@Everyone: This decision has been in the making for a while, as both Kadaeux and Tempest should be aware, but I've finally decided that due to a large combination of reasons, I'm going to be ordering a general hard reset on Legend of Renalta 2. That is, I'm going to be making a new thread in a few days and starting over, with the following changes in mind.

--Restructure to a more TLB-like system. This should only take a couple days to do, then a day or two more to test. Overall I will probably give it two weeks so as Tempest and Kadaeux can give it a proper look over. (The base work is mostly done, you can thank Tempest for that.) This has huge advantages, namely in simplifying things to an extreme for the GM's, and in making character progression simple and yet clearly visible over time.
--Lower the player cap to something a hell of a lot more reasonable than 40 people. I'm likely going to aim between 15 people, 20 characters, limiting it to two characters per person, up to a maximum of five people with duo characters.
--Take note of the actives and dedicated people. Give them special preference. Because y'all stuck with the torturous pacing this long.
--Restructure the plot to a smaller scale to start with so the players are all in the same general area doing different tasks. (ex: The Arian Village mission as the start off for everyone. Again, akin to how TLB has every mission in the same area, directly interconnected.) This means that if one mission is plagued with leavers, another mission can send people over to help them. It also makes sending in reinforcements (new characters/players) easier.
--Simplify the traits system. Five traits in three trees. You can pick up to 2-3 of them to start with. This is initial though, there might be a couple more traits per tree, or you might be only allowed to start in one tree and can expand out to the others over time, and etc.
--Diplomacy, while it may be influenced by traits, will be up to you--not a dice roll--to decide. Ex: If you're built like a tank, you can intimidate better, but you--the person playing the character--still have to pull that off yourself.
--Delete stats. Direct numerical comparison is complex and led to humongous problems in calculating dice rolls in combination with the traits, and the traits are straight up better for a PbPRP environment.
--Leave uniques up to the players to decide on their own, entirely on their own. This includes traits like Soulwalker. Yes, this means no more clone-feelings with the stuff that defines your character most, because that's lame.
--Change the homelands system to a reasoning system. Homelands will remain entirely in your biography to decide for yourself. Reasoning is why you justify your character being there: Poor reasons will be declined for simply being ill thought out. (Note: "Greed" is a valid reason, so is a desire to "win" over one of the queens, and so on. It's a personal motivation, a drive to see the plot completed, to be part of the Queen's Blades either to use them or because you believe in their cause, or so on. Should help some people with feeling like their characters don't belong, or in isolating characters that literally have no reason to be there.)

All the while, I'll be updating everyone using this thread when certain things are complete. "Sneak previews" and the like. I'm going to keep y'all in on the loop. Stay tuned.
Interest Check section is what you're looking for, buddy.
I have... No idea what this is about. Lucid dreaming?
Ahh, let me try to clarify further then.

[Object] In front of [entity] means the object is ahead of the entity, in front of, directly before it.

Ex: Sam is in front of Sarah, means that Sam is ahead of Sarah, in her forward facing view.

The tower is in front of the APC, and is in its way. Ahead of it.
@Melonhead: Excuse typos, at work.

#1: Post clearly states: "in front of the APC"

#2: Most APC's are back loaded. It's simply the most practical way to design a metal box with soldiers in it. Still, I will keep in mind to mention such details in the future.

#3: Knowing where the wolves are (attacking front of APC) and knowing where chainsword bastard is, (back attacking door) we can deduce you are viewing the side of the APC via geometry. Through extrapolation, we can deduce that even if you don't know where the door is, you know that if the chainsword beastie went around a side of the apc and you were viewing the front or back, you would still be able to see him. Therefore, for him to vanish from sight without chameleon, you would have to be viewing the side of the APC.

You have all the details you need mate. Just didn't read it correctly and I didn't clarify that standard APC configurations put the door on the back.

Hope that clarifies enough.

Does this include me?

Yes.

Oh, doesn't -this- give me ideas...

