Dinh AaronMk said My main qualm with the app is how it takes a presumptuously strong voice of itself. It doesn't really stop to go, "Yes, this is actually a joke and here is how it works a year post-war".

If you want, I can rewrite some time tomorrow to better illustrate the application, though it really depends on whether you're willing to accept a nation that is moderately tongue-in-cheek.

Keyguyperson said There was never any nuclear exchange because a nuclear exchange with all of today's arsenal would physically destroy the planet.

Benji said ...years of testing and disposal...

Keyguyperson said And then the attack would be delayed because everyone would be laughing at how stupid the Welsh are.

Benji said The implication is that the system is pathetically unstable and out of touch - when you have to fight a war with a region where the population density is a joke and suffer horrific losses, and when your leader has no political experience, you're going to get cut down the moment they pick a fight with anyone who knows how to operate any sort of war tech.

Dinh Aaronmk said Are you implying a feudal system is an expertly crafted system of stability? Cause, it's not. It relies on the opinion of your underlings with little to no administrative oversight to check and balance the dukes and counts to reel them in if they get uppity. And medieval arms are impractical in this world. Not saying you can't use them, but when the armies of sheep-husbands move on the British I imagine they'll be gunned down, or will be gunned down by any ally of the British power. One helicopter could lay their armies to waste.

I am not. The implication is that the system is pathetically unstable and out of touch - when you have to fight a war with a region where the population density is a joke and suffer horrific losses, and when your leader has no political experience, you're going to get cut down the moment they pick a fight with anyone who knows how to operate any sort of war tech. I'm intending to roleplay as they slowly realize that, no, a feudal system led by an elderly country man whose main claim to power is 'got on his feet first' isn't going to do them any favors at all.

EDIT: Looking back, I should probably note that the application makes two assumptions:

1) The United Kingdom was a major combatant in the war.

2) Wales is seen as a joke by the rest of Britain - hence the readiness to dump huge amounts of nuclear waste in the middle of the country, and the fact that as soon as Wales is cut off from the world it immediately regresses a thousand years.
Name of Nation: New Cymru

Territories: Welsh coast regions of Snowdonia, Ceredigion, and Pembrokeshire.

Government Type: Feudal

Military: The Milwrol prides itself on its superb organisation, which partly goes towards making up for its lack of technology. Many sections use medieval weapons such as swords and bows, whilst many farmers and such have signed up for duty wielding guns and the occasional war-relic bombs.

Modern military technology has been recovered in abandoned bases, though there is still the problem that nobody has stepped forward with knowledge of how to use it.

New Cymru is currently in the process of setting up science divisions to investigate the possibilities of weaponising the scores of nuclear waste that litter the wastelands, though this may take some time.

Economy: Food and supplies are submitted to the local leaders which are then distributed as required. Due to a lack of trading with the outside world the nation finds itself learning to become as self-sufficient as possible, though many areas struggle to adapt.

Foreign Policy: New Cymru boasts of rebuilding the wasteland loudly and proudly. They are determined to conquer England and Scotland, and thus will regard any Anglos with intense distrust, however they are willing to negotiate and ally with non-English speaking nations.

History: In the final year of the war the United Kingdom found itself with more nuclear material than it could safely dispose of – years of testing and disposal had left them over budget, over supplied, and with more mouths to feed than they could. It was with a heavy heart that the people of England moved their nuclear waste to the eastlands of Wales; thus disposing of the danger, the land, and the people of Wales who were so much of a burden.
The people of Wales were divided, and waged smaller wars over what little they had left. It was in Snowdonia that one elderly man rose from the anarchy – a war reenactor, well respected by his community, named John Pewitt. Calling his three-hundred strong company across the region, and armed only with what weapons they had from the old days – swords, shields, and the occasional gun – Pewitt founded a new nation under strong leadership and old ideals. By the time he had amassed the forces and praise to establish dominance over Snowdonia, the people of Ceredigion welcomed organisation with open arms.
Pewitt’s vision of a unified Wales came to Pembrokeshire in 2040 and offered its people a place in New Cymru with open arms. When Pembrokeshire refused to submit, having found a leader of its own, New Cymru waged its first real war and won, albeit with heavy losses.
As his nation recovers, New Cymru currently only sends small expeditionary forces to Anglesey to scout what is a region relatively untouched by the troubles of the mainland.

Foes: New Cymru seeks to conquer the regions of Anglesey and Carmarthenshire, before finding a route to England and destroying whatever remains there.
