As an update I have received permission to post my picture of Calle's original character Nelly Roselips to this topic.

As stated above this is noncommercial and I make no money from this. The character is the intellectual property of Calle, I have and express no ownership of the character. This was made because I enjoyed reading the character sheet submitted by Calle to the Character Creation Contest #1 in the writing contest sub topic of this site and I thought it would make for an interesting artistic endeavor. I would like to thank @Calle for having given me the inspiration to make my first foray into digital art as well as @Mae for having inspired the idea of trying digital art in the first place. I would also like to thank roleplayerguild for hosting the contest as well as the community that makes contests such as these possible.

As an edit to this: the offer to at least sketch The First Thing posted here that isn't violating the site or my rules still stands.
A brief description of what I plan on doing here: I am not much of an artist. I am, however, very interested in learning and gradually improving myself. I am also a veteran of play by post style roleplaying forums over the course of several years now. I've never gone out of my way to try and tackle digital art before but, while lurking around this site and mulling on my interest in exploring digital art I had an idea. Try and make a picture based on something interesting I'd read here (which naturally led me to read up on the current and last guild writing contests in that sub section) and if I liked the finished result ask the people whose characters I had drawn as an artistic experiment permission to post the pictures here. Beyond that I decided that if I enjoyed the experience I would continue making pictures associated with this site. If I didn't make anything I liked enough to display publically I could easily just keep lurking around the site reading stuff and occasionally considering making an account if I found a roleplay concept that sounded interesting never having to mention that I tried and failed to make passable art.

I did complete a couple of pictures that I liked enough to post publically, and I even found that I enjoyed making them. So I made a deviantart to put the pictures up on and made an account on here, sent out PMs to the two relevant parties to request permission to post the pictures here and decided to make this topic in The Gallery to display those pictures if their respective original creators want them posted here as well as to display anything I make here in the future. To that end this topic is chronicling my initial foray into digital art as associated with roleplayerguild. If I join in on any active roleplays here I'll probably make pictures of my own characters to post here. If I read a concept or character that I feel like I want to paint I'll ask permission and if the content creator is interested I'll make it and post it here.

This is not a shop. All images on the deviantart associated with my account are noncommercial and (unless they are of my own characters or are otherwise specifically stated to be my intellectual property) are considered fanart. I don't accept commissions at this time and would like to remind the reader that I have made two digital art pictures and consider myself a total amateur hobbyist. I will however entertain the idea of making a picture on a case by case basis based upon an individual asking me to make a picture for them. I credit @Mae with having inspired me to try my hand at digital art. While reading around the site I came across the "Drawing Characters!" gallery and thought to myself, "I kind of want to learn how to make digital art. I bet drawing stuff off of this roleplay forum I look over from time to time would be a great way to do that! If I can make anything that looks half as good as Mae's stuff I'll totally post it!". My stuff does not look half as good as Mae's incredible work. I seriously recommend checking out the "Drawing Characters!" gallery. My stuff is close enough to half as good that I decided to go through with the challenge I had set for myself.

To that end I would challenge you to challenge yourself artistically. Try something with your writing that you have considered doing for a while but never quite went through with, post it here, and I will consider making a picture of it for you if you'd like. I don't mean challenge yourself to do something irl and - I can't state this enough - I do not want to hear about actual irl challenges from anyone. I'm looking for that different kind of character to what you usually play that you always wanted to make but never quite got around to. The short story or stand alone piece of writing that you'd considered doing but always felt was too far a stretch from your norm. I'll even accept something you tried that is in a different genre than you're used to if you can sell me on it. From time to time I may even state a particular theme or direct "challenge," that I'm interested in at the moment and if you submit something that I like and you can justify it as fitting the theme I'll make it.

The Rules:
1) Follow all regular rules of the website with regard to posting in this thread, associated threads, and when messaging me.
2) Just because you've posted something here doesn't mean I'm obliged to read it, let alone make you art.
3) I do not accept money, and I do not make art for free. Everyone pays something. Any characters, writings, etc., are your intellectual property and I make no claim on any of that. Likewise all of the art is my property though the person I made it for has full authority to use it however they want except by selling or profiting off of it without getting my approval. The concept is yours, the pixels were put there by me.
3.5) What I am looking for is for each submission to break from what you typically do. Sometimes I might issue a particular theme, probably a bonkers one you'll have to totally bs your way through. Sometimes I'll just accept whatever random stuff gets posted here because you justified yourself well or I just liked the entry.

