I'm pretty sure both Carson and Artemis' lips are deadbolted.
I can't wait to be cop buddies, and be lured into a trap by what we thought was a cop buddy but was in fact a traitorous meat puppet.
So, in a bit more detail, she has two triggers with two different effects. The first trigger is Self Preservation, meaning if she takes enough of a beating to "Pass out" she'll stop just defending herself and actually try to kill whoever was attacking her, until they either die or escape, then turn her attacks on anyone besides Carson who comes near her until he can snap her out of it or she passes out from exhaustion. The second trigger is Defend Carson, meaning if Carson is seriously wounded or in mortal danger, she'll go into that state and kill whatever was threatening him, then whoever gets close to him. The state exists because she's a non-violent person, so to be able to defend herself she has to fight without being aware. The only thing it doesn't apply to is Puppeteers, because she sees them as a scourge on the world rather than actual living beings, so has no problem killing them.
There's a difference between soulless as in without a concience and soulless as in her mind shuts down and she reacts on instinct. When she's like that she'll stand near Carson and basically have a "kill zone" with about a meter radius.
I wonder how Carson will react the forst time Melody goes berzerk. It's a pretty starteling change from sweet, protective girl to soulless killer.
I like Melody. It's simple.
Well, since dolls seem to be more idea based than logic based, the symbolism itself would probably be enough.
What I meant by poison is that it bypasses their defense, like Kryptonite and superman.
I'm sticking with my explination that coldforged iron, wolfsbane, mistletoe and hawthorn are poison when used together. The nail part is just superstition.
