"Always," He said, bringing her up into his arms and kissing her deeply. He held her tight against him, not afraid of hurting her anymore, and stood up, taking her with him. He carried her over to the bed, "You'll need to sleep again soon," He said, breaking the kiss for a moment. "Don't worry, this time it's because you're recovering, not because you're wounded. When you wake up again you'll be better than ever." He fell backwards, ending up with her lying on top of him, their lips locked together again. Finally he pulled back, breathing heavily. "I told you I would never let you leave me again."

Phillip did a normal dive into the pool, somehow avoiding everybody swimming before he resurfaced. "I know there are other things to do," He said, breaking the surface next to Emilia, "But really how much more fun do you need than a warm pool and a gorgeous girl next to you?"

Alex silently raised her chin. Looking deep into her eyes for a moment, he leaned forward and touched his lips to hers. A warmth spread from the touch and suffused her entire being, washing away the pain. When he pulled away, there was no blood on her bandages, and in fact there were no bandages. Ashes were all that was left of the bindings. "Now you don't have to."
