Owen looked at the book and shrugged as he turned to go talk to the new customer. He didn't recognize her but still plastered his usual smile on his face. "Hello! Welcome to the Twisted Tome. Can I help you with anything? "He asked as he glanced at the book he had been given.
Owen just gave her a look that was both parts confusion and belief at the same time. "Maybe it is. I mean my tattoo is "magic". "He said doing fingerquotes as he pulled up hos sleeve to reach the tattoo. Anyone with magical knowledge would recognize that it was a rather strong power bonding circle. It appeared to worn out. "Had that since I was five. It got really light after my parents died. "
"I mean I remember seeing you in the shop after they died but that's it. Did you know them? Everyone I ask about my parents just look away when I ask about them. I keep trying to ask around. Maybe someone could explain why the books no longer seem so old. It's like I see those old books in a different light.." He said seeming a little confused. There's something he's trying to understand but just couldn't reach.
History: Nathan Tiberius Harrison-Marshall was born on Tyche in the city of Agathos to Martha Harrison and Edgar Marshall. His parents were both powerful traders who decided to get married and become even more powerful. Together they created the Harrison-Marshall Mercantile Company. For the last 250 years the Company has been one of the premiere trade corps in the Concord. However, Nate was not the first born son. He was the fifth and last child but he was never babied. From the time he turned ten, he was tested with everything he did. He was the son of a rich family and his father judged him on everything. When Nate turned 20, his father decided he wanted to retire from running the company and let his children run the show. However, he made it another one of his tests. The children had to prove to their father why they were worthy to inherit the power. That is why Nate is trying to build his own trade network to rival his siblings. Currently he just has his one ship.
Personality: Nate is truly a son of the Tyche Concord. Trade is in his blood and he is damn good at. Nate has the Midas touch when it comes to trade but he is not brutal in his desire for it. Nate is not a criminal and thus does run in illegal goods. There is no reason for being labeled a criminal or losing contracts over illegal goods when he can be just do it the real way. His family is an old Tyche Concord family even though Nate is quite young. He has something to prove and it shows in his actions. He wants to be seen as a real trader in the eyes of his family. Nate does not care for criminals or bullies.
Allegiance: Tyche Concord (Loyal Member)
Personal Effects: Nate does not keep many personal effects. He likes to keep things small so he can be able to move quickly. His most prized possession is his family ring. It is a sign for what he wants in life.
Kepler Class Orbital Suit- Nate uses the suit if he needs to work on his ship. Other: Nate is oddly protective of his ship the Nebuchadnezzar. Nate keeps his drones in working order since they are the closest thing to family he has right now. He is working on making an AI for them.
Ship Designation: Cargo Ship Nebuchadnezzar Ship Class: Interstellar Cargo Ship Ship Size: 550 meters long Ship Crew: To fly the ship needs One person and some drones. It can hold up to ten people comfortable. There is more if the cargo holds are empty. The central bridge area is designed to be comfortable for long trips to the Outer Rim.
Ship Weapons: None but there is a chance of adding weapons should the need be.
Ship technologies:
Standard XC-Drive
Cargo Hold: It can fit up to 1,000 tons of cargo.
Drones: Nate keeps a bevy of drones to keep the ship running. He is currently working on making an AI for the ship but that is harder than it seems.
Drones: Oscar Oscar is designed to repair the hull of the ship because he is much to big to fit inside. Nate uses Oscar whenever he needs to preform large scale repairs. He has to come to a full stop or else Oscar can go flying from the ship. That has happened before.
Boris and Erica- The internal repair drones since Oscar is much to big. They cannot repair as much as Oscar can but they are faster and can fit in tiny little areas of the ship.
Ship Appearance:
Other: The Nebuchadnezzar is designed for deep space travel or exploration if the ship can be refitted with supplies. Nate is using it to trade with the far colonies in an attempt to make new trade routes. Nate got the ship through a poker game and blind luck.
More to come later. I kept it vague to fit in the theme.
Owen gave Rachel a shrug. "I have no idea honestly. She never really was that open about her beliefs and all that. Kept my brother and me out of the loop for her life. I wish she would have told me about her life. Now that she is dead..." Owen said looking downtrodden for a second. "Have we met? I feel like you are familiar?"
