What do you think about a Red Line native that doesn’t fall under the usual archetypes, but joins a pirate crew or the marines for personal reasons?

Across the four blues, stretching over the Red Line, through Paradise and Hell of the Grand Line lies a legendary treasure. Unmeasured fame. Unmatchable power. Ever lasting wealth. Just when The World Government thought they were ending a war, in actuality their causality was much bigger. They allowed for Whitebeard to inspire a generation more threatening than the Saiaku no Sedai (Supernovas).
With the start of the New Age, a new wave of pirates went to sea looking for One Piece, having heard Whitebeard confirm its existence. A number of pirates from the previous era escaped Level 6, and it was noted by X Drake that a new age also means that the Marines themselves now must change with this. However the exact direction this new era will take is still as of yet unknown.
Now a short 3 days after the death of Shirohige and his 2nd Division commander Fire Fist Ace a noticeable increase in pirate activities has surfaced. Too much for Justice to stand idle. Thanks to the death of Whitebeard, a new age has begun upon the world and the "Age of Pirates" that Roger established has ended. Thus, begins a new time for Marines as well. With the greatest Marines, Sengoku and Garp resigning, a power vacuum for the position of fleet admiral has occurred. Despite Sengoku's recommendation for Aokiji to take his position, the other higher echelons and new faces felt more worthy. The decision was decided over a 10-day battle between Aokiji and Sakazuki.
To compensate the loss of much military powers, the World Government granted the Marines unprecedented power, and with Sakazuki, as the new fleet admiral, the organization has become an overall much more powerful organization of justice ever since.
At the start of the storyline, the New Age has arrived. This New Age of Piracy was brought upon by changes in the world. Various characters who have mentioned it either spoke of a world on the verge of chaos, or a great age where pirates no longer chase their dreams.
Welcome all to the epicness of "3D2Y". For those of you who were not active in the in the interest check this is an RP based off the world of One Piece. Long has the days of Gol D. Roger passed and what is known as the New Age has begun. With the usual protagonists' laying low and training, the seas have opened new doors and opportunities have presented themselves for both justice and piracy. You are in control of the world's fate. What lies ahead can only be foretold by yourself. Decide the next step in The World Governments fight against the tyranny caused by those labeling themselves as pirates. Be the reason the World Government topples and drowns. Our future as role players holds countless of possibilities.
Hey guys, the almighty Brxvo here to oversee that things go smoothly. Rules should not have to be explained to experienced RPers like yourselves. Though I will go over a few things. So without further ado...
Rules &Tips
- The common guild rules apply to this RP as any other.
- Please if you are to be absent from the RP make a plausible reason for your characters absence also. This will prevent you trapping another player's character in an escapable scenario.
- Do not be afraid to question my judgement. You have the right to your own opinion that I must respect.
- Enjoy yourselves people. If you aren't satisfied please let it be known I'll try to make the most rational decisions.
Your Character
- Progression- Fight!! Go exploring the island. Create your own Easter eggs and throwaway crazy bartender NPCs.
- Death- You cant die as long as you can continue to type. But for realism sake, and a reason to think before you act it will be possible for your character to be unable to fight for the remainder of an arc due to battle injuries. Weakness could bring alot of unwanted attention to your character.
- Character Sheets go here first before moved to the character tab.
- Please remember to keep canon interactions to a minimum.
- If it's lore it goes. If passable within the One Piece universe then I'd say I'm left with no choice but to accept it.

