Mayt sighed and shook his head again, glancing to Penny. "Master Jamie wouldn't ask someone to join Phoenix Wing knowing their life would be at risk. That's a given." He stood up to head out as well, deciding to get dinner now rather than later. "See you later Penny, unless you want to come grab dinner with me." His voice is casual, like it won't really bother him if she says no, and his posture is relaxed, half faced towards her and his head turned. One hand on his hip and the other hanging loosely at his side.

Mayt bit his lip, considering what he was about to say before speaking, his voice laden with sarcasm. "Great to know an enemy of the guild is smart." He cracks his neck before continuing, no longer sarcastic, but a little terse. "And I believe beyond any shadow of a doubt Master Jamie did not offer Melina a place in Phoenix Wing. But I do believe she surrendered when she saw she was outmatched. Figuring with what her magic is, if she's so outmatched she can't land a blow, she can't fight." He sighs, and glances between Penny and Damian. "Did she hurt either of you?" He bit his lip again, his hand going unthinkingly to his sword hilt. "Cuts, not bruises, that is."

Mayt sighed, and finished his drink as Maddox was leaving, missing him disappearing from the doorway. He jingled the ice around the glass for a few moments before he looked over at Damian, hoping to have a conversation. "So, what was the fight with the blood mage like? I can see no one got hurt, at least not that I can see, so I assume it went well." Mayt crossed his arms and rested them on the counter top, looking over at Damian, waiting for a reply.

Mayt had a hard time not copying Sasha's mistake of shattering her glass, he nodded to Damian greeted him, and he looked over at Maddox, his voice a little terse. "I think we've just been on alternate work schedules, I've been in the guild for a couple months." He paused taking a sip. "And with what Master Jamie knew, I still wouldn't risk the entire guild to save one person. Or seem to claim that's what we're doing. I'm certain there's a number of people here that could get this book without causing a hullabaloo. This Wes guy could be a saint for all it matters, and I wouldn't risk the entire guild to save him. I think Master Jamie is underestimating the Council's sphere of influence." He sighs, letting go of the glass and letting his fist clench. "Hell, I can tell you right now someone in the guild is going to get seriously hurt. And if it wasn't for the fact I have ulterior motives for wanting to put holes in the magic council, I wouldn't still be in the guild."
