Now I'm kinda wishing I had made Maria younger... I suppose it's too late now.

Anyway, I was bored so I made a list of my characters Likes/Dislikes.

Maria

Likes: Sweets, Fuzzy things, Challenges, Flowers

Dislikes: Darkness, Spiders (regular sized, she's ok with giant ones), Disloyalty/Abuse of power

Charles

Likes: Darkness, Puzzles, Spicy food, High places

Dislikes: 'Lone wolves', Being hated, People who think respect is a right of station

Maria's eyes lit up like a child who just learned his parents owned a candy shop. "A boulder? I've never tried to stop a boulder before, do you think there's gonna be another one?" Her childlike, albeit strangely placed glee made her look as young as she was for a moment, before she cleared her throat and tried to look serious again. "Uh, I mean, I'm glad you're all relatively alright. Honestly I don't know much about what we're doing here, since I was just chosen to come in on a whim. If it's alright, I'd like to hear everything you know." She absently grabbed the end of her braid with her free hand, twisting it around her fingers. It was a nervous habit she had developed under the Queen's command, whenever she got reprimanded for breaking protocol.

Caroline looked back at the healer. "You're persistent, I'll give you that, but my course will not be swayed. If you want, you can walk beside me, so you can be the one to toss me in a wagon if I fall over again." Turning back toward the exit, her next words were barely audible. "I could use such a strong will by my side anyway, Diana."

Elizabeth took advantage of the short break to unroll the leather bundle she had under her arm. With what little time she had had to herself before the evacuation, she had managed to dissemble the weapon and make a traveling case for it. laying it on the ground, she examined the device. The long metal tube seemed to serve only to direct the projectile. Now that she had it apart, the weapon was actually quite simple. The parts could be easily replaced if necessary. The complicated part was the powder. "I wish I had my lab equipment." She said to nobody in particular. Rolling up the bundle again, she suddenly felt a familiar presence. Whipping her head around, she thought she saw something moving in the trees, but maybe it was just her imagination.
