Regarding the end of the Equestrians

"The fall of the Equestrians represents the end of an era. Regrettable as it is that their entire species is dead, it is good their nation is wiped from the face of the universe, never to exercise its brutally aggressive 'peacekeeping' again. The Collectives sorrow goes to the Sazkarjhit who lost their lives above Equiis in what we can only assume to be some form of major error in their 'magic'. The Supremes are in the process of rescuing what is left of the Equestrian species and the galaxies power balance has been reformed. May this day be marked with both sadness and joy, for the passing of the Equestrians leaves a strange feeling of pity and triumph stirring within the nodes of our own. I bid the galaxy to feel sorrow for their commoners and mourn them, but mourn not their corrupt elite. To those who have lost their magic, including our resident Selkath, we have been looking into methods into which your power may be returned, and we ourselves have, put in simply terms, no idea. If the Supremes are willing, this individual advises representatives to make contact with the Supremes, as they may have the knowledge required to return it to you. After due deliberation, the Collective has decided to leave the majority of the planets open in hopes our Hach and Sazkarjhit allies will be able to use them to boost their strength and prowess, and we offer resources should they require it for their many undertakings, here or in other galaxies. This day marks a turn. What was is no more, what will be is yet to be decided. To all out there faced with this new opportunity Carpe Diem"

The Umbrae Populus looked at each other "He misnamed us."
"Affirmative"
"I shall pass this along to High Command, if the Collective species are being misnamed by the galaxy action should be taken"
"Unit Copies"

They felt it... How couldn't they? A blast of energy that grabbed there attention, and the attention if the Oculatus and the most powerful of the Triarii and Lance Humans... And by extent all of them after the information was quickly shared. Several species completely snuffed from existence , the Selkath stripped of their powers and a sudden gap in the galactic power balance. There now lay only two major powers, the AIF and the Collective. The young and the ancient. Somewhat fitting. The Supremes did not have enough numbers to fill the gap, that was for certain, despite their power and advanced technology. So who would rise to take the point how? The Hach? The Sazkarjhit? They were the only conceivable galaxy one powers capable of rising to that point at the moment. Maybe peace had finally come. Unlikely. And Faust... Where was Faust? Waiting to resurge the Equestrians ages down the line? They would transcribe this, so that if the Deuscidium never found her the descendents, or heirs, of the Collective would be able to find a way to prevent them becoming such a large threat. The Ethereal ones and the Triarii were still separated by the rift created by the Triarii's actions, and likely would be for a long time. Indeed, the advice had slowed to a point it was delivered perhaps every month, and it was likely they wouldn't return to the standard level before a hundred cycles were up. However far back it had pushed them, they were confident they would eventually reach the final stage... Maybe five eons instead of the estimated three...
The Easter Rising of 1916 was during the First World War, soldiers were sent to fight that one, even if it was small and not really long.

Also, the two islands are tactically important in a war (They are sitting right off the coast of the Island of Great Britain, after all) and the Shetland Islands has oil off shore, so there is value behind them defending it. And by attacking them, you became part of WW3 so you are part of the distraction for them, they have to focus on you too... And considering France was likely not trying to kill them (Probably too busy rushing to defend themselves from Germany, and although the EU collapsed I can't see the European countries declaring war with the UK (save for perhaps Spain in an attempt to reclaim Gibraltar)) you would become the nearest power and also the only power with a foothold in the UK, thus it's more important they deal with you first.
Given the resurgence of another militaristic German Reich, there were likely troops already rushed home with the express purpose of defending the British Isle against an invasion
Tentative interest, would like more details
Great, so now I have to not only fix up the population but hunt down and destroy an international arms trafficker called APIRCA too. I should have just stuck with the UK, at least then I'd just have to look after people who moan about immigration xD
Mars Supreme Draconian

