Vincent Brookes awoke from his short nap in the wreckage of the Scope Arena. He quickly got on his feet as his eyes darted throughout what used to be the concession's stand. When he realized there was no threat, he lessened his grip on his trusty shovel and made his way outside, weaving his way through the rubble that made a location so familiar to him seem so foreign, like he was on another world. When he stepped outside, his eyes didn't need to adjust to the light, or, in this case, lack thereof. it was dark and cloudy outside, despite being noon. He looked to the road that led to his favorite childhood hangout, the mall, and decided to see if any of the rumors of a possible settlement there were true. He started his short hike towards the mall, keeping his eyes open for any looters that saw him as an easy target. They'd be disappointed.
As always, rain was falling down onto the city of Norfolk Virginia, gray clouds remaining in the air eternally. If one were to guess, however, it was around noon, and it was the brightest it could get for the day, and was almost as dark as twilight. Every day was like this, but people found a way to manage to survive. They all scavenge what they can while avoiding the more desperate folk who are armed with any sort of bludgeon they can get their hands on. This particular day, though, has the possibility of being different with the rest. Scavenger activity has been on the rise in the Norfolk area, as with looter activity. Many of the more friendly people are eying MacArthur Mall as a possible settlement where people can find food and shelter. You are one of the people who have decided to make their way to the mall, but your reasons are your own. It is time for the survivors of the apocalypse to crawl out of their holes and seek the possibility of a better life.
it'll be raining. If I don't describe the weather, expect it to be at least a drizzle.

by the way, I guess we'll start tomorrow or something.
remember to ask questions about the world or roleplay if you have them. Don't be shy!

Also, bump.
Here is how characters will be formatted. Post down below. Accepted characters will be edited into this post.:

Name: First and last name and/or their nickname.

Age: exactly what is says. Don't make your character's age above 60 or below 16.

Gender: male, female, or ambiguous

Appearance: skin color, eye color, hair color, height, physique beard, tattoos, scars, makeup (though I doubt makeup is abundant here), etc.

Clothing: what are they wearing? Nothing out of place like body armor. Your character is most likely a civilian who is barely surviving on a day to day basis.

Weapon of choice: A melee weapon. Can't be as far-fetched as a sword or medieval weapon. Think of something easy to find, A crowbar, for example.

This is where we'll discuss the roleplay and such. If you have questions about the lore, the roleplay, and rules, post them here.

Quite a few people have shown interest. I'll get to writing the roleplay soon. I'll message whoever has commented on the forum with updates whenever they come
The idea reminds me of Division because of the abandoned cityscape vibe. With a ton of looters and such.

And I did say "kind of"
Edit bump
After playing the Division and seeing a good idea with poor execution, I decided to make a roleplay inspired by that kind of apocalypse.

In the year 2033, the earth's natural resources ran low. Forests that were once protected by laws were torn down. Wars were fought in the east over fossil fuels. Unions between countries were torn apart because of trivial scraps and squabbles. America secluded itself from the rest of the world, taking Canada with it by annexing it. Countries that were both allies and enemies to America tried time and time again to take the fuel found up north, but to no avail. The US tried the same with their southern neighbors, but with little success. More resources were burned in the constant wars than ever before. The world was dying, and nobody cared. That was when the world fought back.

Mother Nature herself waged her own war against mankind with the elements as her weapon. Landmarks flooded, tornadoes blew away our cities, and earthquakes swallowed civilizations whole. America was not spared from this torment. The west to mid west was engulfed in all consuming fire, and the east was laid to waste by hurricanes and never-ending storms while the north was buried under meters of snow.

The year is now 2040. Bustling metropolises are now silent, slowing being taken over by Mother Nature. Skyscrapers are now heaps of rubble. Giant cargo ships can be found miles from the closest body of water, and one can go a dozen miles before seeing another human being. With each end of the mankind, though, come the stragglers. People trying to survive day-to-day life are plagued by not just the elements, but also by disease, starvation, and even other people, taking advantage of a world torn apart. But even in the face of extinction, there is still a dim light of hope. Small groups of people still fight back. They push against the gangs that terrorize them. They endure through the forces of Mother Nature. They survive, and though they are scattered, they will one day unite, and they will one day take back their cities, their homes, their world.

The roleplay will most likely take place in the east, Virginia. It will be a sandbox roleplay where the people involved are survivors trying to get by while fighting other survivors and Nature. message below if you're interested or have questions.
