Bio

Not sure if I'm interesting enough to warrant a bio, but it's here, so I'm going to write it anyway! I'm Arcelia, a 23-year-old baker from Texas (yeehaw, I guess?) I've been roleplaying for over 12 years now, and my other hobbies include reading, board games, and target shooting (archery, not guns, thank you very much.) I tend to prefer historical and fantasy stories, and I don't bite (unless you ask me to!) so feel free to pop on by anytime you'd like to chat.

Thread completely reworked! Still looking for partners.
Thank you for the welcomes! I really appreciate it. This certainly seems like a friendly place.

Hey everyone! Arcelia here. I'm here because (and this might shock you...) I'm looking for... A partner! I know, surprising, right? Oh, but what's this? You want to know a bit more about me? Well, I suppose I can manage that. I'm a 23 year old baker from Texas (yee-haw!) I enjoy reading, writing (duh), and archery. And probably the most important thing I should tell you is that I have a medical condition that can sometimes prevent me from getting on the computer for days or even a week (+) at a time, without advanced warning, so my availability can be a bit spotty. In fact, I'm just returning to the site after a prolonged episode that caused be to step away from computer use for quite a while. Patience is a virtue, you know, and I'll need a lot of it from you. Now that that's said, I have a habit of writing request threads that rival a novel for length. However, I know that that scares a lot of people off (for good reason) so I'm going to try and keep it short and sweet. Key word being try. Good? Alright, now without further ado (so sorry if you were really looking forward to the ado), let's get things started, shall we?

  • Sporadic reply lengths (again, patience is appreciated), but usually at least one a week. Sometimes more. Sometimes it will take longer. It just depends on my health.
  • 3+ paragraphs per post, minimum. Sometimes I can write 10+ if particularly inspired.
  • I think I have pretty decent grammar and spelling. I'll make mistakes, of course- everyone does- but I do my best.
  • I enjoy detail. A character's thoughts and feelings, what they see, hear, smell, etc. I will describe scenes in depth.
  • I'm patient. I won't rush you for replies, and don't mind slower-posting partners.
  • I'm pretty chill and can work with most things, so long as you communicate with me.
  • I am someone who enjoys taking charge and driving a story forward. I'm not at all a passive partner. In fact,
  • I'm someone who enjoys writing stories that have a GM/player type feel to them, so if that interests you feel free to let me know!
  • I like world- and character-building. I will do a good bit of this in our story.
  • I will have multiple main characters. Period. I get bored with only one. I will also have side characters.
  • I usually prefer writing as female characters. However, I can and will write males. I don't feel comfortable with other genders, simply because I don't have experience and don't want to accidentally portray them in an insensitive way.
  • I only write mxf pairings. Nothing against mxm or fxf, but I'm not familiar enough with mxm to feel comfortable with writing it and I'm burnt out on fxf right now. I might consider a pairing with a partner whose character is a different gender besides male or female if you have a convincing enough offer.
  • I will write mature content, assuming my partner is at least 18. However, it is never required (for any idea) and I am more than happy to write with partners of any age. If you are interested in mature content (and are an adult...) we can talk about that in more detail in private messages.

I'm not an unreasonable person, so think of this section not as rules, but as a wish list. These are things I want in a partner, but don't require. Just because you don't meet all of them doesn't mean I won't write with you...

  • ...But this one is a requirement. Read my whole request thread! Or at the very least, this section and everything above it- you can skip the details of plots that don't sound interesting, or my fandom list if you aren't interested in that. But I expect my partners to read about me and my expectations. I've noticed some people ask for a "passphrase" to prove you've read the thread, but I'm not going to bother with that. Why? Because I can usually tell within the first few messages whether you've read the thread or not. It's not that long, so please just put in a few minutes and do it, 'mkay? Thanks.
  • Please be patient. If I've gone a week or longer without responding, feel free to nudge me, but please don't do so more frequently than that.
  • I enjoy partners who are semi-passive partners. That doesn't mean I don't want you to have an opinion, because I do. It just means I'd love for you to work with one of my ideas and understand that I have specific ideas in mind. But I want you to give your input on important points, and I do want to make a story that you will enjoy too.
  • A lot of my plots work best with multiple characters, so I prefer a partner who is willing to write at least 2 main characters. As a note, if you come to me proposing an idea that requires me to write more than one character, I require you to be willing to write more than one if asked. If you have a problem with that then you'll have to find a different partner for your idea.
  • Grammar is pretty important to me. I don't expect you to be perfect, but I do expect that you do your best, whatever that may be.
  • I prefer partners who can usually write at least 3 paragraphs per post. Obviously it might be shorter at times (during a conversation, for example) but I'd prefer that to be the exception, not the rule. And I do expect a minimum of one paragraph per post at all times. I'm sorry, but one-liners just won't hold my interest.
  • I completely understand that people have a preferred character gender, and that's fine with me. However, if you insist that you only write one gender, that could be problematic, especially if you will only write as female characters. If I'm willing to compromise on what character gender I write then it's only fair to want my partner to be willing to do the same.
  • Please include detail, including character thought and descriptions of the scene. That is what really makes the story come to life for me.

