"And here," She added, lifting her chain when he stopped swinging and settling it around his shoulders. "If you carry me this way your hands are free for whatever else, though I'm sure you would have figured that out at some point." She transmitted a smile and shortened the chain so she would rest comfortably. "I'm glad to have such a competent Meister. Here's hoping you continue to impress me."

Melody hesitated, suddenly flustered. "I, uh, well... yes?" She stammered, feeling her face heating. "I, excuse me." She said, and a few seconds later he was holding her chain instead of her hand, and her other end floated for a second before falling towards the floor.

"I'm sorry," She apologized, feeling much more relaxed in weapon form, "I just need to calm down." Her voice was soul wavelengths translated into an understandable form, something even the most mismatched souls could manage, but she could feel through their contact that their resonance was anything but weak, and he had such a strong wavelength too. "I'd be happy to be your partner, Jacholaus."

"Whatever," Alexia said, starting to walk towards the labs. "I guess I'm just a better scientist than a politician, but if somebody dedicated their entire career to working under me I would rather give them the benefit of the doubt than point fingers. Seems like a good way to lose allies to me." She cut off further comment by dropping the door between them.

Back in her lab, she was disappointed to see whatever salvageable serum had been left had gotten swept up by the cleaning crews, and sighed. "Guess we're starting over then." She jumped a little at the weight on her shoulders, and smiled as she turned her head to pet Jojo. "At least you'll never accuse me of anything," She said, sitting down at her stool. "Time to get to work," She sighed as she picked up a syringe, only hesitating for a moment before sliding the needle into her arm.
