Hazel awoke, fresh and ready for her first _real_ day of school. Yesterday was exciting, but there really was nothing like the feeling of excelling at something. At least that was the case for Hazel. She woke up early, picked a nice outfit, showered, put her makeup on, and was off in a flash. Breakfast for Hazel was a quick affair: Junk food from one of AcadeMMO's many vending machines eaten on the way to her first class. She was lucky that she exercised so much because Hazel frankly ate like crap. The day started, as expected, with PE. Hazel was, naturally, over-competitive with everything and went hard with whatever activity was given. After that she found herself in her academic classes. When it came to these classes she was focused and didn't miss a thing. Afterwards she spent a quick lunch period her friends, and the day morphed into Martial classes. Hazel was, of course, in an advanced swordsmanship class. Most people outright refused to spar with her, but it was hard to fault them for it. Hazel didn't see it that way, however, and they were cowards as far as she was concerned. So she found herself practicing against dummies for most of the period. She knew her defense was sloppy, but it was hard to practice that against practice targets. The rest of her Martial classes passed by quickly, and she found herself in a few short hours approaching the Special Assignments board. She suddenly remembered her promise to Hayato. She did say that she would go on a Assignment with him, but realized she left him with no way to contact her. Hazel stared at the the A-Ranked boards, but she soon noticed Hayato at the D-Ranked section. _Speak of the devil... I guess I have to follow through on what I said._ She sighed, and started approaching. That was, until she spied the uptight Magi from yesterday. Approaching Hayato. Hazel stopped. _No damn way. I told the guy I'd help him but..._ She sighed once again, and resumed her approach. Hazel didn't believe in going back on her word. She moved past the upperclassman and parked herself on the far side of Hayato. She didn't bother greeting him, and didn't bother to let him return the senior's greeting. "I told you I'd go on a mission with you, so if you want to now is your chance."
Personally I have no qualms with teaming up with anyone, but I feel that Hazel would probably have to be somewhat coerced into a team. Although she did already mistakenly offer to team with Hayato, so maybe she can be roped into a group with that offer.
I'm fine with the skip.
> Just a thought, but as an A-Rank, I doubt Hazel would be allowed to take missions with most of the other characters given they're all E or D (only know of Rian even then) ranks. > > Can't imagine the school would let her waste her skill with such easy missions/take away opportunity for those of an appropriate rack to gain experience. I see your point, but at the same time I think seeing as AcadeMMO is a school they would tolerate higher-level students helping lower-level ones. Kind of like tutoring, almost. But I do think it may have been a bit of a mistake making Hazel really good at things, although it sounded good to me in my CS.
Soon the people around Hazel began to trickle out of the gym, and eventually she found the immediate group around her dispersed. She really hoped that the upperclassman didn't follow through on his decision to report her. It wouldn't have been exactly the first time that someone complained about her going too far in a sparring match. *They're just not strong. People like him don't understand what it's like in the real world, outside AcadeMMO.* Hazel was more then completely convinced that she was in the right. Hazel began to exit the gym, but a blonde haired girl she didn't know caught her eye. She was in the spectator seats, and Hazel assumed she must have watched her fight. Hazel paid the girl a curt nod as she walked past, exiting the gym. Hazel moved towards the A-Ranked dorms. She entered. The A-Rank dorm, was, as usual, mostly emptied. In a school full of kids it was only natural that the majority held to the bottom side of the rankings. Hazel pondered what an S-Ranked dorm must be like. She wanted to imagine it to be some grandiose marvel of a room. Her thoughts didn't even turn to how it might be lonely, for Hazel was used to being alone. She headed down the hall and headed into her room. It was by and large bare, excluding the bed, and a pair of large trunks lying on it. One trunk included the essentials: Shampoo, conditioner, a large amount of cosmetics, toothbrush, toothpaste, clothing. The other trunk was a molded case that included the _other_ essentials: Her personal collection of swords. She moved the first trunk off its perch onto floor, and opened the second to confirm its contents. She ran down a mental checklist: Raiper, Longsword, and Zweihänder. They were all in their proper places. The weapons were exquisite. Hazel, of course, deserves the best, and with the money she makes from Special Assignments she can get it. She closed the case and set it beside its partner on the ground. She sighed and plopped down onto the bed. She decided to rest, if just for a moment.