Since there are going to be canon characters, does this mean that people who want to create characters with Devil Fruit powers will have to create original ones?
Ahhh I see you've caught on. But your correct. Until you kill one of the canon characters and claim their fruit as your own. This might make other players wait before creating a fruit, due to their desire of a canon fruit.
So interested! Some questions though
How strong will characters need start out as initially? Is there any minimum time our character needs to have been active for in the world? How "traditional" do the roles need to be on crews and bases (e.g. a tailor or florist or some such nonsense [in a good way, I'm no parade rainer])?
As for both factions I'm going to say 6-12 months prior to the starting day of the story. That doesn't have to be exact though close.
On a strength scale. Think Alabasta arc. Strong though not strong enough for the rest of the Grand Line.
As for tradition. To hell with tradition! Simple as that. Do as you please.
Alright that's a good amount of people to get things rolling. Before I craft the OOC thread I will require a Co-GM with sufficient knowledge of the One Piece World and Lore. It will take me a total of 24-48 hours unless I can find one of my old One Piece creations and tweak it.

This RP would be set during the beginning of the "New Age" started by the confirmation of the existing treasure known as "The One Piece" by none other than Edward Newgate. Why choose this period in time instead of the cliche (insert random number years)after the death of the pirate king Luffy? Because as a dedicated reader and viewer I have realized that an infinite number of things were possible during the gap. For both Pirates and the World Government. How has the tides changed within the Blue Seas and The Grand Line? Well this is a question to ask yourself. What are YOU going to do to change the tides?
We will be playing the individuals who are going to control the fate of the seas. As for playable characters? Your going to be required to provide a detailed character sheet of an ORIGINAL character I will soon provide. Being in the time frame we will be playing in, I will allow SLIGHT canon interactions when it comes to creating your character. Such as; You might've been stationed on an outpost with Coby before, he may know you by name or face but your not close at all! or possibly(Seeing how he's dead) you've might've fought the Whitebeard crew prior to the death of their captain. It would make plenty sense that nobody knows about these interactions because you were nobodies THEN. Are you ready to change the world? Please Please don't overdose on this. Be lucky I'm giving us this privilege.
There will be plenty of canon interactions between players and alot of our favorite characters from the manga itself. MOST of these are locked in NPCs that are going to be driving the current arc we are in. Pirates will be just entering the Grand Line possibly with small bounties from the Blues. Marines, after a briefing by your new Fleet Admiral you will be stationed on one of those islands, naturally. What happens next I leave up to you. Diversity and depth is a must.
As for character progression, players will be rewarded after each arc by the appointed GM and Co-GM. Pirates will receive a raise in bounty, which comes with fame and notoriety. As for Marines, seeing how operate under a stricter hierarchy you will receive medals and letters of recommendation, straight to the fleet admiral's desk. Enough of these stack up and promotion is eminent.
Raises in bounty and rank will be judged by; post frequency, interaction in the OOC as well as IC, post quality, and creativity. And the obvious actions of your controlled characters. I'm allowing a current maximum of 2 characters per player. Unless you show me the weight of an extra character won't effect your post quality and frequency for EACH character.
If I continue to see a steady progress in the RP, I will reward players with bigger roles within the RP such as an arc based around their character/squad/crew. Or allow them to expand outside our realm and request a canon playable character (Anyone not yet seen in The New World is available) when that time comes

This type of RP needs balance in all elements. So you are NOT allowed to form a pirate crew with less than 2 role players per crew 3 player maximum. This helps with character interaction and OP crews. No more than 3 crews for now unless our number begin to rise. I'm seriously hoping we reach to 10-15 players eventually. Possibly a great deal more.
Marines will be assigned to one of the "G" bases of their faction. You may decide your own "G" base to be assigned to. I'm also requiring the same rule with these. Each base must have 2-3 role players assigned.
Arcs have no time limit, when the GMs and overall opinion of the players feel it's time to move into the next arc, or you feel you can't progress any further in the current arc, then the proper preparations will be made to pull us further into the story.
The world moves with or without you. You don't have to abide by any linear plot but your own. Arcs are created to give the players a push in progress and assisting in excitement. Your welcome to do your own thing, though. All arcs will include or lead up to canon characters. We choose the future of this world if we choose to kill Doflamingo before Luffy gets to Dressrosa do be up (I pray you don't) so be it.
