So how do I accept the profession quest? Do I just say "I want to be abreast tamer" and poof I'm a beast tamer?

actually it's very little like your character, besides that they both wield heavy equipment and there's something wrong with their legs. Unlike your character, Tsukiya hasn't been able to walk at all for most of her life, and is almost entirely opposite in terms of personality.

I changed the name. I know I didn't need the explanation, that's just my favorite reason for having it (it was part of my first SAO character. She also carries a notebook where she's written down monster spawn rates for eachfield near each town, among othere things)

Short Bio:
In real life Tsukiko is confined to a wheelchair, unable to move her lower body after surviving a car accident. In SAO, she can do all the things other people do, and more. She feels that if it was only her, she would never want to leave Aincrad, but she will beat the game if it means everybody else will escape.
Personality: Tsukiko doesn't talk much to strangers, so little in fact that people who don't know her think she's mute. Despite her standoffish behavior, she's kind and understanding, but extremely strong willed.

Perhaps you can say he followed behind them in his own boat, and overheard one or two things, so he meets up with them in the forest.With a bit of tweaking to how you meet them i think it would be fine
