Well, I think the strict reason for having a Keyblade is either being preselected or having some kind of "pure heart" that a Keyblade is attracted to.
But, if I remember, our initial aim was to have one magician, one knight, and one Keyblade warrior. Although, I don't see why Zac and Althea can't have Keyblades either. ^^

Damn. I forgot to activate the tracking device I planted in his brain.
Lucas watched Alice closely as she shut her eyes and activated her powers. If he didn’t know any better, he’d just think she was meditating or something. There were no glowing lights or any sign of her using her powers at all. After a few seconds, Lucas opened his mouth to ask her what she was seeing, but stopped, afraid disrupting her would be a bad idea.
That’s when he noticed she was trembling. Was that normal? A small whimper escaped her lips, and Lucas tensed up. Was she okay? What was she seeing? What should he do?
Finally, out of nowhere, she let out a choked cry and dropped the handcuffs like they were red hot. She looked terrified. She ran her hands through her hair and tears began to form in her eyes. She mentioned something about her dad and stood up quickly. Lucas stood up too, still confused as to what she had seen exactly.
“What about your dad?” Lucas asked. “What did you see…?”
”Lucas,” she choked out as she began to pace. ”he hurt people. N-not police stuff…oh shit…there was so, so much blood…”
“What?” Lucas asked, stepping forward. He couldn’t believe what he was hearing. What had she seen? Maybe… maybe it was just some kind of “bad cop”-style interrogation? Surely, that was it.
Lucas shook his head and stepped forward, placing his hand on Alice’s shoulder firmly.
“Alice, tell me, calmly, what you saw,” he told her, trying to instill some sanity in her.
