Ah, but when you're fighting with swords and bows, war stops being a numbers game and becomes a contest of skill, and we all know Europe's age old tradition with sword and shield. In fact, the most likely scenario in a world without gunpowder is a world predominantly ruled by the European nations, Japan remaining a small, isolated country but gaining power as a land that lives and dies by the sword, and possibly a smaller version of Russian simply based on the tenacity of their fighters.

well, without Gunpowder, most revolutions wouldn't get very far. It was the ability of any common man to pick up a gun and be able to battle effectively that really allowed revolts to be effective. That's not to say there weren't revolts before guns, but typically they were just untrained fighters swinging scythes and pitchforks. So by extension, America would probably be a European country, along with any other major battles that took place after gunpowder based weaponry was invented going completely differently.

Personality:Confident and Loyal are under statements when applied to Evangeline. She is a woman of extreme self assurance, to whom respect is everything. Her opinions of people are entirely based on how that person treats her and the people she cares about. She's always quick to retaliate against a snide remark or derrision.

Background/History:

By all rights, Evangeline should have grown up to be a Noble. She comes from a long line of distinguished women. And if not for misfortunes surrounding her birth, she would have been one herself.

Her mother died in childbirth, leaving her father, a retired Knight, to raise her by himself. It wasn't long until Evangeline took interest in his line of work, and quickly excelled under his tutelage. Instead of learning to wield a quill, she learned to wield a sword, and instead of playing an instrument, she played battlefields and games of strategy. Before she even joined the academy, she made a name for herself with her quick wit and skills with both spear and rapier, earning the title "Viper".

Personality: Evan hates everything about being a "noble". He hates that people treat him differently because of his birth. he hates that he's expected to act proper at all times. he hates that even his childhood friend is duty bound to protect him. 

Evan openly rebels against his upbringing whenever he can, sneaking out at night, picking fights with other nobles, even refusing any money from his parents. The only thing about his past he doesn't hate are his childhood friends, Nolan and Nellie.

Background/History: Evan belongs to a familly of old blood, nobles who can trace their lineage back over two hundred years, and from a young age, he was expected to present himself with dignity and pride. over the years, he became increasingly dissatisfied with his life, having to take etiquette lessons and learn to play instruments, when the money for those lessons could easilly feed a starving familly instead. His acts of open rebellion started when he was twelve, wearing commoner clothing and sneaking out at night to walk among the common folk. 

After his most recent escape attempt, a trip outside the country that lasted two months, he was sent to the Academy in the hopes it would be straighten him out. His protector, Nolan, was sent with him to keep an eye on him.
