I don't think we actually have our regalia guys. Pretty sure that, being rookies, today is the day of the ritual. Notice minato only has one sword.

Also I really don't see how it's a copout, since the bird has little meaning whatsoever.

A young brown haired boy lifted himself into a sitting position without a sound, his eyes unwaveringly focused on the falcon. He grabbed his own pillow, but instead of throwing it he stripped off the pillow case and wrapped it around his arm. Raising his arm, he gave a piercing whistle, inviting the bird to land. It hovered for a minute before deciding to accept his offer, swooping down and burying it's long talons in the soft material, luckily stopping just short of piercing it. The boy's softened as he gazed at the bird, stroking it's feathers lightly.

"What a magnificent creature," He said, standing up and moving over to the window. He lowered his arm so it could fly back out if it wanted, or if not he just closed it. Either way he turned back to the room and looked around, seeing people rolling out of bed. "I suppose that was our wake up call today. It was effective enough." He moved back to his own bunk and gathered his clothes for the day, along with the sword leaning against his bedframe. "I advise that the rest of you get a quick start on the morning. Today is an important day, after all." With that he quickly exited the room to find the privacy to change.

Tsukiko sat in the middle of the classroom, her eyes closed and her mind open, absorbing all of the random chatter and gossip around the room. Thanks to her tonal eidetic memory, she could easily remember all the different conversations that were going on at once, and smiled when somebody started talking to themselves about the Lehrmitte Effect. She already knew what the reports were saying about it, but she never believed a story written by another journalist until she researched it herself.

Most of the other conversations were pointless, things about how glad so and so was to be in somebody's class again or who was dating who, which, while something another school reporter might jump on, just wasn't the kind of thing she wrote about. She found her mind drifting back to the dream she had last night, but no matter how hard she focused on it the only thing she could remember was there was a lot of blue. She sighed again, wishing her perfect memory extended to dreams too. She opened her eyes, done listening to the inane chatter and started getting ready for home room.
