Roless laughed at Donny’s pun, not because of whether or not it was actually funny, but because it gave him a reason to make lots of noise and piss off all the townspeople trying to be grungy and edgy and sad. He almost didn’t catch the pun, until Maribel reacted so melodramatically about it. For something that was supposed to be a little girl, she really sucked at acting the part. As something on the roof made noise, the brown-haired hunter brought out his Hammer, the heavy weight of the flintlock pistol a welcome sensation. Whatever was up there, it was at least going to be obvious about its approach.

Well, that wouldn’t really discount the possibility of the punny youth from getting snatched up by the monster’s appendages the moment he passed the doorway, but life was hard like that.

Sinthe and Macey just got pulled out of our regular Human world, see a hideous giant spider-snake monster, one thinks it's silly and the other thinks it looks cool. What part of the world do they come from where this isn't terrifying?

To be fair, they also don't have any memories of the past world, so they could totally just be like 'well, this is normal, I guess?' and move on with their lives.
