Maybe you should try to focus on the one story at a time instead of writing like six at once, you'd probably stand a better chance of finishing.
Hi guys the OOC is still a work in progress but I wanted to get something out so you all can start work on character sheets.http://www.roleplayerguild.com/topics/61370/posts/ooc?page=1
Live Together or Die Alone.

You’ve been running for hours and you’re starting to feel it. The stitch in your side has been a near constant companion but you know if you stop they’ll be on you in seconds. Even now, after so long and so far, they’re still snapping at your heels.

You had to leave all your gear at the camp, no time. Even if you do escape what’s the chances you’ll survive the night?

No shelter,

No food,

No weapons,

No torch,

No hope.

Of course the little voice is there telling you it’s all over. Your own personal cheerleader.

“You’re fucked, game over. Surviving two months was a good innings. Can’t say you didn’t have a good run.”

Ha Ha, very funny. You hate the voice but proving it wrong is what keeps one foot going in front of the other.

The stink of death is overpowering, getting nearer. You think you might throw up from it or maybe it’s the fatigue.

The overgrown wet grass whips against your legs and you tell yourself all you gotta do is make to the tree line, just the tree line and then you might have a shot.

You’ve been telling yourself that all day.

Just to the end of the street...

Just out of the city...

Just to the next house...

The next car...

The next rock...

The next body...

You just need to keep going, this can’t last forever.

Your lungs burn as you suck down another ragged breath and your dumb legs stumble on.

At least six behind you now.

They won’t get tired.

Question is...

How the hell are you getting out of this one?

Or does it all end here?

LTODA is a Short Story RP. What this basically means is each post functions as a Short Story inside of a wider narrative. The easiest way to think about is like a TV show. In each episode the characters confront an issue that is resolved one way or the other by the end, however there are often plot lines that span entire seasons. You remember that show the Xfiles? It’s kinda like that in that each week the main characters confront a “freak of the week” however there is a wider story arc at play, this RP will work in a similar way.

Another focus of the RP is on allowing you guys to develop the world. This means I will give you the initial conditions of the world and from there it’s kind of open season bar a few rules. Most NPCs can be killed or interacted with you can create your own NPCs that can develop into major characters etc.
This brings us neatly on to the final focus of the RP which is realism. If you’ve been accepted into this RP it wasn’t because your character was good it was because I feel you are a good writer. This means I don’t really care if your characters live or die just that you write good stories. With this in mind don’t feel you have keep a character alive, you could have a new character every week if you wanted to and were able to keep the posts interesting. Point is there will be times where it makes more sense to have a character bite it and if this is done well you will hailed as a God among Mortals and we’ll love you for it.

Anyway the Rest of the first Post is divvied up into section that will hopefully explain what going on.

Yeah the doubles were really popular for that reason we tried trios but it was difficult to coordinate in a week.

Ok so with three intrested people I feel good about starting an OOC. The RP is still open but like I said we'll only have three RPers at a time in the RP. I'll get to work and will have something together by Friday.
Great we have interest!

This is what I used in the old game to explain the whole thing to the RPers.

Step 1. The GM (that’s me Bosch) will post Missions in the IC section of the RP. These Missions will be clearly titled in the IC post.

Step 2. The RPers (that’s you) read the missions and choose one. They state which mission they would like to undertake in the OOC section of the RP. This is to prevent two people doing the same mission. The Missions are allocated on a first come first serve basis.

Step 3. After declaring your interest you can get writing. Remember from the day you say you want mission you have one week to complete your post.

Step 4. Once all the posts have been received the GM will create a post that deals with the epilogues of each mission and their impact on the setting. The GM will also post a new selection of jobs at which point we go back to step one.

Over time the missions grew more complex and we had doubles missions where two RPers work on one post. Some people enjoyed that while others preferred to just do solo jobs.

The previous RP was a zombie apocalypse but I reckon this time I might change that and have a different kind of threat. It'll probably be similar but something a little more original.

This kind of thing works best with small numbers so I'm thinking three RPers tops but I'll allow multiple characters. Writing ability is important so if we have lots of interest I'll decide who gets in based on how good the character sheets are.
I GM a lot which means I often play the antagonist so I guess I exhibit a lot of, what I believe to be, negative traits in my characters. By this I mean I will have them express beliefs and take actions that I think are bad or worng because it gives the RPers something to defeat that I want to see defeated. That’s just for storytelling reasons though as having a villain that isn’t villainous is kind silly really. I don't really think anyone reads that deeply into RPs and I find the thought that someone could form opinions of society based on RPs terrifying.
Years ago I remember this website had something pretty much as you describe. I guess the best way to describe it was like the arena but with talking. They were never really my thing due to the innate lack of direction but it always seemed like a popular place for people to exhibit their characters. I remember this website also tried to set up a PW a couple of times which in a way was similar to the Inn concept except with worlds. That was awesome for the month where it worked, you had like six plots going on in one setting and multiple settings. It was just too much to run though and inevitably collapsed. The Inn thing sounds totally doable though.
Hi folks I ran this about a year ago on another site and it was pretty popular so I figured I’d give it go here. If you stick with me for a moment though I’d like to explain how the game is played first as that’s kind of the main draw.

The basic idea is my NPCs give your character’s jobs that they must complete then you write up how your characters complete the tasks. Your characters can succeed or fail, die or live and I write up how it affects the world. The point is your posts start to really shape the world, all I ask is you use common sense and keep it realistic. I totally support killing characters and if you do so you can come back with a new character, I accept writers not characters. The aim here is too tell great stories, not make great characters, it is impossible to overstate this point. I’ve run things this way in the past for Steampunk and Cyberpunk settings but it seemed to be most popular in the post apocalyptic setting.
The Live Together or Die Alone (LOTDA) setting is The UK after an apocalypse. The base is a small farm called Haven. Your characters all live on the farm and contribute to its operation by scavenging nearby ruins. This is where the jobs come in to things. Like I said above my NPCs give jobs, you write about how your character tackles them and then I write about how your character’s actions impact on the world. The world got really fleshed out in the previous version and I’d like to see what different ways it will go with a different group.

Anyway, obviously I’m looking for people who like to write and this will be a real slow burn thing, like one post a week or less slow. Each post that does go up is so dense with info though that they are almost short stories.
Anyway just testing the waters to see if anyone would like to give it a go.
Hi folks. I used to RP here way back in the day, I remember the persistent world if that’s an indication of just how long that was, was it board 21 or 22? Anyway I’ve been RPing for a pretty long time now and just enjoy telling stories. After a pretty long absence I’m looking forward to doing a little world building and maybe writing a few brief games with some folks.

Anyway nice to meet you all and see the site back up.
