Alex smiled at Nessie. "Of course I am. It's my job to help you reach your full potential. If I allowed you to train only half your power, I wouldn't be doing my job. I can understand how you feel though, so if you want I'm free for mentoring, and I won't even mention Viper again until you're ready to bring it up yourself."

Alex was about to melt the stone around him when Z just let it go, seeming to have lost interest. "Dammit," Alex muttered under his breath. "I missed the chance." Sighing heavily, he put his gentle expression on again. He figured it wasn't a good idea to provoke him some more. "How am I ever gonna see which of us is stronger if I can't get him to fight me for real?" He said to himself. "Oh well, maybe next time." He bent down and scooped up a rock. Releasing the flame he had built up, the stone melted into magma almost instantly and flowed over his hands.

BTW the water move Alex just used is called "Perfect Chill", which creates absolutely pure water from the air, then cools is to about -300 celcius. Thanks to it's absolute purity, the water stays liquid until something (in this case Z's fireballs) contaminates it. It's Alex's defense against fire and water.

Alright, but I gave you a chance to back out. Either way the fight will continue, and she tries to stop it the least she'll come out with is a concussion. Just fair warning.

Alex raised one of his hands and swept a wide arc in front of him. creating a sheet of water that cascaded in front of him. As Z's flames touched it, they went out and the water flash froze. Neither of them seemed to notice Luna's presence. "You should know a simple flame won't hurt me." He said, "Let's take this somewhere more comfortable." Wings of fire spread from his back as he talked, and propelled him into the air and out an open window. He hovered a ways above the ground, waiting.

Peace and Grace should take back seat to survival. If she gets in the middle of a fight between these two, she might well die, especially if Z takes her comment as an insult.

What I'm saying is this is going to happen because we decided it's going to happen, so she might as well not be there.

Not time for Luna to cut in. Besides I get the feeling that Z's flames are a bit much for her to handle. Pretty sure the hierarchy goes:

Z and Alex and maybe one or two other people

Regular Mentors and such

Well trained students

Untrained students

Alex's grin turned dangerous. "Yeah, just like old times, 'Zero'." He knew he shouldn't have said that, that calling Z by his old name would turn the conversation on it's head, but he felt no regret. If a fight was what he got, he needed to let loose anyway.

Alex smiles at Nyte, but there's something different about this smile. Something dangerous. "A little curiosity is a good thing boy, but be careful not to put your head in the lion's mouth."
