"Hell? Far from it! Don't worry, you're still alive. You're actually in Vivi-Dream, a dream world that connects several people in the world to this one location. Some of us are just asleep, others are unconscious, and even some are in a coma, but how you get here is irrelevant," Lin explained. "We appear in this world as characters called Oneiros, and our appearances are based upon our life experiences, interests and personalities. Then we're tasked with investigating 'zones' outside of this main city Remniche; the harmless ones are permanent, but some of them are festering with negative emotions that some dreamers haven't resolved in their lives. If that negativity isn't resolved and it spreads too wide, all of Vivi-Dream - and thus everyone residing inside it - will be affected. You'll wake up to find yourself experiencing somebody else's fears and memories, and maybe they'll experience yours as well. Imagine what would happen if hundreds of people were afflicted at once!

"So that's where we come in. We go to these zones and find the cause of the negative energy by finding an 'artifact' connected to those feelings and purifying it. Voila! The dreamer will wake up feeling refreshed, and the negative zone disappears. Problem solved," Lin nodded proudly. "My museum here houses a bunch of artifacts that my partner and I found during our adventures. Speaking of which, my name's Lin, and this lil' shrimp is Hez."

Lin patted Hez's head, but the short-statured girl pulled her hood up bashfully. "She's not able to talk, so don't be upset if she doesn't answer any questions. She'll tell me what she wants to say, and then I'll translate it for her. It's sort of a mental connection we have, but I don't know why that is.

"Oh well, don't let it bother you. Let's just focus on dealing with this really weird dungeon. For some reason, three 'zones' are fusing into one, and that's never ever happened before. You might be new, but don't think this type of accident is par for the course. Usually we just deal with one zone at a time, so dealing with three may require a big group like this to work together. Well, you'll see what I mean shortly."

Lin finished her incessant chattering, always eager to provide so much information to newcomers that it would make them dizzy. She glanced around at the others, waiting to hear their introductions.
Hez didn't really care about Harahel's little 'research project', nor about much else going on - she was often detached from what was happening around her, preferring to just blend in the background and let her partner do the socializing. Lin had no idea what to be more baffled by; the floating piano, or the guy studying it with exuberant intent.

"I'm not gonna bother..." she sighed in exasperation.

Alice: "Hopefully I'm not alone in this?"

"Certainly doesn't look like it," Lin nodded. "Well, time's a'wasting! I know I'm being rude about not asking your names or anything, but that anomaly isn't gonna fix itself! We can handle the introductions on the way there!"

Lin grabbed Hez's hand and guided the group out of the museum, pulling up a scribbled map of Remniche to find the closest route to the freak triple-fusion dungeon. They encountered Dice loitering around the facility's main steps.

Dice: "awww. I was kinda hoping something unusual was going on."

"Not just something unusual, but an uber-mega catastrophe if we don't get moving!" Lin exclaimed. "I'm assuming you're here for the same reason these folks are. I don't have time to explain right now, but I'll tell you everything while we're on the move. That if, if you're planning on joining us. We could use all the help we could get for this trip."
So would it be okay with you if I used Fictionpress to post the chapters?
It used to be Fanfiction.net, right? I made a FF account ages ago and never used it again, but it got transferred to Fictionpress. I've relogged in, so let me fiddle around with it later.

~shuffles in to corner and mumbles something about getting banned from said sight~

I won't butt into your business there, but are you not able to read any stories there, or is it restricted to just not being able to upload?
The problem is I don't have it on this computer but on my parents' laptop, and I'd like to keep that reserved for family. I'll figure out some other way to upload it. It's a good alternative, but I can't really use it. Sorry about that.
Calibri size 11. I could do size 10 but it might hurt my eyes. I'm also not familiar with Skype. I was thinking of just uploading it on my Angelfire and posting the direct link, unless there's a better place to upload it.
Absolutely. I'll divide it into manageable chapters and upload them somewhere. I'm hoping to keep each chapter about 10-15 MS Word pages, and we're at 7 for the moment.
One, to preserve the posts in case this site crashed again.

Two, to give me a reason to monitor everyone's posts. Otherwise I fall into the trap of just paying attention to my own posts.

Three, because I've done it before with past RPs for later reading. It's become a habit of mine to compile any RPs I start, even though it isn't really necessary. You could interpret this as my own amusement or not, but at least the first two reasons are practical.
Lin nearly jumped out of her skin from the sudden noise, yelping, “Ugiiiiiiii!!” before swatting at whatever the hell was making the racket.

Hez failed to notice Harahel as she hurried back to Lin after hearing her scream, finding her batting at the air and looking as white as Hez’s mantle.

“Geez! What was that all about!?” Lin cursed.

She spotted her partner coming back, but that was when they found Realm wandering around the museum’s halls. Lin barked, “Oy! Didn’t I tell you to put the closed sign up!?”

Hez blinked in confusion and pointed back at the entrance. They saw the sign toppled over and a few people gathered inside, presumably to check out what the commotion was with the chalkboard’s alarm.

“Oh, come on…” Lin sighed, looking absolutely frazzled. “I seriously need to add a mute button to that stupid alarm… And it looks like you need to start from scratch about how to run this place, missy! What kind of idiot puts a sign up sideways!?”

Hez waved her hands in defense, but Lin wasn’t having any of it. That was when Lin paused upon glancing at the chalkboard, recalling that three negative zones were fusing into one. If her logic was right and they would have to deal with three dungeons worth of monsters, riddles, and obstacles all at once, perhaps it would be prudent of her to ask these people to form a party.

“Hi, folks! Sorry for all of the noise, but everything’s okay!” she called out to the visitors and waved. “I know this might seem a little sudden, but we’ve got a huge emergency and need to move immediately! Three dungeons are fusing into one and I don’t think the two of us will be enough! If you’d be kind enough to lend us a helping hand, I promise that Hez and I will give you a detailed tour of this museum and of Remniche if any of you are new here!”
Yikes... I wasn't expecting such a debate when I woke up this morning... @.@

I honestly didn't know what to say when you asked if first person was okay. I had already alienated Beloved by asking to write in past tense, and I didn't want to do the same to you by asking to write in third person. We have to remember that this is the Casual forum, not the Advanced. If I were to lay down such a stringent rule as, "Please write in past tense and third person to accommodate the compilation," I'd might as well move this RP to Advanced and risk losing more writers in the process because they'll be thinking, "Does Benit know what she wants out of this RP?" I do, but I'm failing to word it correctly, which I'm afraid might be causing problems for you guys.

I honestly don't see what the big deal is when it comes to character perspective; I don't think we need to be so philosophical over a casual RP. If an RPer can bring their best writing in a preferred point of view, isn't it all the better for us? Of course, Zaresto needs to mention who he's playing as and write in a manner so we're not confused. However, I did mention in the intro post that character interaction is strongly desired, so if Zaresto can bring that interaction the best in first person, then I don't have an issue with it.

I'll have to adjust it to third person for the compilation however. Once I wing out a PDF of the first chapter, you'll see that I'll preserve everything else except for the first person view, so there isn't any need to worry. Changing perspective might be as hassling as changing verb tense in the long run, but I don't want to alienate anyone else for my own convenience.