Genres:
  • Fantasy- Probably the genre I write the most, and one of my favorites.
  • Historical- This one is one of my absolute favorite genres, and it's really hard to find, especially since I only write pre-Industrial Revolution eras, so if you are willing to write this I will probably love you forever.
  • Action/Adventure- Most of my stories will have at least some element of action and/or adventure.
  • Romance- Nice as a side plot, but should always be combined with a different genre and a main plot.
  • Sci-Fi- Hit or miss, it takes a good plot to get me into sci-fi.
  • Modern- Rare for me to write modern stories, and even then it's only as modern fantasy.
  • Slice-of-Life- No. Never. I don't write slice of life stories. I already have an ordinary life, so why would I want to write about someone else's? Answer- I don't.

Fandoms:
Please understand one thing about fandoms- I will not write canon characters in purely canon plots. I always prefer to use OCs, and usually prefer my partner to use OCs as well. However, I will write as and/or against some cannon characters in a doubling scenario. I'll list characters that I am willing to write as and who I'd be interested in you writing as. I might be willing to entertain other suggestions as well, if you ask, but I'm not guaranteed to agree.

  • Game of Thrones/A Song of Ice and Fire: I'm familiar with both the show and the books. I've seen and read all of it, including the histories. I'd love to do something simply inspired by the show, as well as something in a different era (Aegon's Conquest? The Dance of the Dragons? Robert's Rebellion? Endless possibilities.)
    • I will write as: Daenerys Targaryen, Arya Stark, Jon Snow, various characters from the histories. Be advised they'd be slightly OC-ish versions, and it will take a very convincing plot to get me to write as any canon character.
    • I'd like you to write as: Jon Snow, Robb Stark, younger Ned Stark. I strongly prefer OCs.
  • Downton Abbey: Recently watched the show and loved it. I'm only really interested in writing something inspired by it but not with actual canon characters.
    • I will write as: OCs only.
    • I'd like you to write as: OCs only.
  • The Borgias: Tricky one to find, I'm sure. I'd like to something inspired by it more than canon.
    • I will write as: Cesare Borgia, Lucrezia Borgia. Juan Borgia as a villain, not protagonist. OCs strongly preferred.
    • I'd like you to write as: Cesare Borgia. OCs strongly preferred.
  • Ranger's Apprentice (Including The Early Years and The Royal Ranger): Another tricky one. And yes, characters would be aged up in case of mature content. I'd prefer one inspired by the series, rather than canon. If you want to write this I will love you forever.
    • I will write as: Halt (especially younger Halt), Princess Madelyn. OCs strongly preferred.
    • I'd like you to write as: Halt (especially younger Halt)
  • The Brotherband Chronicles: Again, hard to find but I'd love you forever if you want to write this one. And again, I'd prefer a story inspired by the series, not anything canon.
    • I will write as: Hal, Edvin, Lydia. OCs strongly preferred.
    • I'd like you to write as: Hal, Edvin.
  • Fairy Tail:
    • I will write as: Erza. Maybe Lucy or Mirajane if you're really convincing.
    • I'd like you to write as: Gray. Maybe Laxus, if a slightly OC version.
  • Noragami:
    • I will write as: Bishamon, Yato
    • I'd like you to write as: Yato
  • Akatsuki no Yona:
    • I will write as: Yona, Shin-Ah, Jae-Ha
    • I'd like you to write as: Shin-Ah, Jae-Ha
  • Dan Machi/Is it Wrong to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon: Inspired by only- Nothing canon
    • I will write as: OCs only
    • I'd like you to write as: OCs only

Plot Ideas:
Most of these plots I can and will explain in more detail upon request. I'm keeping the descriptions here short so that you can actually read through them without getting bored. Plus that way I don't have to type up a detailed description for an idea that no one ends up inquiring about, which is always nice.

