Uh... I'd like to withdraw any comments I made about me getting fucked over on the rolls. I am very content with what I've got now... Lol
Corustaria is a naval monster... And... That's about it really haha

I'll make improvements in a few years. I aim to get my GDP to 75bn and make my country stable lol
Just one of many lands to come I hope. Prep the colony ships, lads, time to go steal some lands!
True enough, but now those comments on a "day of reckoning" are floating around and the Tartan brown shirts are trying to surpress the BBC, I think it'll get brighter for the union.

Bugger, everyone's better of than me. I must do the most british thing possible! I must blame the immigrants. Lazy good for nothing *ignore that the immigrants are generally hard working people *

Too right. At leas the weather is nice right now... At least where I live hehe

Haha yeah, it is quite ironic now...Oh don't be pissy! You chose like 11 traits so now your stability suffers. You were quite lucky not to get Very Unstable actually... :)Fellswick is up

Hopefully the irony will be lost in four days time when it a No

And I'm a British man, its my job to get pissy about things! When its not the other Brits its the weather, when its not the weather its the EU, and when its none of those its anything I can find! Huzzah
Oh you bastard, seems I am starting on a rocking throne.

No matter, I'll just find out what they want.

Crowd: We want.... Moneeeeeeeey!

XD
Well, mostly the shape of my islands. I grew rather attached to them last time, though I did like the ma. Reminded me of the UK with Scotland chopped off... Now the irony strikes me haha

Okay Lancia is now going up...Also in regards to maps, people, you may be disappointed as to the lands available simply because I am not going to draw one that suits you perfectly. You will have to make do with what I give you. Also when the map is up please PM me where you want your nation to be so I can create a map with you all in.

Heh, can I request you use the same as last time for me if you still have it saved please.

Just to clarify...if you want bowmen etc...then just pick outdated army...you cannot have professional and outdated. They may be great with a bow but they aren't classified as a Professional Army due to the lack of top of the range weaponry. Stats are now rolled, I shall start pumping out peoples stats and then posting their nation with stats into the dump...I shall let people know what nation goes up as I do it.

Maybe you should name a trait "uber outdated" to compliment the Super hub and mega field xD

Honestly though, maybe there should have been a "modern army" trait alongside the professional army trait, because there were some very good but underfunded armies
Corustaria's marines all use rifles... And have proven themselves superb with them. Considering the conditions of their fighting, its not hard to believe some may have chosen to adapt them for standard line infantry usage.

Also, muskets are more inaccurate than bows at short range. But they have a longer range and better accuracy at range. Iirc, I was watching a programme on the history channel which said at 100m a Musket had a 7/10 chance of hitting the target in skilled hands (and still have considerable impact). At 200 it drops to 3/10. Meanwhile, hitting with a bow at ranges such as that and having enough force to hit the target (unless you are using a damn powerful bow) is pretty doubtful.

Arrows are effected a lot more by the wind and weather as well. In the rain, bows strings will become damp and useless, if a musket man could keep his powder dry he's good to go.

And the RoF of a bow is offset by the obvious need for more precise aiming.

In addition, if cavalry charges a bowman, he's pretty fucked even if he hhas a sword.
If cavalry charges a musketman, he likely has a bayonet attached (and even if he doesn't, he still has a better chance than a bowman) he'll perform better because he's essentially got a makeshift spear. Meanwhile, bowmen would either
Need to carry a spear with them
Be backed up by pikemen

Neither of which are ideal when you can just roll the two roles into one. Easier, more effective etc

In addition, musket balls have more force behind them on impact, thus more damae

Musket balls are also cheaper and easier to make than arrows, and easier for an army to carry

Finally, morale. I'd argue morale was hit harder when your friends were dropping around you to the sound of a loud crack.

Overall, muskets were just generally a more logical choice for an army
