Name:Asim Bloodriver, Shaman Asim or just Asim to most. Some like to call him River, and while he finds this amusing it is not his preferred title.

Appearance:Large and intimidating in appearance, His clan is only second to the Moose clan in size, and Asim is little different. Very tall, standing a little under 5 feet high at the shoulders with a broad build, though perhaps a little less developed than others of his breed would be given his profession, though with the thick, red fur he sports it would be hard to really tell for sure. A few very old scars rest on his chest and fore-limbs. Large, 5 point antlers, though several points on the right antler seem to have been broken off not too long ago, coincidentally he sports fairly fresh looking scars along his shoulder and muzzle. He prefers not to talk about them. His eyes are honey brown, and his red fur is speckled white spots.

Asim is the eldest son of the Bloodriver family of the clan of Elk. It is one of the oldest and most experience families of warriors in all of their breed, are considered among the top 5 most dangerous warrior families in entire deer species. Though that does depend on who you ask. What is known is this; His father Atul Bloodriver is head of the clan, and a warrior of some renown, known as a grizzled and un-sympathetic trainer of new warriors, if not an effective one and wearing a necklace decorated with the beaks of slain griffins. While out of his prime now, his skill in rearing young warriors is unquestioned and few are foolish enough to disrespect him.
Asim was destined to take up his mantle, and continue the Bloodriver tradition of excellent in battle, to protect chieftains and their people with his strength and skill, and he did spend much of his youth training under his father. But Asim never developed the passion for combat that his brothers and sisters did. He Found his interest was not in battle but in knowledge, preferring to listen to stories and examine the wonders of the forest. As he grow older and more aware of the world around him he began to become fascinated with his clan's Shaman. They were the keepers of wisdom and understood more about the forest than any others, and that was just among his clan, where shaman were few due to the warrior disposition in their heritage. When his clan met with other, more smaller breeds he discovered that their shamans were more numerous and with great resources. He watched them from a distance for a while, before being discovered by the chief shaman of his clan and brought into their circle for learning. He began to grow most distant from his father and showed up to fewer and fewer training sessions. Eventually, when confronted about it as he began to near full adulthood, he declared he did not wish to be a warrior, but a Shaman. His father was outraged, but unable to stop his boy from doing so without openly disrespecting the wise men of his clan and causing a serious social stir in doing so. While a hotheaded Stag, he wasn't a fool and believed it was his job, just as much as it was the chiefs or the shaman's, to keep the clan stable as well as safe. While The pair would but heads many times, several times resulting in fights, He allowed his son to dedicate his time to becoming a shaman. And shaman he became, and for a few years he was happy with this. Though He began to feel as if something was wrong.
The Shaman were concerned only with their forest, And while the Elkwood was vast, their knowledge of the world rarely extended outside of it. This trouble Asim. Like a tree was a piece of a vast forest, the forest was a piece of a vast world, this was made even more clear to him as the clans of deer began to interact with the Clans of Pony. While they knew little of what the deer knew, the deer knew equally little of the pony...or of the donkey, or the zebra, or of the cousins the buffalo. Even their bloody foes the griffins, they knew little other than ways to combat them. They knew only one tree of the forest, how could they claim wisdom.
Word was spread throughout the clans of deer that the Pony Clan was gathering representatives for a group, to explore the ever growing world and to unlock its secrets. While a young, but still well respected shaman, he jumped at the chance. His father saw this as foolishness and madness on his sons part, great than him abandoning his heritage to become a 'useless tree speaker' now he was to abandon his clan as well to go wandering about the world with pony's and roots knows what else. Asim was just as resolute in this decision as he had been. Needless to say the goodbye had not been a pleasant one.
