For some it is the only thing that grounds them to living. Which may be a weak trait to rely on something or someone to live but why would you take that away from them? If that is what they need then whatever. Do I think a lot of the religious rules are BS? Sure, and do I think they should force their beliefs onto others and put people down for not believing or even scaring or terrorizing people for going against their faith? Hell no. but you putting someone down who has some sort of faith in some higher being down makes you no better. That is why they think you are evil. I believe in what I want to hell I'll believe in the Jedi code if I want to, But I wont put others down for their beliefs. I think it is great that you have such a great trust in science and know enough to make a well organized argument, but why take the energy to attack someone for no reason? did anyone call you a dirty atheist? I just don't understand where the whole "we dont believe in their personal sky daddy" came from. It isn't necessary to prove your point. You can make an argument and not be nasty about it.

I never said I would bash on Christians, and as long as my parents are there I will be going to church, but I don't have any proof of God, and I have my own opinion on the matter.

Saying "i don't like god" might have been the wrong thing to say. Atheists lack the belief in god so how can we hate something we don't believe in? Also it might have been better to ease them into the idea first...

I said it in a better way....and we were on the subject. I was just really uncomfortable, I have always been uncomfortable in those cases.

That is in fact a true statement. I mean, my parents don't even talk about religion when we are home but when I said "hey, I don't like god." They took me to church twice in one weekend and signed me up for camp behind my back. They also lectured me...
