Close Wernher. it was Elizabeth who spoke, not Caroline. Caroline is still a little young to have such a comprehensive knowledge of political currents and military strategy.
sooooo....

*cough*
oh right, i wasn't paying close attention to that one. i was too busy plotting your demise baking you a cake.
This time it was Elizabeth who opened her mouth to speak, but Caroline managed to cover her mother's mouth before the harsh words she was preparing could be spoken. Her eyes showed the chaos in her mind at the queen's suggestion. Confusion mixed with rage, sorrow, regret, and outrage, and maybe a bit of betrayal and pain. Hundreds of years of war and hatred would not just fade away, peace or not, and even Elizabeth's ironclad self control could not fight against her instinct. Eventually she managed to control herself again, although the doubt she had didn't vanish.

Elizabeth's near outburst went largely unnoticed, with nearly everyone's attention rooted on the queen herself. In the back of her mind, Caroline heard a sound like a crystal bell, or a laugh. A couple of vague words flashed through her mind, and a name; 'Nalsiet'. Before she could focus on it the feeling was gone, so she turned her attention back to the spectacle before her.
wait, what? more kidnapping? what did i miss?
five posts is a lot? seriously? i used to run in an RP that would have that many posts every hour, at the same level.

PS probably not, considering the queen is there, there's an unknown invasion force wiping out the lands, plus that guy was captured already. i doubt Gwen is helping him ESCAPE, so i see no reason for her to be running through the city with him.
Caroline opened her mouth so speak, but Elizabeth put her hand on her daughter's arm. "With your permission, my liege, I would speak, as much to confirm my understanding of the situation as to convey it unto others." after she got the go ahead, she continued, "From the reports I've heard so far, few as they may be, the force that is invading has technology far more advanced than ours, weapons we cannot understand that do not use magic, but kill just as effectively, far superior numbers and in your opinion could conquer all four kingdoms alone?" as her points were confirmed, she turned her gaze toward Jochi, her eyes calculating as if deciding whether this person was a friend or a foe. "Now tell me, Prince, why a force like that would desire to share the land they are taking with you. I find it much more likely that they would take the opportunity you give them by approaching and slaughter you." The tone of her voice gave no offense, but neither did it contain sympathy or remorse.
Both Elizabeth and Caroline were too surprised to speak when they saw the queen walk in. Elizabeth recovered first. When the queen approached her, she said "Your majesty, when I heard that the palace was taken I assumed the worst. I thank the gods above that you are alive." she quickly regained her composure and wiped the wetness from her eyes, took Caroline's hand and led her to a place in the back of the hall near where the queen sat. As she passed, she spoke so that only the queen could hear her. "From now on I won't be sent away, no matter how many times you tell me to. Next time your life could really be in danger, and I refuse to attend your funeral. You are not only my queen, you are my friend." Then, as an afterthought, she added "But good work, changing places with a commoner was good thinking." Then she was gone, finding a place nearby where she could watch the entire room and stay close.
Will O' the Piper

Charles chuckled to himself, then nodded to Sigmund. I guess you wouldn't know about my spirit. I'm not quite that stealthy to get in through the front door in broad daylight, you're right, but there's a reason I'm in Intelligence, and it's not my negotiating skills. You should make the distraction, though, I don't have anything up my sleeve that wouldn't be worse than just breaking in. The air between the two of them began to shimmer like a heat haze, and Charles was once again thankful that normal people couldn't see spirits as Sophia took shape there. "Distractions are all well and good you two, but normally the person making the distraction can't get away unnoticed. What are you gonna try?" She looked at Sigmund, then back to Charles. "Maybe it would be better to take a look at some of the sites that aren't locked up, places where the victim was taken from the street or outside the village, then come back here when it's not so daylight?"
lol, rage.
