Current Ever had that moment were you've just lost a battle of wills with your dog and think to yourself, "maybe I should be the one sleeping on the floor"? I have. It's oddly liberating.

My Lit Lecturer used Matt Fraction's Hawkeye run to display the effect of narratology in class today. It's the first thing he's spoken about all term that I've actually read.

How good is the Punisher in Netflix's Daredevil series? "Just some guys who are about to walk into a diner for the last time." That line is so manly it could make a toddler sprout a beard.

The Justice League trailer is giving me mixed emotions. On the one hand, I desperately want to get hyped. On the other, Snyder and co have burnt me too many times in the past. I'm a conflicted mess.

Russel Skronsky, or Leather-Jacket to Caine, didn't stop running for a long time, not until his legs were burning and his chest felt ready to burst, and even then he didn't stop moving. He kept stumbling forwards, the imagined terrors of what the stranger at Lord of the Wings would do to him if he caught acting like a cracking whip that seen him fleeing back to his apartment over twelve blocks away like a dog with it's tail between his legs. Even there he didn't feel safe, triple locking his door and pulling shut his curtains and blinds.

It took time, and not a small amount of cheap whiskey, but when he did he started to come to the realization that because Charlie and Niall had been taken down and for all he knew killed then that left it up to him to contact Mr Stone to make him aware of the situation. A dire prospect, as Mr Stone isn't the type that you would want to be bringing bad news to. The phrase "don't shoot the messenger" never really seemed to have much effect on him. As daunting a task as it was though Skronsky knew he had to do it, and do it quick. It would be like removing a band-aid, better to get it over with quick. With a sigh he dropped himself into his couch, picked up his phone and dialed.

It rang for so long that Skronsky actually began to hope that it would never get picked up, but his shitty luck for the day held up and the call was answered on the last ring.

"Mr Skronsky. To what do I owe the pleasure." Redford Stone, known to the general public as the owner of a chain of fitness gyms and healthy living delicatessens, while rumored to be the head of an extortion and steroid dealing racket, was master at the faux-pleasant greeting. His voice was as warm as bread fresh from the oven and as smooth as honey from the comb, but Skronsky had been working for Mr Stone long enough to know that the man's explosive temper was never far from the surface.

"Eh. . . There's been a problem boss. With the wing joint." Skronsky involuntarily winces, ready for the fallout.

"A problem you say? Now what sort of problem could that be, pray tell Mr Skronsky?" Stone's voice is deceptively calm when he answers, that coupled with his verbosity, which he only ever employs before he explodes at someone, is never a good sign.

"Well it was going well, Giovanni was just about to cave, when some guy came outta nowhere, packing heat. He took out Charlie and Niall, I had him on the ropes but the cops caught wind of the commotion so I had to bail out before they collared me. For all I know Charlie and Niall have been pinched, or maybe even dead. That guy was crazy."

The line was quiet for what seemed like an age after that, but could have only been about ten seconds. Still, it was more than long enough for Russel to seriously consider putting down the phone and fleeing the city. At that moment it seemed like the safest option. Then the bomb hit.

"WHAT THE F**K DO YOU MEAN SOME GUY!!! THAT'S WHAT I PAY YOU RE**RDS FOR, TO DEAL WITH THE GUY'S. SWEET F*****G CHRIST, IF I GOTTA DEAL WITH THIS F*****G THING MYSELF SO HELP ME GOD, THE THINGS I'LL DO TO YOU SKRONSKY, NOT EVEN YOUR WHORE MOTHER WILL BE ABLE TO IDENTIFY YOUR USELESS ASS! GET F*****G BACK THERE AND GET MY F*****G MONEY!" The phone beeped then, signifying the call was over, leaving Russel into no doubt that he had just been given his orders. Having them and acting on them were to separate beasts though, and he didn't think that he'd have anymore luck with that big, barbarian looking guy at the diner this time than he did the first time. Not like he could run though, Mr Stone would find him to easy. He was literally stuck between a rock and a hard place.

"Damn." whispered Russel.
@Shard, Couple of things pal. What levels of arcane energy does Leo wield, is he a gifted child prodigy with magic, or a simple layman? And what do you mean by physical manifestations? I'd also like to know more about the coven Leo came from, in particular how they can be considered corrupt, like what sort of things do they do that drove Leo away, and why do they still hunt him? Then why did Zatanna find him interesting, what sort of things did he do to merit her attention?

The last bit is just a small thing, but we're not the Titans. We're simply called the team, like in the Young Justice cartoon.

Ah okay. Sounds fair. Well, okay, I'll start working on a heroic character. For mentors, is Wonder Woman available? I can understand if she isn't.

Wonder Woman is still around, but she is currently on Paradise Isle, fufilling her role as its queen. Her place on the League has been taken by her one time foe Giganta. If your wanting Wonder Woman as a mentor though PM me with your concept and we'll see if we can work something out.

Well, I'm certainly interested. However, before I start working on a CS, I would like to know if I could play a rogue teen hero who could serve as a re-occurring villain who may (or may not) join Young Justice later on?

That's a concept that has been bounced around a few times, but has ultimately been considered off limits for the moment.
The Justice League is getting older in 2021. While most of it's founding members are in their early to mid-forties, Superman himself still looks nearly the same he had over a decade prior. The League had gone through several incarnations over the years. There were also splinter units like the Justice League of America and the JL United, as well as the JL Dark led by none other than John Constantine. In the year 2021 however, heroic metahumans are in the decline. Most alien races that don't appear to be human are often shunned by society, the now more alien Green Lantern from the planet Tandax is banned from Earth. The economy in the United States is still fighting a losing battle. Crime rates, especially metahuman crime, was up a record 120% from this time in 2010. Law Enforcement have began to equip themselves more in keeping for the time, wearing heavier armour and wielding state of the art non-lethal AND lethal weaponry. Most metahumans operating as heroes are not welcomed by all of the 2021 law enforcers. Only the League has been officially sanctioned by the President of the 'States: Clara Kendall. Young heroes have been 'sponsored' by the remaining members of the League to operate in Star City, the former home of the now deceased Green Arrow and one of the larger metropolitan cities with increased metahuman crime. The Young Justice program has kept many a young superhuman from going rogue. Can the young heroes take back Star City from the grips of chaos and become full fledged members of the Justice League?

