ah, to add my 5 cents to the gufire talk. Dire confrontation calls for dire measures, so it stands that a intermediate-high gunslinger will be as good at shooting down moving targets as an agile dodger would be at evading gunfire. Like, Grammathon cleric skilled and higher, because nobody said you could only matrix yer dodging. Also, the equipment play a great role here: dual wielding allows for crossfire, full-auto shotguns are damn hard to avoid being hit by, and explosives are yet another feasible counter-measure. Tricksters may try using armor with hidden guns inside to take thier opponent by suprise, especialy if it's some really bulky suit, or deploy turrets as low-tier minions to be both a pain in the arse and a good distraction that allows for scoring the killing shot. ...yeah, you probably already knew that all, but maybe not. XD

Technically, duel-wielding is a Hollywood gimmick that really only exists for Rule-of-Cool and nothing else. In reality, it's highly ineffective to duel wield most weapons, even swords, for the simple fact that using your other hand and arm to handle your weapon allows you to swing harder and faster, block with a shield, fire more accurate shots, reload easier (and faster), handle the recoil of your G3A3's rather savage kick when on full automatic, and throw grenades.

In general, holding and/or manipulating your weapon with both hands affords more control.

Gado, WTF I said spaceships are backdrops, what part of that don't you understand? The gawddamn spaceships in the Angar-Ryllan thread are backdrops to the characters and nothing more than that.***Seriously I can see why a multiverse never gets traction here, everyone wants to do their own thing and not abide by the parameters for the purpose of the mutiverse which is strictly character vs character combat across a variety of settings and with diverse character concepts. Not space ships, not minions but the characters themselves. Everything else is just flavor for the fights.

Hm.

I thought in the OP it mentioned that players were able to summon minions and whatnot, as well as a 'general' or something.

Though, I believe it mentioned that these could only be engaged in certain IC circumstances.

So, how many people have got a post in the works right now?

Me. I'm juggling this and creating character sheets and nation sheets for other roleplays I'm in or that I'm planning to join.

Well, that and I keep revising parts of the post.

Hmmm. I dunno your ideas arent bad but by your own admission the arena is not your forte so finding the sweet spot to balance character and power is still fuzzy. Instead of arguing with me work with me and we can bring your character into the arena.

I guess.

I mostly base the power of my abilities off of existing powers seen in the characters already submitted to the MV, using them as a sort of template in which to gauge what I could and couldn't do with a power. Typically when it comes to power-scaling, I go for something in the middle, while my powers and abilities gravitate toward the mundane in overall functionality. Personally, I don't see the point in overly-flashy capabilities, since I put more faith into method and technique rather than equipment, if you know what I mean.

I normally run fighting techniques that favor either defensive-based characters or defensive/offensive characters, with a heavy focus on ranged power. I typically don't touch melee weapons with a ten-foot pole because I do best with firearms, tanks, anti-tank guns, x-ray lasers, and all of that jazz.

With regards to the wormhole bit, I flipped a desk over that because I couldn't wrap my head over what terrible and awful things people were actually expecting me to do with it. I was under the impression people were scared I was going to turn the entire MV inside out or something.

I have little problem with a nerf; most nerfs I get slapped with I fully agree on, since when I re-examine the idea, it does come off as wanky, broken or flat-out overpowered.

If you can't come up with something original, use a Super-Trope.Something SO tropey that it's entertaining.I mean, there are of course some tropes that are entertaining on their own. Like the Peasant Railgun.Or the Arrowhead of Total Destruction.

So, I looked up the Peasant Railgun.

I admit, I laughed.

You know, I wonder if thousands of peasants, all tier 0 characters, could effectively pull this off with a pencil.

That moment where 1,000s of people accelerating a writing tool to .5 % of c allows them to 1-shot a high-tier character.

Kindness for kindness! So your people can theoretically remain outside of their land for so long as they have Harkti leaves to filter oxygen? I'm assuming any oxygen-breathing species would find it tough to live in your land because of that; any diplomatic meetings would probably need to be done just outside your land where Harkti bushes aren't in large concentration.

Literally, the Forest of Death.

I'm interested, but please don't tell me that you don't intend to come from the land of cuddle bears and rainbows xPI guess you can have a feel for the current state of my nation by reading the NS as it is. Didn't make history yet since I wanted to collab with my neighbors.Think of my people as those capable of the ultimate good as they are of the ultimate evil, I'd say a few centuries ago they entered a mean phase after some kind of disaster, defeat or civil war (Like I said earlier if you bothered to read the tiresome debate, a famine is extremely destabilizing for example. And like said earlier, I'm set on the idea of this empire going down in flames or at least suffering a revolution of some kind to be reborn as... something else.Interested for anything further? What's your stance?

Might take me a while to explain my proposal; I want to sit on it for a night so I can throw out a clear-cut answer, as well. Check back here tomorrow, for at the moment it's 11:00 PM at night and I require food and rest.

Looking forward to working with you, though. : )

You're kidding right?

Uh.

No?

That's literally the last idea I've got left. My idea tank for this MV, so to speak, is pretty much on E.

Well actually that's a lie. It's more like I'm sticking to low tier or whatever, because all of my high-tier and mid-tier ideas either get nuked, they don't fit the setting or they flat-out blow ass.

So if he controls the ATM can he get money out of it or be able to telekinetically cause it to go flying around to bash into people? Believe it or not, more people die to vending machines crushing them then sharks, so a falling ATM could be more deadly then a shark character. ;)

Well, that's an interesting idea. Maybe he could take control of inanimate machinery (you know, none-robots or AI constructs), like electronic cash registers and ATMs.

Unsure what use this power would have, but who cares.

Apathy.

I still have to post the updated approved characters and several posts.Remember you can submit non-combat characters if you want so a guy running a store who controls atms is fine.

Really?

Well that changes everything!

Lol, please don't tell me this thread is going to go tits-up like the last one.
So, I was thinking about possible collabs between my nations and the nations of other players. Preferably, I'd like to mess around with a nation that's relatively close to mine. : )

I'm sort of gunning for something historical in nature. My NS isn't up yet, but I do aim to control the straight that is directly northeast of me, if that spurs any ideas. Possible trade alliances would also work. I know what nation I aim to play, so if you want to ask questions about what my people are like, go for it.

Would anyone mind if I was to join in, or would you rather I played the part of the impartial GM?

Uh, it's your thread, dude.