Damnit ... I was so stoked on Frankenstein, but oh well ... Goleyeith works too! Actually ... come to think of it; if Goleyeith's got a friend, it would probably be Frankenstein so there's still hope!Peter is ready for insertion to the South-East or Central Apartment Sectors and awaiting the all clear. Am willing to tag along with either Icarus or Zed for an enhanced reinforcement attempt. Also, due to his ethics, Peter would not be opposed to enter nomination as Goleyeith bait, but he needs a double; after all, two heads are better than one ;).

Speaking of insertion, I hope Peter knows how to jump from a plane...

Well it's not human. :p

Did someone say... Special eyes?

Or its not actually seeing you in the traditional sense.

You raise a very good point, Tempest in regards to sounds and smell! I cannot specifically quote every source, but I believe studies were done based on human habitats and biospheres. Some human beings and creatures do know their backyards/native territories better than others and just smell alone can often severely disrupt stealth efforts. No disrespect to American soldiers, but some are notorious for alerting Taliban insurgents towards certain areas based on their aromatic trails. Now ... if Taliban insurgents can sniff out American G.I.s in the desert ... could the same be applied to enhanced irradiated mutants and large nightmarish creatures? That being said, different perks and skill-sets could benefit all creeds and classes! On a side note, I wanted to clarify though ... now that I've an approved character sheet, am I going to wait on our next posting cycle, a la Premonitions or can Peter immediately insert into either South-East or Central Apartment Sectors?

Well I did ask you to wait for the next posting cycle.

If Brovo is DM-ing, I make a habit not to get anywhere close to even thinking about confident. That man does terrible things in Nuffle's name...

Why, I have no idea what you're talking about, I'm a perfectly balanced GM... I promise...

Not all mutants are mutated humans. Animals suffered from irradiation too. Of course, we all know there are more than the 5 basic senses now, or we could assume at least. You will have to wait until the next round to join. Brovo will handle the details. The Central Apartment Sectors are on the number of players who may join that area and has been since initial launch. Brovo will likely assign you to South-West or South-East with his next round update. 1) They aren't homunculus. Truly. Mutants, yes. Not homunculus... Though, I would expect they are brute-class.... Primarily with at least one if not both of these mutations... With increased blood flow and nutrients to the muscles, as well as tougher cells to better resist the stresses that come with it, this character enhances their strength and overall dexterity, allowing them to bend iron and giving them an overall more intimidating figure. (Bonus to intimidation, enhanced strength beyond human norms, slightly higher defense) (Mutation Effect: Most clothing will be tight and they will look uncannily, almost inhumanly muscular, complete with an eight pack and thighs that dwarf small children.) With thicker skin that is made out of tougher materials, it becomes harder to penetrate. Regular melee weapons, such as bayonets, have a harder time piercing this character’s outer hide, and when it is pierced the damage tends to be minimal. It acts like Kevlar, basically. (Bonuses to defense especially to melee, lessens the overall effect of wounds.) (Mutation Effect: Skin will be imperfection free. No scars, no pimples, no warts, no birth marks, no wrinkles. It will look quite odd, almost doll-like.)

Fun fact: There is a lot more than the "basic five" human senses out there. In fact, even we have more than five. Example: Close your eyes, then move your arms. You always know where they are despite the fact that you cannot see them. This is called Proprioception, and is a separate and distinct "sense" from touch. Itching is also a distinct and separate sense. Technically speaking, so far as I'm aware, nothing is off limits for life to form a sensory input to, so... That's generally what I go off of for mutations in TLB. It's just enhancing what's already there on a basic level, then more advanced ones create new sensory nerves and methods altogether. (ex: Back spines are an evolution on the sensory input of touch, chameleon is an entirely new evolution for humans but exists in nature and starts out involuntary, etc.)

Tempest is right, they aren't homunculus. At least, not by the standard definition. Though, Tempest, these mutants in the fog aren't human either. The orange blood, orange teeth, and so on, is a give away to this that gets revealed more as you go along.

Plus you can talk to them. Some of them are intelligent. You can ask them for yourself what they are, though I doubt their answers will be really comprehensible if taken literally.

