Hello gentlefolk of RPG, it's been a hell of a few months and with life stressors pretty much kicking my ass, I'm looking for a few good peeps to write an engaging story with. As someone who's been involved in the play-by-post scene for over a decade (not necessarily in this particular forum), I realized that I'm drawn to a certain type of story and it's those stories I'm looking for today.

Rules & Things:

- I'm female, but I honestly don't care which gender I play. I do heartily enjoy writing a good male protagonist quite often, so you go right ahead and tell me your choice and I'll happily play along. My males tend to be strong-willed and dominant (call it the "alpha" trope if you will), if not somewhat emotionally tortured with a hard shell and soft center, while my females are similarly strong-willed but with a gentler edge. Nevertheless the exceptions do exist, and are fun to write also.

- I'm in my late twenties, almost at the big three-zero, so I'd rather write with someone around my own age - ideally above the age of twenty-one. But at the very least above eighteen IRL. No minors - sorry kids.

- I really don't like censoring myself, so expect the violence, profanity, adult situations... You get the drill. I like dark and gritty themes with plenty of hurt and tragedy, and I also don't do fade-to-blacks. For this reason, I only roleplay in PMs. Fun fact: I mostly write while listening to sad indie/folk/alternative or post-rock, so from this you might understand the "vibe" I enjoy.

- Romance is fun. I love it. And please keep in mind this is not necessarily the "fluffy" kind. One-night-stands, enemies to lovers, violent confrontations, hurt/comfort, broken characters finding solace in each other... I love all these things. And yes, I still do love the beautiful moments, especially when paired with mastery of descriptive wordcraft.

- Post length is not important to me; as long as you produce at least two paragraphs per post and slightly longer for an introduction, we'll be good. What matters to me is quality. I need decent spelling, grammar, and punctuation. If I can't understand your post or if the descriptions don't draw me in, I tend to get bored fairly quickly. I know this sounds mean, but I promise I'm just being as transparent as possible so I don't have to let you down after we've already started roleplaying.

- I love dramatic plot twists, so please be active in OOC discussing them with me and how we'll throw them into the story as we go along. We can also talk about real life; I love making friends with my RP partners.

- I'd rather not do faceclaims considering I usually formulate a character's appearance in my head based off textual description (like I do when reading books). But if you absolutely must have a faceclaim (again, I’d rather not), I'd be willing to compromise. Just - no anime or cartoons, please.

Plot Starters:

#1 Homecoming - PENDING

She left her small Georgia hometown years ago seeking better opportunities in glitzy NYC, breaking the heart of her high school beau on her way out. She rises high, and he joins the military. A few years later and her career's gone down in flames after getting caught with her boss by a jealous co-worker. And then the letter arrives telling her of her father's passing and how she's inherited the family home. She figures she'd go home and sort things out, only to run into her former flame now with a head full of ghosts and a missing leg. And he's not at all happy to see her.

#2 Refuge - PENDING

After an abusive husband threatens to kill her for filing that restraining order, a woman changes her identity and flees to a quiet, but picturesque Floridian oceanside town in hopes of starting life anew. Deciding to run her own bed and breakfast there and soon becoming a town fixture, she encounters the local loner whom she soon realizes harbors a few secrets of his own. And her secret? Well, her personal monster isn't done tracking her down just yet.

#3 Go To War - PENDING

He's always been a powerful fixture in the underground fight scene, but he wants to make it to the big leagues. After meeting a friendly, understanding bartender one night post-fight, they immediately hit it off and the sparks are undeniable. She soon becomes his cheerleader and makeshift manager, but with the stresses of his passion, rampant alcoholism and other vices, will their connection survive even as he rises in the ranks?

I'll be adding more starters when I get inspired. In the meantime, if you're interested in any of the above, please drop me a PM. I'll only be accepting one partner per plot. Thanks!
