Thanksgiving is a week away...

I wouldn't say I 'hate' holidays so much I find them irrelevant. Take Valentine's Day, for example -- you get one day of the year to treat the love of your life the way you should realistically be treating them each day of the year? The fuck is up with that? Then again, I feel the same way about things like Christmas (given that barely no one celebrates it for its real purpose) since you should be generous and good willed all the time, et cetera.

That being said -- I'm not American, so this is kinda pointless to me.

To cut a long rant short...because they're nice. They feel a lot more special than regular stuff. They also have a certain atmosphere. Around Halloween and Thanksgiving,things have a nice Autumn feel, enhanced by spooky decorations or fake orange and yellow leaves being plastered about. Christmas, of course, takes this up a notch with chrismas music, specials, plays, drinks, etc.