"No. A full species wide change is not advocated as such individuals rarely have a code stable enogh for reproduction, hence why all Synths such as myself lack reproductive organs. The majority retain their standard form, characteristics and autonomy. For the most part, they retain autonomy as long as they abide by strict law regulations, as you saw on Lakfakalle with the diplomats... Even us Synths have autonomy, though we are programmed, yes. Your terms for counting however make sense. I doubt even the Triarii could fault it. As for the Equestrians, morally and politically they remain bankrupt, however their massive army was thought to be dangerous... Until we beat them with surprising ease. They dropped several places from that, I assure you. Once we locate a method to completely remove Equestrian magic, their reliance will result in a crushing fall from grace. Without their magic, they would be permanently stuck to a pre-tribal level as they lack the correct anatomy to construct and use even the most basic of tools... Even an independent Saeva Simius nation would be able to advance faster than the Equestrians in this case. If the Hach continue growing at their current rate and the Sazkarjhit growth rte increases, they will eventually surpass the Equestrians at the predictions made by two Triarii Argutus at the Crassus research center. Their magic stumps the Argutus of every race. Even the Selkath, the only species of ours with any such ability, are unable to explain exactly how it works. Specter has often toyed with the idea of infiltrating their archives, but they have an annoying ability to detect our agents using their magic." The Umbrae Populus paused and turned to another of the Synth Infiltrator and gave a short order, and the infiltrator nodded and stared off into space, communicating with his commanding officer through his communication node, before nodding back to the speaker, who turned back to the Supreme "Apologies, I needed to obtain permission. You are very old and advanced, and from what we have seen you appear to be strong enough to drive off Faust, something it would take a team of experienced Deuscidium to even consider, and able to affect their magic... We wish to request the knowledge on how you do so and how, if possible, the Collective could do so in order to enhance our deuscidium branch and anti-magic teams, and wish to know what you would want in return for this major information"
Above the Supreme

The vents cover was withdrawn and four of the aliens dropped into the room, still looking like the humans they had emulated.
"Souls do not exist, we once believed and then the Collective showed us the truth. There are horrors beyond horrors, but no souls."
"We are beginning to doubt."
"Yes. As for Faust, a class three extra-dimensional being should not be trifled with without experience, but otherwise she is relatively harmless."
"We do not understand the system you have used to determine Humans the largest, did you mean this galaxy alone, not counting extra-galactic holdings? in which case, I agree. However, it does not matter that they are the strongest non-gifted faction, as such 'gifts' exist and are therefore lack of said gift is irrelevant"
"As a result if it being irrelevant, we will treat the humans no differently and are thus compelled to correct. The AIF lacks the number of races the Equestrians hold alone, and we hold more in that respect. It would be advised that you compare 6, Human, Abh, Dolphin, Boskop, Eth'ral and Aeternal to nine, Triarii, Saeva Simius, Corruptelae Insectum, Lance Human, Selkath, Umbrae Populus, Batarian, Asari and Turian... The last three being minorities. Six (though with a single Draconian) to ten if you wish to include Draconians."
"We have higher population levels Collectively as well"
"Our weaponry is superior"
"Our forces are superior"
"We would only place the AIF as the second most powerful faction .. Which is up one space from a cycle ago, when we considered the Equestrians the second most powerful. Our short war proved how weak they are"
"Agreed"

Vents, Abh

The Umbrae Populus again hissed and contorted in an impossible manner before scuttling away into the shadows of the ventilation shafts darkness
Vent shaft above Hostage room

The Umbrae Populus exchanged glances after the Draconian and Fausts little... Conflict. The implication that the humans could stand alone as conquerors confused them. The Saeva Simius were brutal warriors who lacked any such 'gifts', and the Sazkarjhit also stood without such gifts, along with the Sangheili. The implication that only the humans stood 'ungifted' was somewhat unfounded, and even if each race lost their 'gifts' most would be able to adapt at this stage... Save for the Equestrians as practically all their tech relied on it. In Comparison, no Collective tech relied on the ability of the Umbrae Populus to change form, and few pieces of equipment required the Triarii's psionics to work. And if they heard another mention of this pathetic concept of 'souls' they would almost certainly regurgitate their last meal. As Faust was driven away their brows raised in amusement and continued to watch, eager to see the Humans response
The Equestrians actually held 5 million, while the rest of the part held 15 million all together. Given human growth rates I wouldn't be surprised, but the Equestrians have their magic to help them

Tbh though, I'd trust science over this magic any day.