But yeah. In general, you'll notice their mutations will be similar to yours in some respects. They start off the same basic idiom: Evolve from the baseline senses and tissues. Since some of them are humanoid, that inevitable means they'll have similarities to human mutants. :3

EDIT

No Tempest, not saying you don't know the whole senses thing, just letting others know by jumping off of it.

GreenGoat said
So thick skinned includes the disappearances of nipples and belly buttons as well? What a terrible fate to suffer.

Most of the mutations are bizarre. Tempest's character, Georgia, has completely black eyes. Ever seen a spider's eye up close? Or the typical "black eyes" of a grey alien? Looks like that.
@Everyone: Recruitment is closed until further notice. Those still waiting or working on your sheets, you're still in, just finish them and I'll approve them. Just no more new sheets.

Also, naming rights. Since the creature didn't have a name, now it does: Goleyeith.

@LimeyPanda: Kiku has a free execution on the Vampyr if she wants to. You can one hit kill it in any way you like--the creature isn't designed to react to being spotted, so it has no method of self-defense beyond dying horrible.

@South-East: As a friendly hint, I'd stay away from that orange liquid if I were you...

@Maxim: Marvin Walters, unfinished: No biography!

@GourmetItalia: Peter Táo, approved.

@Orion Icarus: Liam Grillod, error: You can't wear multiple types of armour at the same time. (Light or medium.)

EDIT

@Newcomers: One more posting cycle and then y'all can get introduced. That premonitions bit involves you. ;)

South West

Nathaniel and Chris move into the fog ahead of the others, Chris' mercenary training contrasted against Nathaniel's paranoia, but both were effective enough to get them to the APC only a few hundred feet into the fog. The area, luckily, was still choked with debris that they could use as cover at any point. There, the APC sat silently. Something the tank driver hadn't mentioned was the massive tower--at least eighty feet tall, stretching out past their vision--made out of a green-brown flesh, that had sprouted up in front of the APC. From, presumable, the top of the tower, creatures were climbing down the walls. At the APC, there was two creatures, akin to wolves, tearing apart the front of the APC with their elongated paws. Both Chris and Nathaniel would feel fear looking at them: An unnatural kind, that could likely debilitate them if it came down to a melee fight.

At the door of the APC was something that would likely surprise everyone there. A six foot tall man, shirtless, wielding a chainsword. His body had no scars or hair, not even nipples or a bellybutton--it was not human, and yet, took human form. It was battering away at the APC's door, screaming guttural curses in Latin. Unlike the wolves, it noticed when Chris and Nathaniel appeared. When it grinned, one could see orange coloured teeth, and an orange coloured tongue as it licked its lips. "Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap..." Its voice was surprisingly dead on to that of a human male, though without any tangible sort of emotion. It cackles as it slips to the opposite side of the APC they were at.

The woman in blue was nowhere to be found here, though Nathaniel could feel her presence close by. Though he likely tried, he couldn't discern precisely where the emanations were coming from. Still, he knew what she had said, he could perhaps use that as a clue to find her.

Bruce would see two more of the wolf-like creatures stalking up behind Nathaniel and Chris, silently. They however noticed the approach of the Ignis Dei and sped off into the fog. Bruce knew their behaviour from back on the Australian continent: They would try to circle around them in the fog, and if any of them were at any point alone, leap in and attack. They may even try that against a mech, and judging by how well the claws were destroying the APC's frontal armour, it would likely get through and kill the pilots of the two mechs.

Thus, the south-west group was left with several targets. They could hunt down the two that sped off into the fog, flush them out, and kill them to prevent an ambush, though that might allow the reinforcements to arrive before they could feasible get into the APC themselves and see if the Biologist was still alive. On the other hand, rushing for the Biologist could open themselves up to an attack, and the man with the chainsaw had looked fairly intimidating, though they knew his position behind the other side of the APC. Walking around the APC would attract the attention of the two attacking the front of the APC however, and could cause them to be attacked all at once.