Submission specific rules:
1) Unless I specifically state in the particular "Challenge," of the moment that I want a character sheet, short story, etc. I'll accept basically whatever you write assuming it follows the site rules.
2) Please put your actual post in a hider and give a justification under it of why this is something that either fits the "Challenge," or is something that was new and unique to you.
3) As a rule I want all submissions to be posted in this thread rather than messaged to me. This is because I don't want anything so adult I can't post a picture of it publically. It stands to reason that if it's being posted here publically by you it can't be too gratuitous.
4) The pictures are up on a DeviantArt I created for the purpose of displaying RPG specific digital art. They don't get posted anywhere else but in this thread and on that particular DeviantArt (at least not by me). If you want them taken down ask within a couple weeks.
4.5) "A couple weeks!?" With the sole exception of the two individuals I've contacted regarding the pictures I made already, two weeks is the length of time I can reasonably guarantee that I can and will take the picture down. Those two instead will have the pictures taken down in a couple weeks if they don't specifically say they want it up.
4.5.5) I feel no requirement to check in on my messages every day for the next six years just to make sure you didn't randomly decide you wanted your picture taken down months or years from now. If you post anything here and I make fanart based on it I will try to be accommodating if in a month or so after it goes up you decide you want it down, but I cannot and will not guarantee that I'll be actively checking the account any more than two weeks after any given picture goes up.
5) Do not include any pictures, face claims, or reference art in anything you post here or I'll just ignore it. I use reference art of course. I do not want your's because I don't want to be drawing a particular dress or particular katana or whatever rather than drawing what you described in writing and what I inferred from said writing.
6) You likely will not be pleased with my finished product. You also aren't paying any money for it, so I can't guarantee any degree of quality.
7) By, "try something new," I mean writing about something out of your norm you've considered tackling for a while but haven't gotten around to. Never worked outside of anime/fandom? Try something historical. Never done text based arena type stuff? Make a character and go try it out. Always wanted to write a short story independent of your normal roleplaying collaborations? Try it out. Then tell my about why the particular thing you submitted was new, difficult or just different for you. If I like it I'll do a picture of it assuming it follows all the other rules of this thread and the website, though again I do not guarantee that I'll do a picture just because you post something here.
7.5) I do not mean try something new irl because I don't want to hear about how after reading this you finally decided to start jogging or worked up the courage to ask that super oblivious hot guy in your sociology class out. I'm here to read fictional stories and decide if I like them or not. On that note just because I don't make a picture of something doesn't mean I didn't like it, just that it wasn't the first thing to catch my eye in any given week or so. I have other things going on and don't have all day every day to draw everything that someone can justify is a new writing experience for them.
7.5.5) I will make an exception to the rule of everything being in writing if you, too, are interested in learning how to draw, paint, make digital art or whatever and wanted to make something pc enough not to violate any website rules that you were willing to post publically in this thread. Basically a trade that would be dependent on you agreeing to all of the stipulations laid out in this post.

Did any of that make sense? I don't know. It might make more sense if people are interested enough to try it out. I'm giving it fifty fifty odds that either no one cares about this or that it gets a submission or two, I make a couple pictures for the first couple posts and then it gets a following of around five or six consistent entrants joining in over three or four months.

Of course as of this moment there isn't any art here. I haven't heard back from anyone regarding permission and don't expect to for several hours to a day or so. It's entirely possible that both relevant parties will want their art taken down and there won't be any art here for a week. Because of that distinct possibility I will make a specific, one time offer to at least sketch The First Thing anyone posts here that isn't in violation of site rules or my rules. Good luck contestants, and good hunting. You deserve it for making it all the way through this giant description of what is basically an, "I make the peoples artz," thread.
Hello all, I'm antiquarian. I've been in and out of the play by post roleplay scene for years and spent quite a while lurking around this site before deciding to make this account. I may or may not use this account for much roleplay proper, but have recently become interested in (very) amateur digital art creation and gained some inspiration from recent writing competitions here that I watched develop from the sidelines. Assuming I wouldn't be happy with the finished product of my initial musings into making art on the computer I decided to wait until I had something worth posting to actually join at all. In the process I wound up with a couple pieces of fanart directly tied to the current and last writing contest done on here. After a week's consideration or so I decided they were worth showing off so here I am. Chances are pretty high that I'll just post the two I have done maybe make a few more, get bored and move on but who knows. Either way, glad to be here and wish everyone all the best.

As a disclaimer I have the art up on a DeviantArt I made for the purpose that is tagged appropriately as fanart, is totally noncommercial and credits this site and the competitions/content creators as appropriate. I make no money off of any of it and don't intend to. All relevant parties will be informed and asked for permission to post the content on this site before it is made public here and, if they don't want it up at all, it will be removed from the DeviantArt, deleted or archived as appropriate and I'll just consider it a valuable digital art learning experience which is what this was all about for me in the first place.
