Alex looked over at Ryan, then back at Z. "Get him some help please." Then without another word they were gone, vanished in a vortex of white flame. Back in his room, Alex froze the door and then spread the ice through the walls, just in caze Z wanted revenge. "Nyx..." he said quietly, letting his arms drop. He sat hard on the bed, looking down. Some welcome party, huh? I wish I had never left home, that this war hadn't turned families against one another. I wish I could give you everything you deserve."

Alex grabbed Nyx's hands as she tried to hide them from Ryan. Holding them firmly but gently, he told some of the water in the air to flow over them. As it did, he used the water to heal her hands. Once he was done, he wrapped his arms around her and held her close, not caring about making a scene in front of Ryan. "I'm sorry Nyx, I'm so sorry. I never ment for you to get caught up in any of this."

I know, I just want for it to be gradual. It really irks me when people have their characters spontaneously change.

Hey, I resemble that statement. Alex only had a sudden personality swing because the person he loved came back from the dead in his mind and found out that he had betrayed everything she expected of him.

Alex looked at Nyx for a second, then tried to look behind her back. "Nyx, I..." Then he realized what must have been happening, and hung his head. "I'm sorry Nyx, you hurt yourself trying to get to me didn't you? I lost control again."

At the last second Alex turned the blade away, cutting a deep gash in Z's side instead of killing him. Then he dropped the knife and as it turned to ash brought his hand up again and jabbed him in the same spot. Then he started beating him to the ground, delivering a series of powerful blows to various vital points. Finally he stopped with a kick to his face, and leaned down so he could talk. "I'm letting you go for now with just this, but if you touch her again I swear to any god that will listen that I will kill you. If you run, I will chase you down and I will catch you. You had better thank whoever you pray to at night that Nyx is standing there, or you wouldn't be getting this." He took his foot off of the man's chest and walked away, back toward Nyx. As he walked, the ice wall he had made started to his and sputter, and dissolved into steam. "Let's get out of here, Nyx. Please."