Decisions, decisions.
South East

Georgia's brazen charge out of the building didn't catch the attention of the creature, but it caught Carolyn's attention, who looked at her wide eyed for a moment before nodding in approval with a large grin. As Georgia pulls the trigger, she could feel a sensation running through her veins, and her vision would shimmer for a moment as the combat drugs kicked in. Her grip steadied, and her eyes could focus on the targets more clearly as her bullet spray managed to badly damage one of the eyes on the Goleyeith's leg. It didn't seem to react in pain to that, but it did prevent it from noticing the small rounded, metallic object that rolled underneath its copious form.

BANG

The creature immediately falls down and tumbles over itself. As it does, Georgia hears an ear splitting scream of pain, genderless and alien, followed up gargles and howls like those of a creature driven to some kind of deranged rage. Her instincts would indicate to her to flee while she had the chance.

During all of this, Junko's bullet finally reached its mark and pierced the side of the creature, but had little apparent effect. If it did have any internal organs, they weren't hit, though for about a minute, an orange liquid did roll down from its side, and it did seem agitated by the wound briefly as it stumbled trying to stand back up.

Meanwhile, Eira landed safely on the apartment building, though it did indeed creak under the weight of the mech, and her barrage kept the blinded, wounded Goleyeith down for just enough time to allow Carolyn to get everyone off the tank. They immediately bolted for the apartment that James and Morai were holding up in. Carolyn however, stayed behind to help Antov climb out of the cockpit. He too was a pilot, judging by his outfit.

The creature finally starts to come back to its senses as it stumbles into the apartment that Eira was standing on. It did so with enough force to break the foundation, and the building, without further adieu, cracked and started to collapse, sending Eira down into the alleyway with a rough landing. Had she not been in her mech, that same fall would have most certainly killed her, but instead, it left with her with a couple bruises and a very pissed off Goleyeith slowly managing to regain vision.

Its eyes open widely, spotting Roman nearby itself it immediately lashes out. However, bullets flying from a certain apartment window rain down and hit one of its eyes, causing its aim to be a little off and giving Roman enough time to evade the attack, though with likely a renewed sense of survival in his mind. He would however notice the Goleyeith's eyes change colour from pure blackness. There was a small, dark red orb at the centre of each one now. It was evolving actively to fight them. There was no guarantee the flashbang trick would work as effectively next time.

As James would finish firing off the burst that saved Roman's life, he would feel a hand grasp his shoulder, a cold, dead hand. Being pulled backward he would see the face of a Vampyr, its eyeless, grey form akin to those of the mutants within the Shadow Zone but native to the biome of Bunker Chicago. Its seven foot tall height easily would overpower him, its mouth opens, fangs gleaming... Before a bullet pierces its skull, red blood spraying across James' armour as it falls dead. In the doorway was Morai--or, well, most of Morai--pistol in his left hand, nodding to James. "Got fixed up enough to help you now." He states simply as his arm lowers. "No man should go it alone here." He then slouches down beside the open doorway, pistol in hand, and manages a small smile with now cleaner teeth that weren't coated in blood. "Now what do you think we should do?"
Central Apartment

Jenive set up and prepared to fire, but stopped upon seeing the whole situation unfolding below. Quickly she goes on her radio, realizing that the creature was evolving. "Achilles Heel, open fire on the massive creature in south-east. Give everyone time to run!" The Achilles Heel immediately descends past her head and starts to position itself between the apartment buildings. "I am SO gonna tag me this Gol-eye-ith! Get'it? Ahahahaha... Y'all can thank me later!" Jenive then targets one of its eyes and fires, missing, but hitting the leg at least, causing a little more of the orange liquid to drain out of it before the hole healed up. "What do you think that is Junko? Its blood?" She asks curiously of her sniping partner, managing to keep a chipper attitude even now, before noticing something out of the corner of her eye.

Jenive rolls out of the way of a chainsword slamming into the concrete where her head had been. She immediately stumbles to her feet and sees a woman, six feet tall, and wearing loose clothing, stares at them both. She was bald and, like her male counterpart, had no sign of birth marks or scars or anything else, yet also mimicked the human form. "Not bad... But I can't let you continue to hurt my pet." Her sword roars to life as Jenive quickly looks to Junko with fear, then looks back at the woman. What was she supposed to do, she was a sniper, not a melee specialist!.. If only she had kept one of them behind with her. Drat. Damnable imperfect plans.

