In some ways, the guildfall was a blessing. It makes it harder for my original 2009 RPing to be found...

I've finally returned to the Guild. Many months of much RPing ahead.

Been here on the guild since April '08, seen a lot of change but still love it. I've been on and off, I've GM'd fantastic projects and train-wrecks, it all comes with the territory. I once tried to make a YouTube ad for the guild because I'm slightly insane. In a weird place with the Guild right now, seems like so many names I knew are gone, but more than happy and ready to meet new people. Been writing casually for over a decade, a lot of that practice has been here. I have some small short sci-fi stories printed in anthologies but those are so heavily edited they don't even feel like mine any more.

When not on the Guild I'm most likely working, playing FFXIV or the Souls series or (insert recent must play video game).
Anyone with a passing interest in sci fi needs to read Saga by Brian K Vaughan.

Dark, care for Arnack and the Slayers to return, even though they never really got started? I'll probably rewrite it a bit but the premise will be exactly the same.

More than welcome back zran :)

Alina Frein. Female. Alunei. Fifty-three (53) though appears to be in her early twenties (20's).Alina is a a rather youthful and beautiful young woman. The only thing that sets her apart from a human is her unnatural beauty and the pristine white wings often kept folded at her back. She holds a pale, delicate complexion with kind, violet colored eyes. Her lips are faintly pink and on most occasion in a simple smile. She has long, straight, pitch black hair that only accentuates her complexion. She isn't overly tall for her race, standing at five feet and six inches (5'6") with a slender yet athletic build. She is usually adorned with her armor, pearl white and intricately designed with gold trim and embroidery. Beneath the armor is expertly crafted leather armor treated with an unusual chemical multiple times to remove all color from the hide. The leather armor is there to allow the rare metallic armor to be light and spread out to give Alina the most maneuverability possible. The Alunei are kind by nature and so is Alina. She tries to see the good in all things. She has a nurturing and almost motherly way about her, tending to anyone that is hurt and in need of her help; even if it costs her more than a nights sleep. She has a strong sense of right and wrong and will never take the unrighteous path. Mainly because it physical pains the Alunei to do wrong. Alina is incurably positive, nearly impossible to damper her spirits. Thought because of all this Alina often gets in trouble, trusting to easily in those that would trick the girl. WIP - A straight edge, double sided blade without a hilt. Along the center of the blade there is a small divet on either side with intricate glowing runes carved into the metal.Graktite Plate Armor (See Character image) - Armor made of a pristine white metal only found in the caves near the Alunei settlements. The metal is incredibly strong and tremendously hard to craft unless they have the special skills trained to the Alunei blacksmithes.Travelers pack - A medium sized leather sack filled with the essentials for long trips. Medicinal herbs, rations, flint and a bedroll among other simple things. Alunei. Single. Arcane -Magical...The Alunei possessive a great many seemingly holy powers, namely their healing abilities. Though the Alunei are strong healers they use the rare herbs that grow in The Soul to increase their healing powers. Along with this the Alunei have powerful light based defensive powers with very few that could be considered offensive. None truly know the extent of an Alunei in combat as they have always avoided conflict.-Knowledge/Training/Basic....Combat Training.Survival Training.Herbalist training.Gliding.Race Sheet.

I like the basic idea for sure :) Nice to have a healer/cleric. Just as always, bare in mind that magic isn't as widespread as in other fantasy settings.

The Soul is a name for the desert, I believe. Also, I'm scared that goblin will just be one of those meat shields. Would probably make a great meat shield, cuz then GOBLIN SWARM!

The characters are being chosen for specific reasons by certain someones. There is no reason the goblin shouldn't or can't be chosen and therefore a member of the party. They are skilled individuals, some of them, but nothing extraordinary,

I didn't see the "Disadvantages" as "Weaknesses" I saw it as, "Why it sucks to be part of this faction" And training for 25 years in order to protect people for another 50 with little chance of surviving just to get the chance to be a parent sucks imo.Edit: Also, the magic rules established that all magic users need to "connect" with one of the gods. I just meant that none of them were getting their weird visions from other gods

Not all magic users need a direct connection. It is just one method of enhancement.
Having a short lived race with very potent magic doesn't fit the lore really.
I like the idea of the character and I trust you to RP it responsibly and not OP'd but I'm just wondering of how well it fits into the setting is all.

Although this does sound interesting, and though I certainly would enjoy playing a part in this, I would like to ask a few things before I go on in thinking up a good character. - Are you going to take care in ensuring that (probably) not all our characters are going to be magical, or will you be encouraging magic and am I going to have to create a character who would have to be able to measure up alongside the other PC's, too? - Are our characters going to be generally aligned along with, against each other, or even in a more complicated situation like that? I'm impressed by the level of worldbuilding shown here, but how the plot would advance once we get started isn't at all clear. - I'm asking this a little ahead of time, but I'd also like knowing whether or not you're going to place mechanics or not behind things such as combat. Just curious, nothing I really need to know anytime soon.Still, I'm interested.

This seemed to be the most relevant post of questions. I'l get to everything here that I missed eventually. I told you guys this would be a slow week as I have a lot of work due
I'm hoping to get the antagonist's sheet done today/tomorrow and get the actual first IC post up the day after.

No I am actually encouraging characters to not be super magical, as it is somewhat against the lore. There is some tiny amount in everyone, proper mages are one in a million. What we have as characters so far I would consider slightly above average. More mundane characters are definitely welcome.

The main characters are essentially going to be forced to work together.

There will some few little background mechanics that I'll get into once we get going.
The Soul is undoubtedly a mystical place. It's up to you how you want to construct the goblins.

Did you notice the thing in my CS AND THE NAERI THAT I TALKED TO YOU ABOUT IN PMS

I think so?
I see where you are coming from with the idea alright.

If my characters don't sustain life failing injuries, I feel like I failed or just didn't try hard enough.Edit: Does that make me a masochist?

No it makes you fun :p
Just on that combat point. I tend to aim for a balance of realism and fun.

Main thing about this RP is don't be afraid to ask or try things!

So is there no magic to be gleaned by living in the sands? Hmmmmmm...Still think that I can make this work, but I might have to change up their location/religion a bit to make it so. Which is a bummer, I like them as sand people more than jungle types TT^TT

But it's a fantasy Roleplay! Maybe the sand people believe that living in the sand gives them more power? Maybe it does? Maybe it doesn't. Player knowledge doesn't have to and shouldn't affect In character knowledge. Feel free to make a religion based on the sand. It's already mentioned that people find it sacred.