"My mother gave me a love of this bookstore. "Owen said looking st the books like their were all priceless treasures. "I feel like I never knew the real her. She was always hiding something from me. Like there's something there that I couldn't know..." He said with a bittersweet tone. "This place was her legacy and I have to keep it going. "
Owen felt that there was something different about this girl. Again it felt like she knew something that he didn't know. The magic section was his mother's favorite area but Owen rarely went into the section but this woman for seemed to like it. Owen kept that same smile. "Oh. The books were my mother's. She always said that they were important for some reason. She never told me why... So what brings you to my shop?"
Active power: Telekinesis Passive power: Spell Casting Family: Only living relative is his little brother Alex. Owen is very protective of his 15 year old brother and he quit law school to come back home to take care of him. The two get along even though Owen is still trying to be more of a parent and less of a brother after their parents died.
His mother Jennifer Hutchins was always a mystery to Owen. She would vanish for days on end and return with some old looking book. Owen never quite understood what was with his mother. She gave Owen his love of books and reading. She also used to teach him strange lessons such how to talk to fairies or something equally as bizarre.
Patrick Hutchins: His dead father taught Owen how to fight and protect himself. It always seemed like there was something off with him like his wife. Owen always got along better with his father.
Personality:
It's easy to get to know an open person like Owen Hutchins, but if there's anything you should know it's that he's responsible and even tempered. Owen is always cheerful and the very definition of the dutiful son and brother. When his parents mysteriously died, he dropped everything to come home for his brother. Owen has a bit of a hot head and uses his fists much more than his words. Of course he's also confident, flexible and helpful, but those are often overshadowed by tendencies to jump to conclusions.
His tolerance though, this is what he's often adored for. People often count on this and his efficiency whenever they need help.

Occupation: He is the owner of the Twisted Tome Bookstore. He is both the owner and only employee. The store has a steady clientele from when his mother and father ran the store. Owen was going to law school but dropped it to help his family or what remained of it.
Short history:
Owen Hutchins was born to two seemingly normal family. His parents decided that they had to settle down when he was born and thus they opened the Twisted Tome Bookstore for some semblance of normalcy. The two of them raised Owen as a rather normal kid but then Owen turned five years old and something happened. Owen cannot remember what happened but he remembered the smells of fire and sulfur stinging his nose. There was something that happened. He cannot remember it but he did remember the tattoo that suddenly appeared on his skin after that. His mother and father never spoke about what happened that night but Owen tried to translate the tattoo when he got older. It was something to do with Alchemy or maybe something occult. That was the only true strange thing in his young life. His little brother, Alex, was born when Owen was five and they became inseparable. Owen spent his younger years learning from home. His mother decided that he needed to be home schooled for reasons she never quite explained to her son. Family friends would tutor Owen in different topics and all of their lessons had a strange bent to them. Owen never could place it but they all seemed a little odd. One time, he thought he saw his math tutor turn invisible but his parents told him it was nothing.
As he got older, things started to get strange around Owen. He suddenly decided that he needed to go to a regular public high school. His mother was against it but his father allowed him to go. He excelled in his classes but strange things would happen when he was bothered. One time, a glass beaker flew off the table by itself and nearly hit the captain of the football team in the head. Things like this kept happening over the years but Owen ignored them as just random things that just happened. Eventually, Owen got accepted to a local university to follow his dream of being a lawyer.
He spent three years at the university before he got a call that nearly ruined him. Both of his parents had been murdered by someone or something near the bookstore. Owen was devastated but he dropped out of university and went back home to help his brother by running the bookstore. His tattoo's ink seemed to get lighter after his mother died but Owen never noticed. Things are getting very strange around him but he doesn't know what to do.
Anything else I should have asked:
Sexuality: Homosexual but he is not in the open about it.
Owen has always been interested in that tattoo. It occasionally feels like it is burning.
((Kept it vague to add more later. I left out the magic bit cause I wanted Owen to be an utter beginner at Magic.))
The young man at the front desk didn't know what he was looking at. It was one of his ktjers old books and there seemed to be something different about the book. It felt... Old and yet new at the same time. It was as if he had known this book all his life and yet he had never seen it once. Still it was clearly important since he had found it in his old collection.
Owen looked up at the woman in his store. She was always here and he had no idea who she was. Owen set his book down and walked over towards the "magic" section. He figured it was all just made up since Magic wasn't real. "Pardon me,miss. I always see you here and yet I have no idea who you are. I'm Owen. "He said with a soft smile on his face.