Meanwhile, as Kai and Kiku checked the rooms, they would both hear a voice. An angelic, sweet voice, perfect in all ways, feminine, just like the one that had (not to their knowledge) spoken to Nathaniel earlier. "You will find a boy here. His name is Abimael. Address him by name and he will not attack you." Sure enough, as Kai checked the third room on the left, he would see a boy, no older than fourteen, without a single hair, and with red eyes. The boy pulls out a pistol, in a configuration totally unknown, and points it at Kai. "S-Stop, p-p-please, d-don't... Don't..." His english was broken and his voice cracked, as though his voice box was damaged... Or incomplete.

Kiku, on the other hand, would see a Vampyr attempting to hide in the second room on the right. Amusingly, it seemed, she had the drop on a creature that normally has the drop on people. It wouldn't directly attack her so long as she didn't make it think she knew it was there, so with a little sleuthing, she could easily move in and execute it before it could harm anyone. However, one quick glance across the room also had her see the body of a dead pilot, likely one who had attempted to flee from the attack and hide in this very room. His neck had been ripped out, though the blood had already dried, leaving her without any pleasure in the act, and the Vampyr's blood, well, unless she wished to be infected with something that would require regular medication to keep under control, its blood was most certainly out of the question for her delectable taste buds.

"Ryan Dufont?"
"Yes, yes, what is it? Is it about the budget for Research and Development? We don't have any left over for--"
"Eve has been detected."
"What?! Where!"
"Her psychic call was detected in the burgeoning war zone in downtown sector."
"Inside the Shadow Zone?"
"Yes, but not far. It's the content, sir, that is the interesting part... We couldn't make out most of it, but she called for a Nathaniel... I believe we have this... Nathaniel, on record?"
"Yeah. Marie was defending why we should allow that borderline psychopath with delusions of grandeur into the military... Maybe she knows more than I do."
"We doubt that, there's nothing a military officer would know that we don't."
"Don't count on that with her... Still. Send in Mirkov. Now. It's too much of a clusterfuck there for us to try to take her in with extreme force, so use subtly. Also, try to get me in contact with Carolyn Antoinette. Her father owes me a favour. I can use that here and now."
"We'll try, but she isn't known for her exemplary sense of patriotism, Ryan, neither her or that dirty street scum she associates with as a friend."
"Just try. That's all I ask."
"Oh, and one more thing... Can we talk about that budget now that you've mentioned it? We have this new, glorious way of compacting trash that shou--"
"That's enough of that, Joseph. End transmission."
Revans Exile said I worked very hard to be cold, to purge all compassion for any human I do not personally know & like. Then I got to know more people and found out, I didn't have to work hard at all, most aren't worth caring about.

Funny, I tend to be the opposite. I don't have most of my empathy and sympathy and seek it out where I can, ruling by logic to stay comprehensible sane while trying to balance that against being too cold.

As for your hatred of cyclists, that isn't cold or logical: That's pathos, emotional appeal. A cyclist who is hit by a vehicle after being a dimwitted moron who didn't obey basic safety and traffic laws doesn't deserve my sympathy, I agree, they tested Darwinism for no reason and ended up splattered on the pavement. (Also: Common sense--don't fucking challenge the driver of the eight ton SUV powered by fire to a contest against your piddly dink bicycle. Even if you're in the right, logically speaking, if they don't care, they'll mow your ass down.)

However, the acts of a few moronic cyclists does not mean that all cyclists are the same. I ride a bicycle. I obey traffic laws. I'm not a dimwitted moron. Your brushing them all with the same stroke is by no means a logical conclusion: You hate cyclists. That's not cold.

However, your statement of "they wore no safety equipment and broke basic common sense and traffic laws, ergo, deserve to die" is cold. There's still logic in that statement: They failed to obey common safety procedures that would have saved their lives, for no reason. The fact that they're children is irrelevant to the logic of that statement, but does contribute to it being cold, as it lacks empathy.

Just figured I'd try and help you out here, since you seek to be as cold as you can be.