1. Something inspired by the Borgias. I know I listed the show earlier, but I'm not necessarily referring to that here. I mean the family in general. The political intrigue, scandal, etc. It can be really fun. Keep some real people and real historical events, but toss some made-up ones in to suit us, and see where the story goes, rather than staying completely true to history. Some knowledge of Renaissance Italy will be helpful, or at least a willingness to google it. The general political structure, the level of technology available, etc. You don't have to be a historical expert- I'm not.

2. Character A is a closet necromancer. Necromancy is outlawed, so they openly practice a different magic instead and try to suppress the necromantic magic they're so skilled at. Character B is an adventurer who works with Character A. They become friends, although Character A never shares their secret. Then Character B dies during one of their missions, and Character A panics and accidentally reanimates Character B with their magic! Now the two have a shared secret that they have to hide, because they'll both be killed if it's found out! (Obviously Character B will still be sentient and retain personality and whatnot. The exact type of undead can be discussed- vampire, zombie, etc., but should be able to be hidden. Will have elements of cliche adventuring, with a bit of a twist. I'm willing to write as either character. And please note that while those are the two main main characters, introducing other main characters into the mix is encouraged.)

3. This is a bit of a random, crackpot idea that is hard to fully explain at all, so I'm just going to provide the basic gist and if you're interested I'll dump a lot more detail on you. Basically a fantasy story where there are both alchemists (exclusively male because they don't allow women to learn, more of a "scientific" group) and witches (almost exclusively female because very few males have magical talent, and those that do rarely discover it because they aren't really tested for it, more of a "magic" group, obviously.) Both groups are competing to find a way to raise the dead, especially now that the king's beloved heir (and only child) has died, and he has offered a massive reward for anyone who can restore him/her to life. Obviously there are various golems/constructs (having intelligence but not being previously living things, created by alchemists) and undead (formerly living but not retaining any intellect or real consciousness, created by witches), but no true resurrections. MC is a mostly unknown witch, until word gets out that she's made a breakthrough that seems like a major step toward the ultimate goal. YC is an alchemist who decides to (or is sent to) investigate MC and see if he can discover how she's accomplished this major step. Shockingly, he learns that she has somehow learned some of the secrets of alchemy and is combining that with magic to make progress. Even more shockingly, he learns that he actually has magic himself! And so the two decide to work together, combining both alchemical knowledge and magical talents in an effort to learn the secret of true resurrection. (Should be mentioned that other major characters will appear in the story as well. And again, I can share a lot more detail to anyone who is interested.)

Ahem. I think that about covers it for now. So if I haven't managed to scare you off yet, please send me a pm (I'd like to keep this thread clean so I won't be responding to any posts here!) and I'd love to talk about starting a story with you!
Hello everyone! My name is Arcelia. Well, that's not my real name, of course, but it's the one I'm going to go by in this little corner of the internet. Of course, if that's too long for you, you're welcome to come up with whatever nicknames you want. Honestly, so long as it isn't insulting, I don't care- Ari, Lia, "hey you weird chick." Honestly doesn't bother me. Anyway, I'm new to this site (obviously, or I wouldn't be here introducing myself) but I'm not new to roleplaying. I've been on multiple sites over the years, left all for various reasons. I've been on a long break from writing due to reasons beyond my control, and I'm looking to slowly get back into things. So, I suppose I should tell you a bit about myself, huh? I'm 23, been roleplaying for over 12 years now (again, not new!) I'm from Texas (hence why I say y'all.) I also read a lot (hardly surprising), bake (in fact, that's my job- I'm a baker), and practice archery as a hobby, although I don't get to go shooting nearly as frequently as I'd like (thanks Covid...) As far as what I write, well, I'm mostly into historical-ish and fantasy based stories. I can't think of anything else particularly interesting to tell y'all, so I won't bore you any further. So yeah, I look forward to meeting all of y'all.
