up with him in private, telling him that you disagree with the course that this game is taking, or, alternatively, not play. Nobody is forcing you to play a game with Pasta Sentient and MagnificentOne.

somebody is getting a little defensive.

That's what happens when somebody puts everything you do under a microscope and complains at every given opportunity. Pasta is a good roleplayer and a cool guy, but just about anyone is going to get mad if somebody is constantly criticizing their actions.
