Well this is a little overwhelming.
"It means I'm getting the hell out of this place even if it means I'll get shot," said Melissa plainly. She was so sick of this, of being messed around by the people who ran this place, of being treated like unruly livestock. She crossed her arms with a haughty air that made it clear her decision didn't need any thinking through: it was already made. She was careful, though, to put an extra step between herself and Brutus. The little extra distance wouldn't put the dog off if he decided she was a threat, but it made her feel safer.
The land east of the great mountains, the land of Kedige, is not a forgiving one. Its winters bring starvation; its summers bring fires fiercer than the strongest grizzly. The wolves who reside in the foothills and on the slopes are brave, or maybe foolish, simply for choosing to exist there, but it has been this way for generations. Naturally, the demanding lives led by the inhabitants have bred strong and courageous wolves, wolves with good hearts who will defend their packs and their lands, even to the gruesome painful death.

Also, though, the land of Kedige has bred wolves with seething hatred toward packs not their own. There are three large packs who roam here: the Uutar:the Ones of the Scree, the Eirir: the Ones of the Hills, and the Rretili: the Ones of the Spruce. All share borders with each other, and all occasionally fight bloodily to get the choicest hunting grounds. This has been the way for as long as anyone can remember. However, this way is about to change.

The fire season has become longer. Bears and mountain lions are thriving. The wind makes the trunks of the trees groan menacingly and rockslides seem never to end. These are the signs of the change. Packs will splinter. Wolves will die. The wolves of each pack will coalesce, and either their hatred will kill them or their good hearts will save them.

TL;DR: You're from one of three wolf packs that hate each others' guts. Bad things happen to each pack (famine, disaster, whatever) and force members from each to join together and survive.

We're in Italy, sorry for not being clear enough. Good luck on finals and stuff!
"Can we stop threatening violence here?" said Chloe. "As far as I'm concerned we should all be careful around each other, but Chromium and...Nitrogen are the newest to our little posse. Therefore we should be the most cautious around them." She turned to face Jan, her eyes glaring. She didn't know how much he knew about them, and she didn't know what his intentions were. Perhaps the best approach would be wary, but not aggressive. At least a little polite. She tried to make herself relax, for the good of everyone in the room. "Why exactly are you here on this train right now?" she asked.
As uneasy as Chloe felt around this new person, Dan made it worse, but she did the best she could to ignore it. She opened one eye just a tiny bit and watched Jan put a sort of gas mask on. Oh, this was just perfect. Another person who could, she assumed, exhale their own element. That was all they needed! Still, he didn't seem half as bad as the freak from earlier--the reason they were on this train. She crossed her fingers that he wasn't in cahoots with him somehow.

It was Chrome who caused her to raise her head, open her eyes wide, and blow her cover. "Jesus! I think you're the one who needs a drug test. This is unbelievable."
Melissa thought about the question, her face screwing up as she tried to put some words together. She'd seen whippings before, tons of whippings, and she'd never helped those people. She didn't have any answer for Dimitri other than, "Truthfully, I have no idea. I guess I surprise myself sometimes?" Now she was actually trying to figure out why she had come to the rescue. She analyzed everything she remembered, every detail, but the answer didn't come. "I was just kind of being an idiot, I suppose."

The sound of a booming voice on a loudspeaker startled her, and as she listened, her heart sank and her stomach made a loud grumble. Melissa had her doubts that she would survive such a period of forced famine, with the amounts she hadn't been eating lately. Tears came to her eyes but she forced them back before they could fall. Don't show weakness. Not to anyone. Even if they've shown kindness.

She stood up. "I think that does it for me, guys," she announced.
Sounds great. ^^ I'll put up an OOC tonight!