I don't blame anyone's character for not liking Hazel, she's not a nice person. Also, 71342, question for whenever you get back, I noticed that you occasionally capitalize random Rs. Is there some special significance behind this? Just curious.
Hazel frowned as Hayato accepted the Cleric's help. *Hmph. Unbelievable, he's going to let a girl act more macho then him?* "Field experience matters. No matter how long you train nothing compares to what you learn doing real stuff." She hesitated for a moment, then spoke before she could stop herself. "Maybe you can tag along with me some time, see what real combat is like." She regretted it instantly. She didn't want to have someone else drag her behind, but it was too late now. She gave no indication that the offer was a mistake. She smiled, this time her real-but-not-real smile again. Despite everything, there was something about him. She wanted to help Hayato Nishimura. "Also, yeah, we can fight again." The prickly observer turned to leave, but not before dropping another disparaging comment. She huffed as he walked away. She turned to Hayato, "He is a Magi," Hazel didn't only excel on the battlefield, but also in the classroom, "His crest belongs to the Magical Research Society. He also fits the part." She sighed, "Reporting us for sparring. Clearly you came out no worse for the ware. This is part of our training. I don't hate Magi, but some of them really don't get how it works for Knights. Injuries happen all the time!"
Man Hazel is pissed. Also, I don't know why everyone thinks Hazel hates Magi. She literally said that someone weak wasn't worth protecting them.
Hazel grinned as Hayato admitted defeat. *You're on another level.* Hazel's ego definitely was not wounded today. "Hmmmmm... how many Special Assignments?" She thought for a second. She had lost count. "A lot. I like to go whenever I can." She smiled at him. She supposed it wouldn't hurt to compliment him too. "You're not too bad. With some practice I think you'll make a good Knight." Hazel's smile dropped as a student with a stern voice started shouting her down. Their observer. "Restraint? There's no point to sparring if you hold back. You spar to practice, and you don't get anything out of it if you don't go your all." She spied the crest on his sleeve. Everything made sense. "You wouldn't really understand, Magi aren't frontline fighters. I'm sure a Knight like him," She nodded towards Hayato, "Can handle that. If he couldn't I'd say he isn't worthy to protect you Magi." Hazel's smile was long gone, and her face went stern. Another interloper came onto the scene. A Cleric, this time. Her body was sore, and she would likely have a lasting bruise, but she wasn't going to ask for help from a Cleric. "I'm fine." She said brusquely.
Hazel laughed as her blow connected. Hayato went down, and she took the opportunity to call out to him. "This is fun Hayato! We'll have to do this again. Maybe I'll make a swordsman of you!" She grinned as he went in for another blow. She could tell now that she had him on the ropes. After his next attack she'll go for the finisher. He charged at her again, this time going for a much more direct attack. She realized they were being watched, and she decided to make a show of it. She braced herself for Hayato's attack and met his sword charge. She held her blade upside down and attempted to swerve the path of his blade away from her. Her efforts were mostly successful, taking a glancing blow to her side. As the blade swerved past she spun around Hayato and found herself at his back. Her sense of showmanship was impeccable, and she knew that a 'final blow' was a real crowd pleaser. Hayato was on the ropes, and she thought she could pull it off. She raised her sword with excessive showmanship, once again opting for a large sweeping blow. "Let's finish this!" She called out, voice booming. Her sword glowed a brilliant blue, and she brought it down on Hayato. The move was a kill move, she knew, but she was very careful not to go for a spot that would kill him. She angled her blade past his head, intending it to come down on his sword arm. She would cause no permanent damage. Hopefully. OOC Note: I described Hazel's final blow in my skills as a move that will kill small weakened creatures, but against Hayato it will probably just make his arm hurt like hell.
