Wouldn't Ash recognize Mewtwo? As after the Mewtwo Returns special, and the Mewtwo and Genesect movie, he still remembers the Mewtwos.

Chuck took the ball and headed back to the presentation.
Chuck listened on, realizing he hadn't brought any Pokémon with him, not expecting to give a demonstration. He excused himself quietly and went to find a phone, calling home and having them send over Nissa, his Clefairy.
"Well, let's hope they make it in time." Chuck said. "It's not everyday you get the Champions of the world to speak for your class."
"Alright, and if that fails, I can always give some tips on how to care for Pokémon, things I learned at my parent's Daycare." Chuck said, getting into the vehicle.
"Well, I don't know how much help I'll be with the lectures, as I haven't travelled as much as these guys." Chuck said. "Heck, I cut my initial journey short to help take care of my parent's daycare back in Kalos. I'm Chuck North, by the way." Chuck decided to take a cookie shaped after the Voltage Badge, as it reminded him of his hometown of Lumiose City.
I think it's about time to move on to the next one.
Yeah, we'll be govong a lecture, then find out about the Island Challengr.
Yeah, sadly people stopped posting and we were waiting for people to reply.
"Alright, I'll teleport home, leave my Pokémon with my parents, and meet you guys back here in time to leave." Chuck said, sending out Azriel. "See you guys then!" With that, the Alakazam teleported him home.