Based in an alternate DC universe, taking broad strokes from the Young Justice, classic comics and the New 52, YJ2021 is a game were, as a new teen hero mentored by one of the League, you join the Young Justice team. Take note that YJ2021 is a game currently in progress, and your character would be getting pulled in the deep end in the middle of a crises.

Great. It'll be a while till I really do anything with them, but at least I know I've got access to them when I'm ready.
You good for the pad right now KL?
The rest of the team milled around Orbit, Plas and Hellfire as the two tried to save the one, each member unsure of what to do. Even Ditto was at a loss. There was so much going on all at the one time it was hard to prioritize, hard to decide which crises to tackle first, where to leverage their strength to make best use of it while letting everywhere else burn. Between Gabe’s injuries and the attacks by these new cyborgs this was easily the biggest disaster they had ever faced. There was no reference point in how to deal with this, the only thing that was obvious being that any choices they made now would almost certainly have an effect on the future well-being on not just Star City but all of the world. But what too choose?

Their distraction was interrupted by a sudden influx of cold air. There sounded a whoosh, like some invisible giant was taking a great gulp of air, and the space behind them shimmered as if the molecules where dancing. The noise built to a crescendo in the space between heartbeats, until it built to a reverberating boom, the likes of which makes you think your eardrums might have popped. A yellow energy materialized in front of them, quickly forming a spinning portal. From the portal stepped out three recognizable forms. First came the golden blur, the Living Lightning, the Fastest Man Alive, The Flash. Behind him, cape billowing in the wind generated by the boom tube, was the Dark Knight of Gotham himself, Batman. The Caped Crusader was straining with the third man, struggling to cart the legless torso of Cyborg, recently returned to the League and the obvious source of the boom tube. All three bore signs of battle, the partially dismembered Cyborg being the most obvious but the Batman and Flash were both blood stained and wearied too. The Dark Knight lay Cyborg down on the floor, the part-man part-machine propping himself up on his elbows.

"Team I. . . " began Batman, his voice all gravel and hard edges, before he glimpsed Hellfire lain out on the couch. For a moment only does the Dark Knights steely composure slip at the sight of his young ward injured, the image of the stern, unrelenting warrior of the night giving way to a hurting old man for just a heartbeat, before he slips his iron mask back on and returning straight to business.

"What has happened too Hellfire? His wounds don't seem consistent to the weapons the Tomorrow Woman's forces have at their disposal." Says the Batman. It isn't a question, not really, not the usual request for information a normal person would make. From him it is a statement demanding the blanks be filled in, waiting only for the other person to comply. Ditto took lead, filling the Dark Knight into what has happened. When he finished the Batman seemed pensive for a few minutes before walking towards Gabe, pulling Orbit away, not urgently, before leaning in-front of the pyromancer. The Caped Crusader spent several more moments looking Gabe over, before turning to the Golden Speedster.

"Flash, there is a bottle in the top left hand cabinet of the med bay marked LOS anti-toxin 16, Tiger Snake. Syringes too." The Flash didn't question him, instead just diapering in a crack of thunder and a streak of lightning. The Fastest Man was back as quick as he had left, a small bottle of anti-toxin in one hand and a syringe gun in the other. He handed them to Batman who then applied it to Gabe, injecting him in the young heroes arm.

"You should start to regain use of your limbs shortly. Fortunately for us that means you'll be battle ready in about twenty minutes. Though I'd like to find out why you were battling the League of Shadows, and I'm assuming it has something to do with the conspicuous-by-his-absence Fenrir, that is a question for after this current crises is solved. Gather round team, I've got a lot to tell you and not a lot of time to tell it." The team did as they were told, all listening in rapt attention to what the Dark Knight had to say.

"Clara Kendall, currently the president of the United States, has instructed her newly minted cyborg police forces to attack the Justice League while simultaneously declaring martial law in all the major cities across America. She has combined this with open executions in the meta-human prisons. No one is quite sure why yet, though I aim to find out. All we do know is that we need to stop her now before she consolidates her power any further."

"The League is either fighting for their lives or trying to stop fatalities building. Taking down Kendall is being left to us. To do this we are going to utilize a three pronged attack. The team will be split into two. Team one will be Hellfire, Owlet, Frostbite, Shadowdancer, and Brick, who will be laying siege to the Star City police headquarters, for two reasons. Firstly Star City PD is one of Kendall's strongest forces, and she will almost certainly believe that is where the team is making its concentrated attack, allowing team two consisting of myself, Ditto, Shock, Orbit, Plastic Man, Fate and Brick to assault the Whitehouse, and Kendall, directly and covertly."

"But even that is a holding action. Our real offensive is on a plane none of us can access, save Cyborg. He shall remain here, injured as he is, awaiting team one to reach the mainframe hub located in the SCPD commissioners office. There you will insert a flash-drive containing an linking software to Cyborg, allowing him access the polices virtual up-link. It is our belief that the cyborg police force is linked by a kind of quantum entanglement, meaning that if our Cyborg can disrupt their signal then we should be able to cripple the entire force. Any questions?"
